  1. I have to disagree with you on the big price difference will have an effect on submissions. The economic benfit is . The auction results speak for themselves first of all, you could be taking hundreds of thousands of dollars price differential especially on top tier books in very high grade. Second, all auction houses will front the costs of CGC grading upfront for the consignment, so I do not see if money is an issue getting any of the major players to grade the books. the economic Benefit is get the most $$$ and CGC reputation among the general public is that they are the "king " of grading services by a mile. It is not even close. I have carefully looked at the other guys grading for years now and I believe CGC is far more consistent as too the actual grade the book should have gotten in my opinion. Yes, there are going to be great examples of so under/overgrading for both of the big boys. But there is no way I would ever grade away from CGC for any book over 10K... period.
  2. agreed, by should it say Vol 1 No1?... for the 1941 version, also I agree the staples....
  3. I do not know if this was a clue to this mystery but look at the inside cover bottom on the publishing information ...it says " V2. No 1....so this appears to be a second edition or authorized printing? Why would the 1941 original say V2.????
  4. any idea if a reprint where it came from? could this be some type of counterfeit or something. I am confused?
  5. remember they said slightly over 5000 books, like 5200 so the math might still be close. They appear to still be adding a few, the total now is 384
  6. It just seems to get better and better, record breaking year for GA sales lead by promise and the big guns....it will continue in 2022 and year we could break 100M in sales next year.
  7. 383 Promise collection books so far in the upcoming HA Sign auction including Superboy #1. 9.4...any guesses, record price?
  8. great top see shows back on top but miss SDCC and Wonder-con. thanks for a great report.
  9. their weekly auction platform has room to expand, and they are agressive in their adding better and better material to these weekly auctions. I suppose they could go up to 2000 items per week or more. So I think there is room, now that they have expanded the Signature auctions from four to six, I suppose they could do it every 6 weeks instead of 8 and cram in a couple more in the year timeframe. What is so impressive is the ability of our current GA/SA market to handle the price increases but as you note the volume increases. Yes, the GA/SA market has adjusted is doing just fine. There is plenty of room for a new auction company, but the issue still remains...can they get the HA overflow or CC overflow...very interesting time to be a GA/SA TCBC.
  10. go to the Ha website and look at future auctions and click on the Aug1/2 auction site and under search type: Promise. Great stuff.....
  11. I agree, the pulps are different animals entirely. Page quality and unheard of white page quality will be a very significant value factor here. I think a 9.8 comic book wise will be almost impossible in the pulp area, there could be a few. Someone needs to create a pulp value website tracking all of these auctions, especially the new ones, as I see price changing in the pulp world to be accerlated greatly. Maybe Bookery can have a updated website which could post the values if you purchased the price guide. As the pulp market expands, the need for information increases and for prices to increase on a solid foundation some reference site which is in current market time price wise would aid in pulp collecting coming into the 20220's collectable world. Any suggestions?
  12. I will second that, but these guys know what it takes to put a splash in the market, what they need is a like 1500 to 2000 minimum lot auction and run with it...and have a 2000 lot waiting in the wings both quality and quantity . Look for the commission structure to benefit both buyer and seller, as least in the beginning. The greatest threat is not toHa.com or even CC to some extent but to CL and other auction houses. Look for a possible merger/ purchase of one the the smaller guys if they are successful.
  13. I could see 199K for a white paged coverless copy or something close..he should consider himself luckly if he breaks 100K
  14. WOW....some great material... BATs #1 8.0 looks super..they certainly are a big player...rates both seller and buyer fees....?
  15. WOW 59 Promise books up for auction on the Aug1-2 weekly HA auction...some very great material there...this could be the window to pick up one or two promise books at a very reasonable price level....thoughts on selection available?
  16. I will second that...easy 100K plus now
  17. He did, the interesting question is will Pulp grading be more expensive than comic book grading, given the fact you have a very large page count that needs to be verified. I see additonal work here, plus who or what determines the market value, possibily the Guide published Ha or will there be some sort of GPA for pulps created?. Rings or BLB...I would assume that CGC would go in the direction of BLB...it is possible they could grade comic book collectables such as rings or EC fan additic kits etc...they will expand for sure in the future.
  18. Good call, next logical choice, but I disagree with pulps and being too late....when you see the price growth over the next 5 years from the day the first CGC graded pulp hits the internet you are gonna wish you had the opportunity to buy them at today's prices.\ and especially ultra high grade copies.
  19. We as old timers and other advanced collectors still have time to buy, especially on E-bay etc as we are still ahead of the curve, however that widow is closing...
  20. New President of CGC has confirmed in a interview that CGC will grade pulps and will still award the "blue" unrestored label to pulps which are trimmed and take that into account in the overall grading of the issue. As a pulp collector of the 1970's on this is an earthquake development our the pulp collecting world. Which quite recently has been stirred up by the Big 3 auction houses now getting into separate auctions with HA leading the way, CC following the leader with a current auction right now, and other will follow. CC or ComicConnect just announced today that will be attending "pulpfest". Watch for new collectors and investors to enter the pulp market now that CGC certified pulps as collectable and gradable. Any thoughts?
  21. if bumped to 9.8 it just takes 2 bidders to go thru the roof and it would
