The Yancy Street Collection is somewhat complete!
For the past 4 years I have laboured hard attempting to collect the Lee/Kirby FF issues 1-102 and annuals 1 thru 7. I have also attempted to collect each of these issues with a pedigree designation without breaking the bank. As many of you may know FF pedigree issues do not come up for sale often and many can be well out of my own price range.
I have amassed 32 or so FF pedigree books both raw and CGC copies through various sites. Althoug
I need feedback to this question,
Which pedigree is more obscure and sought after, White Mounains or Green Rivers. I'm seriously interested in opinions or feedback to this important question. Red, I believe you may have an opinion, but could it be unbiased?
Love your Greeny FF's!
Red you have a very special collection full of beautiful Green River pedigree's. I myself, am mainly an FF collector, and I'm only familiar with the FF registry sets. Other than your Greenies Red, I think Captain Tripps and CGC World are your competitors for the most pedigree's of an individual type. Captain Tripps, well, we all know what his set is all about, but CGC World has a collection full of beautiful White Mountains. I'm a late comer into the world of pedigree'
I just picked up the greatest Hulk vs Thing Issue!
Fantastic Four #12 maybe one of the greatest silver age issues period. To top that, it is the greatest Hulk vs Thing battle and the first time they meet. I purchased this issue raw and I'm happy with the grade received. Cover is in spectacular shape with good gloss. Nice specimen from the Big Apple Collection.
Has anyone noticed?
The scoring for my Fantastic Four #48 9.0 was alotted 756 points in the Fantastic Four set type. In the Silver Surfer set type it registers 1000 points. Is there some reason for the significant difference or has anyone even noticed?
The dilemma continues!
If you read my last journal entry I was eagerly awaiting my graded copy of FF #29 from CGC. I have been at war with my inner self on deciding whether it is more worth while to buy risky ungraded Fantastic Four pedigrees or CGC graded copies that come up for auction or sale?
I must say I am pleased with the outcome of this purchase and grading. I purchased FF # 29 copy for less than have the price of my FF #22 Big Apple copy 9.0 and FF #29 received an 8.0 with the Big
My dilemma of purchasing graded CGC copies vs. raw copies and then grading continues...
I recently purchased 2 fantastic four pedigree copies from a well known dealer. The first Fantastic Four copy issue 22 was CGC graded and received a 9.0 with the Big Apple pedigree for $500.00. The second issue is Fantastic Four Big Apple copy and is not CGC graded. The advertised grade was VF/NM and I purchased for less than half the price of first issue at $225.00.
There are obviously no guarantee o
The great dilemma, buying raw comics vs CGC graded!
If familiar with any of my previous journal entries, you may know that my interest is in Fantastic Four pedigree's. And I'm certain most comic collectors are aware that high grade CGC comics and especially pedigree CGC copies can be astronomical in price. This is where my dilemma has begun! Should I purchase raw graded pedigree comics and submit to CGC or purchase CGC graded pedigree copies off open market?
The biggest problem that I h
Here is some information on silver age pedigree gathered from multiple internet sources (Will continue to update)!!!
Bethlehem Collection
In 1990, Joe Rainone was approached by a man at a convention who said he had a huge collection of comics for sell if he could come up with $30,000. Joe talked it over with his partner Phil Weiss, who where both initially apprehensive until the man had explained he was an attorney helping liquidate the estate of one Stanley Pachon in Bethlehem, PA. Here is my List!
HERE IS MY PERSONAL OPINION OF THE BEST SILVER AGE PEDIGREES THAT I HAVE SEEN:
1.PACIFIC COAST- Hands down the best overall silver age pedigree. Great page quality, flat and glossy covers with minimal spine rolls. Badge of Honour, make them very enticing! *(FYI, some issues do not have badge of honour for some reason).
2.WHITE MOUNTAIN- Very nice specimens, flat, good page quality and minimal spine rolls. Too bad for the cover dates. By far the most sought after of all
Part II of Comic Book Nostalgia.
As a continued thought from my last journal posting, I like to reiterate my passion for collecting CGC graded Fantastic Four issues. The thought of having all my favourite issues preserved with an attached grade and having a public medium such as the comic registry to share them with everyone is very exciting! Now in my early 30?s, I must state that I have Pedigree Fever! My passion for collecting CGC grade FF issues has progressed to include pedigrees. I ha
When I began collecting....
When I began collecting comics in the 80?s (11 yrs of age), life seemed so simple and fun. I remember fondly getting on my bike and riding to the local comic book store (Capital City Comics), and thumbing through long boxes in search of Fantastic Four and Transformer issues. Silver age FF issues were my favourite, it took me to a time period that I could not relate and that captivated me! The stories by Stan and art by Jack took me places within my own mind that w
