  1. I think the general rule of thumb goes like this: Moebius gets the pass. Crumb gets the pass. Everyone else is a production illustrator (in their eyes). Maybe talented and capable of a “piece” or two of something exceptional, but generally not thought much of (or really thought of much for that matter).
  2. Then I would revise my list to remove number 8 and the Honorable mention of JSP...the other 12 out of 14 names I listed stand.
  3. It was a solid effort on many levels. Yeah the CGI looked bad, and they played fast and loose with the story, but overall solid B for me. I really felt bad watching the scene where RD goes off on the guy who pushed his daughter out of the shop. It just looked painful watching his stiff body having to be CGI adjusted to make it seem like he was stomping the guy. It was a very poor directorial decision that could have been done better from a POV ground up shot from the victims perspective. There were a few moments like that but overall not enough to take away from the film. Not a great movie but enjoyable and moderately well done. Also I had no problem with the amount of lines Anna Paquin had. I find her to be a bit limited as an actress based on the material she normally does, but here she shinned in a small but vital role. People counting her lines are “losing the -script” when it comes to what movie making should be.
  4. Sadly that’s worked on me. I feel sad when I think about what Disney has done to Star Wars, I cant believe what a poorly written mishmash of garbage the series has become...having said that of course I’m gonna honor the past and throw at least dollar theater or rental money at this. I have to see, in some format, how Disney finally puts the dagger into the old bird. From Star Wars to Star Ears going forward.
  5. Assuming we aren’t just talking the initial run of ASM and mean the character as a whole here is my list. I give a lot of credit for issues drawn and runs defined as well as talent. Vess for example while immensely talented just had to little work to be considered, same for Zeck. 1. Ditko 2. Romita 3. Gil Kane 4. Bagley 5. Andru 6. McFarlane 7. Sal B. 8. Sauvik 9. H. Ramos 10. Frenz Honorable Mentions Pollard, Larsen, JRJR, and Joe St. Pierre
  6. or more Sal Or at least more perlin!
  7. Hmmm...Mets 2nd game of the season is the day before the March show....hmmm....
  8. Had another show end stupidly after years of promise, first legion now “Man in the High Castle”. Seems to be an epidemic between these two and (for some) GoT.
  9. I am surprised, poorly done episode that actually was sorta bad. Poor directing and acting, reminded me of a bad copy of the magnificent 7. Hoping that was just an aberration and that next weeks is back on track.
  10. I was getting nearly 300 a page for average content Butler Sable this auction. I have been doing well with them for a while, its one of those niche things that a few guys go after. If you don't live in NYC or someplace HA has offices, you can always just meet one of their rep's at a convention and do a hand off there. Part of the reason I do the NJ art show 2x a year, besides seeing all the art and making some purchases, is that I can just hand my material off (after an inventory session) at the end of the show. It really saves a lot of money, especially if you have like 200-300 pieces.
  11. It’s so good...I know Disney of course will find some spectacular way to ruin it, I’m just hoping they hold off til at least the end of the season.
  12. It just seems weird. I get 50-75 for color guides before from the era with good content. I think it was just to late on a time no one was looking. I bought a few good pieces Saturday on the cheap so what goes around comes around I guess.
  13. Bah horrible auction for me, actually lost on the color guides. Guess historic Copper Age marvel color guides are worth 25 a page, maybe average books 5-10 a page? Learning every day.
  14. My wife used to set up with me at comic book shows and sports card shows back in the early 2000’s. She collected basketball cards in the 90s during middle school so my collecting made total sense to her. She and my kids know as much about comic art as many actual collectors. She really likes Sienkiewicz New Mutants because it’s closer to fine art without looking as chaotic/forced like his older work. She also likes early Bernie Wrightson with that brush look. My daughters just like Parobeck I believe, but their pretty young and like DC superhero girls so I think it’s just the style. In 21 years together she has never once questioned an art purchase, and likes to help me package up art when I sell a piece. She is shocked though how much prices have gone up since we first got together. She is still my best friend after 20 years. I don’t tend to talk about her or anything personal but F it the question was asked and I’ll throw down for her anytime.
  15. My set of color guides for Secret Wars issue 8 comes up at the very end tonight, what’s that like 11pm est?
  16. I love how defensive he was about this movie during its release as compared to him now slyly throwing the entire film under the bus. Trying to distance himself from it now that it’s a mega bomb.
  17. Really enjoy this show, it feels like actual “Star Wars” to me. I’m liking it so much, I am almost afraid of how they will screw it up in the coming weeks lol. I guess I’m still Disney gun-shy and should just go with it.
  18. man, im getting all these GREAT DEALS on golden age art all of the sudden...
  19. Did those Mignola's go really really cheaply? Like all of them?
  20. Bah, sold one of my last russ Manning tarzan covers for 1/2 price of what they go for. I know it wasnt overly good but still jeez. Page did ok, cover was big disappointment, expected at least 4k on it.
