  1. I don’t see that though. nearly every major movie of the last few years is a sequel or remake. It’s clear remakes/sequels are the driving force in box office and have been for many years. Even Joker on some level falls into this category since it’s all well known characters/core material and the 6th time the character was in a major studio picture. It has similar paid reviews too. The last terminator movie did well enough and it was received very badly by the paid critics AND fans. The only thing making this stand out about this movie seems to be the social commentary narrative that defined this movie and it’s marketing. I think really seems to be what killed this, this was the wrong franchise to go “woke” with For lack of a better term.
  2. If this movie is so good or at least decent, and it’s a loved franchise...why are people not going to it? It gets good paid reviews, highly positive media coverage too. Why did people avoid it?
  3. Oh agreed on many levels. This current trajectory is just nuts like I said. It’s not sustainable. I’m just saying this card is impossible to find and impossible in grade (think 2 exist). It’s not insane to me to think the most collected modern players hardest most brag worthy card would be chased to insane record levels. However I just saw the auction...it was Brent and Betsy selling it...that’s concerning considering their recent scandals. That puts this sale in a very suspect light now. As for young buyers, I do see young people at shows buying and selling this stuff. I think people aren’t seeing young millennials and post-mil properly in terms of them being collectors. I think the hoarding/acquisition/collecting gene is strong in them.
  4. Haha it’s definitely something I like, it’s a LOT cheaper than art. Not sure it’s really sustainable though the way it’s been going as of late.
  5. I think this effort to eliminate the idea of there being a “bad guy” and turning them into just a misunderstood “forced to resort to badness” has been one of the worst trends in modern film making. It makes films less compelling and only allows for only a narrow band of villain left (like evil businessman). No more evil means also on some level no more good. Also on a basic level, it’s hard to sell a movie called “mistress of evil” when no ones allowed to view her as evil.
  6. Didn’t see the Jeter auction but by description I assume your talking about The mirror gold 96 psa 10. That card is grail for a lot of collectors, more than a psa 10 1993 SP foil. It’s just so rare and condition sensitive due to the foily nature of it. Jeter has enough guys driving him that I can see it. Hell if a black lotus beta BGS 9.5 can hit 100k where there are maybe a dozen or more in that grade, I can see the only Jeter doing that. Also the rule in baseball isn’t just first year cards now (which I agree is sorta BS but with the advent of Bowman scooping these guys up years before their pro debuts I sorta get it) count as RC’s. In fact only cards released your rookie year (qualified) count for that technical distinction. Agreed it’s a little goofy but the market has spoken on that. Sorry if off topic but I like modern cards a fair amount so I’m a fan of talking em.
  7. Already told the story, but this was one of my top three covers I loved to look at as a kid. Every day I look at it I smile and sometimes stare at it looking at the details.
  8. Unfortunately despite our best efforts, we aren’t quite having success with selling Perlin2.0 yet, but with the new approved price ceiling in place...fingers crossed...the market will return to allowable prices!
  9. Really who was begging for this movie? I’ve seen it been called everything from a compete uninspired rehash to “woke terminator”. I just don’t get who the market for this movie was? Total All costs budget 300 million? This film gonna lose like 100 million when all said and done?
  10. These are dark times indeed brother, the ministry of approved thought hounds us at every corner...we hide our numbers among them and cheer on their five figure starlin and 4 figure Perez pages...biding our time until we can overthrow the orthodoxy and once again walk in the light!
  11. No, the Cabal has decided that since he is don perlin 2.0 that his covers are not allowed to go over 20k. Every dime spent over that amount will result in a punitive corrective action.
  12. The Frankenstein is probably my single favorite piece of "comic art" ever done...having said that....does anyone really see a million+ for it?
  13. Read more of the leaks and it seems there is some photo proof to back some of it up. It seems pretty bad, nearly completely ripping off ROTJ but without the charm or good will leading into it. I think I now get why so many folks were mad at the GOT ending lol.
  14. I'm just hoping for something that isn't poorly written, directed, and acted. On every possible level, TLJ failed on all three fronts. My hope/expectation is that something resembling an actually coherent borderline logical/reasonable film comes out of this and we can salvage a little dignity for the old gal before put her in the box and call it quits on SW.
  15. Anyway, not that this isn’t fun but how about we stop monopolizing this conversation?
  16. Or maybe yours is too open? Nah we’re probably both right...for us anyway.
  17. No need to wonder, you’re just wrong I think as you do this for enough decades, at least it’s true for me, you start to realize it’s all just “stuff”...and what you're really chasing is that moment of perfection that drew you into a book or character. The perfect page, the perfect panel, the perfect memory from youth that this work of art connects to. The rest is just nice distractions or maybe a means to acquire that piece of personal perfection. The sad part is that I know where three of my “frames” are exactly right now, and there is no chance on at least two of them coming loose in the foreseeable future. And only a new BMW’s equivalent of cash would dislodge the third (which also blows my mind, the shocking cost of all of this now but that’s a conversation for another day).
  18. After all this time I’ve never once gotten a commission. I’ve paid an artist to ink a pencil piece I acquired, that’s about it. I just don’t like the unknown of paying for someone to be brilliant on command...in my experience it just doesn’t work that way. I’d rather let them be brilliant on their own and then afterwards try and scoop it up when this awesome piece hits the market. Bare in mind however, in terms of keepers, I very rarely make acquisitions in part due to this obnoxious level of picky-ness....so I’m probably not a model anyone sane or smart should follow.
  19. I think I’m 0-5% satisfied. I’ve been buying comic art since about 1987 and it just never “feels done”. I have maybe a half dozen pieces in my permanent collection after all this time. It just has to be one of these few specific pieces or at least exact types of pieces for me to view it as anything but a temporary diversion. Of the thousands of comic art pieces I’ve had, only a handful ever made the cut. Because of the rather stupid prices this stuff now goes for I find I have to buy and sell to afford new pieces without feeling guilty when I do land a new “frame” piece (the last being a Daredevil cover that was actually top 3 for me all time, only one I’ve ever had from the top of the list). Because of that it feels like a never ending constant effort, always grinding and working my way to that once every few year perfect moment landing of the next “Framer”.
