Yeah I hear yah about trying to scan slabbs. My copy is probably a solid 4.0 and is very tight but faded. I can't see it getting a grade over 5.0-5.5. I might get it graded when I renew my registration next month as this sure is a damn hard copy to find. I don't think I have even seen Metro list one of these in the last few years and I was lucky enough to work a nice deal off EBay to acquire this. Was sold by someone woman who focused more on selling antiques and it was shipped in an unboarded manila enevlope frustrated.gif (unscathed thankfully).

we all have 'our lucky day' stories. my 77 resulted from a chance email received one day from a guy i'd bought a few books from on ebay. the books i bought made it obvious i was a timely guy, and his email simply said something like 'i've got a mid-grade cap 77 for sale if you'd like a shot at it before i post on ebay.' i knew there were NO decent copies of the book, so i got the book for 6.0 money or so, and when it came in it far exceeded expectations. i've bought a decent number of slabbed books, but haven't mailed that many in on my own--hoping i'd have a book far outstripping the census, off i mailed it. it remains one of my prized timelys. however, notwithstanding the love i feel for it, i might be willing to trade it to filter for the windy city #1. with a little green coming with the w.c., natch.

Sweet!

What led you to those two and are there still others you looking for?

This may sound simplistic, but at the time (about 3.5 years) I went crazy and spent about $75K on books ranging from key SA Spider-Men/X-Men to GA titles like Batman and Captain America. I think I purchased both these books in a matter of a week, but stopped when I moved on to something else. I still love both books, but if I had looked at all the Cap covers, I may have chosen something else.
