Well eBay has started blocking listing of this bootleg book as being COUNTERFEIT. The gentleman that bought a CGC 9.8 from Black Flag has posted on IG that eBay removed his listing for policy violation. Ouch.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Considering CGC's response to our criticism, I think that this will be the last straw for many, many more people.

I totally agree with you here. I was away from the hobby for about 10-15 years. My brother passed away pre-pandemic and so my siblings and I shared out his collection between the three of us. Then during the pandemic I decided to look at his books which reignited my love for comics. I will say that the amount of variants these days and even going to the extent of store exclusives reminds me of the 90's all over again where one day it all imploded.

What does this do to CGC graded books if they've actually sold grades? I mean looking at the 3 different books from Black Flag with all the same grades makes it undeniable that there was some shady business going on right?

Just here to add more posts to the fire...this entire situation is hot garbage of responses by CGC. I have personally had cover recreations commissioned by the original cover artists on a book (then professionally press printed like actual books), which by CGC's logic I could staple those to the originals and submit them for high grades.

It really does feel that CGC sold guaranteed grades. 30 books graded and basically half of them were over 9.8 - for books that were over a year old stock, handled originally, then handled again to have new covers stapled over via extra staples, with no label notations.

For me it is clear; I cannot trust buying modern CGC graded books. Likewise, I feel I'm at a disadvantage if submitting my own moderns since they clearly won't compare to those submitted by influencers/big account submitters. So I just won't submit moderns anymore and leave them raw.

But does it really end at moderns?  Most of us have seen the "Promise Collection" books, and to say that there are some gift grades floating around in there would be an understatement.  And they were all sold through Heritage If I remember correctly.  So what might have gone on behind the scenes with that arrangement?  

Impartiality and integrity are no longer in CGC's vocabulary.

Not sure if this has been updated but originally it was mentioned that the "influencers" were skipping the lines and buying the books before people who had been in line were able to?  Has this been confirmed?

I am an LCS who stopped submitting for customers over the dealer discount issue. Our submission totals have decreased by at least 2500 books year over year. CGC didn't change their stance on that. So good luck!
