What numbers do you consider the Sweet Part of the 4-color run?

mm

From the 50's to the 150's -- about.

That is about the sweet spot. I'm fortunate to have all but five graded at this point. Tough books in high grade, to be sure.

Four Color #56. I bought this comic almost 25 years ago.

Very nice copy. (thumbs u

Understatement. That's gorgeous.

Just noticed that it's a Gerber 8. Top census copy is an 8.5. Appears as if this copy would grade higher.

Didn't realize that it was a Gerber 8. makes me appreciate my copy more - will have to look at it tonight!

I've got 56 in a graded 9.2. Are you sure about the Gerber 8?

Even if the Gerber number is 8, that may not mean much; Gerber was working with limited information. Since I've owned a copy for so long, I tend to notice when other issues come along, and I've seen several over the years, so I don't think it's especially rare.

I got this comic for Christmas circa 1985. It's an attractive copy but only mid-grade due to the heavy tanning on the inside covers.

It's interesting how this era of Dells was plagued by this tanning.

No kidding. Though something else happened to mine, the tanning is also quite evident -

I have a number of methods I use to track the true scarcity of the Four Color Books. These three books that I picked up recently are all books that you will have trouble finding listed at all, let alone in any kind of high grade. I have been waiting years for them to show up and forced myself to cough up the high dough that these things have been forced up to recently!

These may not show up again in high grade for years! Enjoy!
