  1. Great minds do think alike. (thumbs u I would also add Tec #405 to the list. Still tough to find in high grade and features the 1st League of Assassins. I have always liked that book. Another one that will hold its value over time will be Bats #251 with the classic Joker cover. There are tons of copies out there in HG, but it continues to sell well and slowly move up in price. A couple of others that are surprisingly tough in HG are Tec #397 and Bats #245. Both are worth snagging if you can find them in 9.0+. In any case, you really can't go wrong with picking up HG copies of Adams cover Bats and Tecs. (thumbs u
  2. That is a stunning 9.4 you have. FWIW, I have always focused on accumulating multiples of #227 when hoarding because the cover is so cool. However, #232 is a way more significant book. Batman #234 is a nice book as well, but only commands the high prices due to the lower numbers in high grade. Two-Face is a decent villain, but does not come close to good old Ras. If someone is looking for the best in BA Bats reading, the arc starting in #232, then followed up with in #243 and #244 can't be beat. (thumbs u
  3. 8.0-9.0 copies come up for sale pretty regularly. Keep watch on eBay, Heritage, ComicLink, ComicConnect and here on the boards. I have 4 graded copies right now but am not selling. I am in hoarding mode now to keep pace with Kimik! Based on what you have been posting, you are well ahead of me in the hoarding department right now.
  4. Why did you sell it to someone who didn't treasure it enough to keep it more than a year? WTF? Are we supposed to interrogate buyers of comic books what their intentions are before we can sell to them? Yes. I am allowed to buy to flip, but if you buy my books it is illegal, unethical, and immoral to resell them........
  5. It is a good one, but I would argue that Batman #232 would be the biggest Adams Batman key from a story point of view. The story is good and it introduces the biggest Batman villain since the Golden Age. However, from a value point it would be Batman #227 or Tec #400 (although I think Tec #400 is going to start dropping as more copies hit the census).
  6. Nice copy! You are putting a great run together. (thumbs u
  7. Can't believe, there is only 51 more days till the movie . I can't believe the prices in auctions for 5.0s right now. Granted, the Lonestar comics copy was a looking 5.0, but there is a bit of a correction trend right now regardless. No bad news is allowed in our little protected bubble here! We kill messengers bearing bad tidings, you know. I am all for a market correction after the movie so I can buy a nice copy at more reasonable prices.

  9. Is it a package deal with the new "9.0" #22?
  10. All in all, the Twin Cities books look to be more tightly graded than those Savannah books were. After receiving the two Savannah books I won with stink bids, I really wish I had left them alone...........
  11. New on the census to me. I wonder if this is the copy Rick sold over a year ago. That is a very soft 9.0 compared to the others. Look at that crease in the top left corner/edge. The spine dings are fine, but how does a book get a 9.0 with all of that top edge damage? That wear on the top left corner/edge as you mention is a bit much. Hard to say if one can only examine it like the Heritage scans. Wow, still no SC22 in 9.2 yet... I know people say it all the time but it really does seem that CGC has gotten softer at the upper tiers. 2 examples that just stuck out to me recently are the 9.4 X-Men 1 that Clink has up right now for auction. Also if you think this 9.0 Showcase 22 looks bad (and it does look bad with that wear at the ULFC) check out the Twin Cities Action 252 9.0. For my book not better then an 8.0. http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=7033&Lot_No=91002 I agree on a personal grading basis, but since I have had plenty of similar books come back as 8.5 I would have put it there instead on a CGC basis. The damage along the top edge of that new 9.0 SC #22 looks the same as a couple of 7.5s I have owned in the past.........

  13. I think there`s pretty clear consensus among knowledgeable DC collectors that there are more than 3 top tier SA DC keys. What makes a top tier SA key, though? In my mind it is the books that most collectors, not just SA DC collectors, accept as being key? Most Marvel fanboys will recognize SC #4, SC #22 and B&B #28, and maybe Adventure #247 (but not as much with the younger collecting crowd since the Legion has not been as relevant as it used to be for a couple or three decades now). Outside of that, the other SA keys are significant in the DCU, but not as much overall.
  14. Great story. When I was a kid my grandfather gave my brother and I a few hockey cards he found in a drawer in the basement that my uncle had when he was a kid. Being only 6 at the time, I thought that the TV set design on them was cool. There was one from the Bruins with this kid named Bobby Orr on it, but being an Edmonton Oilers fan it did not mean much to me. All I cared about were my stacks of Gretzky, Messier, and other Oilers rookie cards. Fast forward a few months later and my brother and I were heading to my grandparents for the weekend. We were playing hockey card "hockey" against one another (basically, one lineup of Gretzky cards (several rookies) vs. another). My mom said to clean up before we left or she would throw the cards out. We didn't, and she kept her word. Needless to say, my uncle's old Bobby Orr rookie card got tossed out with all the rest........
  15. it is already worth more in some circles... It definitely is in my small circle......... I do think that the SC#22 is a huge DC silver age key, but the SC#4 books seem to be more scarce than the SC#22's. I don't know if they are more scarce, but the market is not the strongest right now so fewer copies are trading hands. SC #22 was in the same boat just a couple of years ago........ Yeah, I think it was only about 2+ years ago that a SC#22 could be had for around guide (or even less). I still remember having problems finding a SC22 2 years ago. Once the movie stuff hit the news, it was a lot easier for me to get my SC22. that's because 3 years ago I started buying up every copy in the market And 4 years ago you could land VG/FN copies for $600 - $700. I can remember passing on numerous 4.0 - 5.0 books since they were always available. Three years ago several people started to clue in and as they say "the rest is history". FWIW, it looks like B&B #28 is starting to pick up right now like SC #22 did in late 2008/early 2009.................
  16. That pretty much covers it in my book They are the only 3 mega-keys coming to mind at the moment for DC silver age. (unless you want to count the first issues of the JLA, GL the Flash(105) as well...) SC 4 B&B 28 Adventure 247 SC 22 Flash 105 Showcase 17 B&B 34 Showcase 34 Showcase 9 Showcase 30 JLA 1 GL 1 OAW 81, 83 GI Combat 87 If you are talking big keys, then there are only 3 top tier SA DCs - B&B #28, SC #4 and SC #22. Otherwise, the list above is probably a good one to chase now before some of the 2nd and 3rd tier keys take off...........

  19. GL #1 has definitely benefited from the movie hype. The funny thing about GL #1 is that the supply of 7.0+ copies that was there 2 - 3 years ago has dried up just like the other SA DC keys. I am beginning to wonder whether I should go ahead with my planned sale of my last copy (7.0) closer to the movie or hold on to it a bit longer.
  20. Looks like the $4500 sale on Clink is influencing the offers on the other two? FWIW, the comicconnect copy looks to be the nicer of the two so it will probably sell first.
  21. Hmm.......which book to chase - this one or the Twin Cities 6.5? If you don't mind paying the extra premium for a pedigree and nice appeal. Twin Cites. Twin Cities copy Agreed. This copy is in the right grade range for me, but I am leery of paying for the "pedigree" premium since it seems like there are new pedigrees every few months now.
  22. Hmm.......which book to chase - this one or the Twin Cities 6.5?
  23. We are seeing similar action with SC #22 as well, now, with prices pulling back a bit in most grades from last year/earlier this year. There is a bit of a seasonal impact, but a lot of that rise was also driven by speculators taking positions for the movie. It will be interesting to see what happens if the movie is a hit (if it flops, look out below). My guess is a small pull back after the fact once the hype dies down, but if there are a flood of speculative copies on the market then prices may pull back more significantly. The problem books like SC #23 and #24 face are that they are not true keys and therefore only completists chase them. I can see them being hit harder than SC #22 if more supply pops up.
  24. You should start a consignment business that competes with Clink. (thumbs u
  25. This is probably the tip of the iceberg. There will be more copies surfacing closer to the movie...............
