That depends on your definition of (too) expensive.  hm

Schomburg covers are grand to behold ...usually well over a grand. xD

Seriously, I'd recommend looking at Nedor/Standard (Black Terror, Fighting Yank, Thrilling, Exciting, etc) and Harvey (Speed, All New, Green Hornet, etc).

But high grade Schomburg covers will be wallet stressors.

Luckily, I discovered all those titles long ago. I fell in love with Schomburg’s Timely work. But Timelys have NEVER been very affordable. I can thank my buddy Redbeard for turning me on to his other work. I went hog wild on my hunt for these very affordable (at the time) titles. Especially, the war covers. I’m just down now to some of the earlier issues now. Amazing how scarce a lot of them were back then even though they were relatively cheap due to low demand.

Going to start a list.  Any recommendations? Hopefully they aren't too expensive...(:

Awesome book buddy.  I like, and by “like” I mean, it’s all I can afford, mid-run Marvel Mystery issues.  Usually low grade issues are fairly “cheap” and they’re packed with action.  Torch, Cap they have it all.

Even low grade and even incomplete copies have risen way out of the reach of most collectors.

Depends on what you call “cheap”. Even incomplete copies of Young Allies are no longer “cheap” to me.

Still a good chunk of money any way you slice it.  I look for complete low grade copies.  Almost nothing in the top ten of the main titles.  If I can get a few Schomburg war cover issues that are complete for a couple grand a piece, I consider that a win (for me).

Say this on FB marketplace. What is it? $1.00 for a comic in 1942? Looks magazine size. Please experts on GA educate me.

Yes, it's a 70s reprint from a series DC did in magazine format (13" by 10") of all their big golden age keys, Famous First Edition. It cost $1 as opposed to the original which cost a dime.

That mag in that grade is correctly priced.
