My guess would be 5.5. I could be .5 off in either direction.
Sounds incredible.

I meant my Superman 1 is in that grade range. I don't have anything for sale.
I know. I just meant what grade?

I’m happy to hear that these books were recovered. It’s a sickening thought for such historic books to be lost/stolen.
It’s been almost 3 years and I’m still searching for my Action Comics #1 CGC Page 7 that was lost/stolen while in-route to me by FedEx.

Thanks for mentioning this.
Mine is in this general vicinity, so it'll be fun to see what it brings.
Which copy is yours?

While this is true of many books, when I look at the “Big 4” (Action #1, Tec #27, Superman #1 and Batman #1) and how prices have climbed over the years, it’s hard not to kick oneself after seeing the same copies sell for 2x, 3x as much not all that long after.

My gut is, this Cap #1 should top the Batman #1 due to eye appeal, condition of the spine and superior PQ.
Batman #1 has pulled away from Cap #1, but this is more than just a .5 difference. Both great books for sure.

When does the auction begin ?
I don’t believe a date has been listed yet.

How much do you guys think the Superman #1 CGC 5.0 will go for in Heritage’s auction?

Well, after having learned this week of a boardie that picked up both an Action 1 and Tec 27 in one shot , I was hoping to congratulate a second.
Is this another April Fools prank or do you speak truth?

Nice Call!!!! Right on the nose! I would have guessed higher!
Thanks. I don’t think 15K would have been out of bounds.
Do you have any scans of the Action #1 CGC 1.5?

I've been trying to figure out the best place to share these! This thread seems like the right spot. Some boardies may have already heard that Danielle & I picked up a golden age collection last month. Here are some of the early Superman/Actions. Many of these are Original owner, the rest were purchased second hand between 1938-1968. I'll be starting a thread in general at some point to tell the story but wanted to share some pics
Speechless!

Right. it just seems that there’s a lot more buzz and events around this years 80th. I’ll be curious to see the sales numbers compared to Action 1000 last year
I didn’t follow what DC did for Superman very closely last year but if hype is bigger this time around, I suppose it makes sense. Batman is the more popular of the two characters.

DC celebrated Superman last year.

Not even close. ComicConnect sold a Bat 1 5.0 within last month for $240K.
Do you have larger scans of the Batman #1 0.5 in your sig-line? It looks incredible!

Using this scale ( which I think is a little lite on a few but overall very solid all the way around as the lower grade books seem very hard to nail down) what do you think the FMV on the same books CGC complete, coverless NG blue label would be??? Coverless has now become a real option for many trying to obtain these 10 ( who would have thought huh)
This is a really rough estimate without looking at GPA. Wide range due to the unpredictability of live auctions and the desirability for sharp, complete interiors with high PQ.
Action #1...............75-100K
Tec #27.................50-75K
Superman #1........20-30K
Batman #1............12-15K
Marvel #1.............10-15K
Cap #1.................10-13K
Whiz #2.................6-8K
Flash #1................6-8K
Action #7...............6-8K
Tec #31.................6-8K
AA #16..................6-8K

I have an extensive archive of every copy of Superman #1 (and other big books) that I can find. But I don’t always label them by owner, nor do I always know who owns them. So it’s very possible that I’ve seen it but forgotten who it came from.
