Why can't red show on a folded flag?

 

 

The folded flag is emblematic of the tri-cornered hat worn by the Patriots of the American Revolution. When folded, no red or white stripe is to be evident, leaving only the blue field with stars. It is then presented as a keepsake to the next of kin or an appropriate family member.

I just want to say that CGC Mike who is being used as a human shield by those above him has always come across as a very nice and helpful person and it sucks that he is being made to deliever these half assed statements to the public

Oh and to add, umm the American Flags first stripe is Red, not White as it is on the back of the Comic Cover. I own one of the 9.8's and a Raw, and as a Vet SMH if Mr Crain did this. He's better then that I believe.

I'm thinking this has been done for retailers in the past judging by the defects on this ASM #218 CGC 9.9.   I have perfect books with no wrinkles and less ink rub/soiling than this that were graded 9.6 with graders notes indicating ink rub similar to this. It also has a spine miswrap and off-white to white pages to boot.  I feel like the only thing preventing this from being a 9.8 or lower was whatever deal the submitter worked out with CGC at the time.  Stuff like this and now the UF4 9.9 and 10.0 submission ratios pretty much proves these grades are for sale but just not for regular submitters.

The most disturbing part of this entire thing is that CGC is setting the precedent that you can take a book that has previously capped out at 9.8, modify it by adding a shiny layer, and then get a higher grade. That isn't conservation, that isn't restoration, that's straight-up modification of an original book. To allow that without denoting it in any way as a flaw and most importantly to allow it to improve the grade of the book itself - is mind-blowing. Where does that stop?

So, it's breach of contract at the very least. It's potentially copyright infringement. It's potential trademark violation.

Thank you for highlighting this.  There must be a secret tier where you can pay extra for 9.9 or 10.0 grades.  Maybe we can ask them what the pricing is on this.  If it can’t be bought then how many YouTube subscribers would I need in order to access this tier.
