  1. How it started: 5-ish How it's going: 3.5-ish
  2. I'm landing around 4. The water damage is going to kill you, but I think there's 4 upside because of how well it presents from the front.
  3. The spine damage "breaks color" (you can see the white where the tics are). Pressing won't do anything to address that. For modern books like this that aren't high value, they basically need to be pristine for grading to be financially viable. This book falls short of that.
  4. On the "Is this worth grading?" question, in general I'd suggest that there are three considerations: 1. Is it a high value book? 2. Is it in excellent condition? 3. Do I have a personal desire to have it slabbed? You don't need all three of these to be true of course, but the more you have of one the less you need of the others. For your example here, it's not a high value book and it's not in very good shape. Unless you really want it graded just for you, it doesn't make sense here.
  5. Pretty sure I saw this same book in a facebook thread not too long ago. FWIW, the consensus there was trimmed also.
  6. Im at 4.5/5.0. Love the Frank Zappa appearance though.
  7. It's like someone stuck it in a book press, or under under something heavy. Even with the weird pressing, I still think this gets to at least a 5.0 because of how clean the edges and corners are. I'd bet purple label though.
  8. Appreciate the thoughts. I have some optimism that the back cover will clean and press well.
  9. I'm on team 6.5. It's just so much cleaner than the Silver Surfer #4 5.5 I just got back and would be an 8 I were king of the world. But since I'm not, and the CGC hammers stains I think it's going to really hold the grade down. Hopefully the stain being on the back allows for a little more upside than the 6.0 that they hit me with on this book due to staining.
  10. Grader Notes light fade to cover moderate creasing to cover very light spine splits to cover very light tears to cover
  11. It’s almost like the whole outer edge was cut by a dull blade. Still, a beautiful book. 8.5/9.0
  12. Grader must have really hated the readers crease. Still, feels harsh to me.
  13. Any help is appreciated! Edit: more photos added now that I have it in hand
  14. I think you're at 8.5-9.0. I own a 7.5 of this book, and yours looks significantly better than mine.
