    I'm at around a 3. Despite Namor's mastery over all things water, I think the CGC is going to hammer you for the water damage, pieces missing, and what looks like black mold.

    I'm in the 9.4/9.6 range. Here's information on pressing: https://www.cgccomics.com/pressing/ It's generally recommended to get books pressed before grading, as it often "pays for itself" in the form of a higher grade than the book otherwise would have received. The CGC offers this service, as well as many 3rd parties.

    I think it’s a printing defect. I have two newsstand copies I bought decades ago that have the same mark. And about 2 months ago, I saw yet another copy at a show with the same mark. Tomorrow I’ll dig one of mine out and post a photo. They both got 8.5’s iIRC so I’ll go ahead and make that my guess for OP’s book. edit: here’s pictures:

    The fingerprints really pop in those photos. 7.5 still feels a little harsh, but 8ish feels like the absolute max to me.
