I’m not gonna live-post through this read as part of my mission to convert as many people as possible to loving artist editions as much as I do, but last observation (not a promise) - the amount of pages in an annual brings back the half-and-full-page panels aplenty! Like this stunner that looks like 2 half-page panels but is a full page.

I am not an AE guy, but, seeing as it reprints my favorite comic, I had to get this. I have spent hours staring at those pages.

Some lucky SOB on CAF owns all the splash pages to this one. Lord.

Did you already own this AE or did I just score a convert?

Already had it: but if I didn’t know it existed, you’d have converted me.
Does that count?

I just read back to the start of 2024. Saw some beautiful raw and graded books that make my beater readers look even worse by comparison:

#7 - Earliest issue in my collection
#26 - It only took 20+ years to get a copy of this issue to go with my #25

#49 and #52 - 'Nuff said

If it makes you feel any better, I consider raw, reading copies of Kirby Fantastic Fours to be the most entertaining (and thus, intrinsically valuable) comic books in all existence.

I'm happy with my beater readers. They're the best I can afford. I do get a little jealous looking at nicer copies though.

Just finished a nice little sit down with some Kirby beaters - read FF99 cover to cover without even blinking . First time I actually read raw early FF in a while - and all those warm fuzzy feelings came rushing back to me. For me, just enjoying the story without concern for grade of book, value of book, etc is what got me into this hobby in the first place - important to remember those roots methinks. For this Preacher, FF1-100 is all about one man: Señor Benjamin Grimm. God damn I love Kirby for bringing us Ben!!! God bless that man…

The inks on this! Look at that red in the banner...it is so bright that it almost looks fluorescent - amazing. Don't know if I have ever seen red ink on ANY SA cover look quite that vibrant.

I hesitate to post mine. I don’t want Lou, WVD or Straw to feel bad about their collections.

your fears are unfounded:  1) you own the d-copy, the only silver book in the ped.  2)  the usual 10-point scale wasn't sufficient for your specimen---you have an 11 out of 12 book!  3) you're kj--you rule over all things ff.
