  1. I would honestly consider getting this conserved to re-attach the cover, as I have seen some qualified books (for married covers) loose the 'married' designation after conservation (and go to a blue/grey label with a grade bump).
  2. I think this is the place to ask, but can anybody help confirm if the issue I have is in fact a Nova Scotia pedigree? Would be wild to find that I've had a pedigree book for one of my favourite series all this time! There is a very obvious M on the cover, though hard to see in my photos. It almost seems like a previous own might have slightly erased it during cleaning (as the part that overlaps the red ink in the title is noticeably darker, as if it wasn't touched)? If this is most likely a pedigree, would it be eligible for a re-holdering with a label update? PICS IN THE SPOILER
  3. In theory I could see this being conserved, though I have a feeling simply due to the amount of needed leaf casting will be what pushes it out into restored territory. I have had books conserved before that CGC initially said would be fine conserved, but once graded they decided the amount of work done was slightly more than expected and thus deserved restoration classification (in my case it was reinforcing both cover wrap and centrefolds, on each side of the wraps)
  4. Yup I feel your pain, I refer to this as the ARCHANGEL-FACTOR Since that is the '1st appearance' mistake I ever noticed for a character I loved as a kid, and have been screaming into the void ever since the entire world decided - and CGC continues to perpetuate - his first appearance was AFTER two cameos and a full multi-page appearance in three prior issues
  5. I honestly sometimes wish CGC would not have ever put 'content notes' on the labels and simply stuck to mentioning factual items regarding the book itself (creative credits, dates, publishers) and use that area for limited graders notes (manufacturing defects, bends, creases, inner page notes etc...) which would make a market desire for obtaining the most 'clean' empty copy of a book (not one with several items of condition notes). Let the consumers decide and research WHY a comic is important.
  6. It's great to hear about those who have not read the book getting into the new movie (and wanting more). Speaks volumes about how well they translated it for film and still remaining accessible.
  7. ITT: People arguing over a definition without acknowledging that dictionaries are descriptive, not prescriptive. The definition of cameo could have meant only one thing, and not be valid to #180 when it was first published, but it has found alternate meaning and usage over the years. When somebody says cameo appearance we know what that means in context to comics. #180 is the first appearance of Wolverine (cameo appearance). #181 is the first full appearance and first cover appearance of Wolverine. ...but the market values one more than the other. IT'S EASY!
  8. It did feel I just finished binging the first 3 or 4 episodes of a series and as if I could start on the next batch right away. Can't wait to watch both back-to-back one day. This is for sure something that needs to be watched all at once for the full experience. Though i'm not sure any of my issues with it will resolve if they touch on them in the second, as most are core elements which are better early on as they underscore just how important all character decisions are (spice just seems like just another oil or gold, no real stress on how much the entire galaxy hinges on it and the extent of fighting over it / control - just as water is to the Fremen mirrors that importance). Another thing I missed, but understand why it was cut, was the intrigue over finding out the spy, including accusing Jessica as a distraction, and just how impressive it was to get Yueh as a spy with his imperial conditioning (Which made the Baron more impressive to have done so).
  9. Saw it yesterday, as the first movie seen in a public theatre since the world went to hell (went to an afternoon showing and it only had a total of five people in it, two of which were my guests). Very good adaptation and an amazing sensory experience, but it's very hard for me to form any serious criticism of items yet because I feel the issues I have with it were made in order for it to best be approached by those fresh to the franchise. I will have to see it again to be sure of things; such as I felt scenes moved too quickly in the first act, and many shots would have benefited from holding longer and even slowing down the dialogue (which I felt was mixed poorly at times). On the flip side, some general concepts felt minimized and not given the weight needed to convey their grand importance in the universe - such as how much the universe is reliant on spice, and just how intense the reverence for body water by the Fremen is), but like I said, possibly negligible complaints that were justified for a general audience.
  10. So, this is a rare trailer that didn't outright give everything away...so kudos to that at least. Looks better than I expected (though palm cutting still, seriously, he's a doctor - he would know its better to cut literally anywhere else other than the least fleshy parts we use daily!) Since I haven't spoiled myself on the movie, I'm going to just safely assume that another scientist will reproduce the experiment on himself (or take Morbius' blood for a transfusion), lose control and start killing, but master his powers in less time than it took Morbius, and quickly become the main villain just in time for a mirror match climax that involves some sort of riveting commentary like "we are both monsters now....NO, YOU are a monster -I am a man!" or "You and I are more alike than you think..."). Blazing that classic trail as established by Iron Man, Ant-Man, Venom, Hulk...and...all the rest of em, le sigh
  11. CLZ stated they are aware of it, they just decided they didn't want to wait for it since GC doesn't have a clear timeline & delivery date for developing it - but it is in the pipeline.
  12. I'll be honest, this sounds like CLZ really needs to rethink how they plan their projects out if they put all their eggs in the basket of a cobbled together API that was made just for them, for free, with no guarantees of service or updates ever. I'm surprised GoCollect even gave that much, let alone kept it active for years. I've had clients who needed a custom API from another venue, and when they did provide a custom solution just to appease the client those features would never been the focus of the project - it's nice they are there, but don't you dare rely on them unless solid contracts and transparency are in place GC not supporting a legacy api on their new platform makes sense, as migrating and maintenance for something that was never meant to be official is costly, and since they are developing a free API anyways I don't see why CLZ won't start using that in the future.
  13. "Morbius is a Marvel character who has been an important part of the universe." When was this exactly?
  14. It's been long over due! Your's was the first book I bought when I started on my obsession - but due to rarity and costs its been a slow build (right now I have four books at home graded - all but one are restored, and one I just picked up raw that is being conserved and graded)
  15. Damn! nice pick up - I was specifically looking for a higher grade HOS92 to trade up to
  16. Start to? If that isn't your ideal woman from the get go I don't know what to say! Goth skull-ladies are the pinnacle of beauty!
  17. This is one of the other covers on my lady-skull hunt list. I passed on a mid-grade copy years ago and have regretted it ever since
  18. It took me far too long to find this book at a price I could afford I think this might have been the longest I've ever hunted for a specific book - and surprisingly I stumbled on THREE opportunities for it last month after years of nothing (One was this which I bought, the other was a loose COVER ONLY which I also bought, and the third is a very nice restored copy that was a little too out of line in its price - but not so much that I'm not still thinking about it) Jewelled up skull faced ladies are the best cover theme...it goes perfect with Fantastic Fears #8 (which basically has the exact same skull woman on the cover)
  19. I'm going to join the club by association, since I find and locate the keys my friend owns - as well as handle all offers and selling for him too - so basically I use his money for comic collecting fun hunting, but he gets to keep em at his house (originally purchased on Ebay decades ago, but it was advertised as unrestored. It wasn't until he had it signed and graded that the restoration was noticed: Minor CT, tear seal, and some glue)
  20. Not sure if anyone saw this tonight (Graded by the other guys though), but this is a massive leap in price for this issue at that grade (2.5, and honestly in my opinion about 0.5 too high from the looks of it) - especially when you consider the only other sale this year was for a CGC 7.5 that wen't for $2,300. I think we will see much more of this boost to the 'bottom' grades for this series (as well as other core Golden Age series like Adventure Comics) - as many mid/high grades are perceived as automatically out of reach for many, so bidding wars get heated over the absolute lowest grades that hit the market.
  21. Great buyer! You should totally sell him all your cool comics! do it!
  22. Please no hall of shamers or probies. We will ship anywhere in North America for $18 for a single graded book. All prices are in USD, and I only accept Pay Pal (or e-transfer for fellow Canadians). No returns on graded books. First timestamped gets it over any ongoing PM offers. Just one book for this week which I didn't list in my last sales thread since I wanted to keep it all Golden Age, without further ado... Swamp Thing #10 CGC 9.4 - Signature Series, Signed by Bernie Wrightson (in gold ink) White Pages Last Bernie Wrightson issue. Goes without saying that if you wanted to have a book signed by Wrightson, this was the series to get it done on - and finding signed copies is getting rather hard (especially ones with decent looking signatures. I've seen many signed with black ink over top heavy black covers making it very hard to see) This was one of my favourite covers of his Swamp Thing run, and his signature is positioned well over the amazing art. He signed in gold ink, and it was rather hard for me to photograph - but when you have it in hand it shimmers in the light much like the new CGC pedigree labels do. GPA shows a signature series 7.5 of this issue last sold in April this year for $870, and the signed 9.8 went for a steal at $1650 last year...but since I enjoy chaos how about... $650 SOLD VIA PM
  23. He and Killer Moth were the villains her her excellent Year One comic, which it sounds like this is all pulling from. I can totally see them simply cutting Moth and just using Firefly since it would offer more focus and he is visually more interesting (due to all the fire). Firefly as a cinematic villain makes way more sense to me than many other bat-foes.
  24. Finally rented it, and it was...okay. Starro was the absolute star of the movie, and for that alone I think made it worth watching. Would have preferred he survive, but that's minor and easily undone if need be for future use. Found the pacing, most dialogue, and score to be subpar but did look good for the most part (other than some of the poorest composite green screen backgrounds I've seen recently in a major film) and managed to hold my interest the entire time (plot threads were good with linking many of the characters - including Starro - to a central theme that they thankfully didn't have to spell out for the audience). Enjoyed the deaths, as some were honestly not expected and that sort of surprise is a refreshing rarity these days. Would 100% been better had it included full frontal male nudity. El Presidente? More like, el caliente!
