  1. It's all about exposure time with that. As discussed before, if it's in a dark room that blocks most light even in the middle of the day (or a windowless room) and you are only in that room a few hours per month, it's no more light exposure in a year than wall books would get at a convention over a weekend. Cause the big difference is that bluish green art on the diner wall is exposed to direct sunlight & overhead florescent or incandescent light for multitudes of hours per day more than my books on the wall get exposed to every month.
  2. Picked up some nice looking McSpidey's from Patrick & the transaction was nothing but pleasant. Super fast invoicing, shipping & delivery. Would absolutely do business again.
  3. You are probably right about that. It does ring a bell. I was speaking more broadly about the possibility of allowing feedback on buyers and sellers. Whenever that's raised, there is a resounding chorus of "Nos!" Give me all the negatives!
  4. It's the only option we've got here. We can just not do anything with problem buyers/sellers/facilitator/whatever, or do what we can within our limits. We've opted to do what we can within the limits of the board. Just because it's not a perfect solution doesn't mean it's not worth doing.
  5. It's Hellfire (the Inhuman) from the season finale. Kinda bummed it's not Inferno. And would LOVE Ghost Rider.
  6. This is just petulant whining. I missed the Spidey book too. But I got the JSC variant. Sure, I'm bummed that I missed the Spidey, but I'll live. And I sure won't start ranting about how both speculators & fans bought up the whole print run in like 10 minutes or whatever it was & blaming the company for it. Do I think they should have limited how many people could buy? Eh. Maybe. I don't know. And I don't know if it would have made a difference. Just bite the bullet & pay secondary market prices. We all have to sometimes. Live with it.
  7. Well, Ellis generally doesn't sign on to do anything more than a 5-6 issue launch run anymore for Marvel. Hasn't for years. Stretching back to basically Invincible Iron Man w/ Granov like a decade ago. And even when he followed up Whedon on Astonishing X-Men, that didn't last long either. Inhuman was pretty solid. If Soule was still writing both Uncanny & All New, it would probably be better. But All New is like the Inhumans that nobody cares about stuck into 1 book, and Uncanny is the one that would seem to be the A-list Inhuman book, except that the whole "mix of FF/X-Men/Inhuman Royal Family" thing that appeared to be the premise has already been dropped except for Johnny Storm. Beast appears to already be dropped from the cast. And some guy with flags or something hanging off him has had more scenes than Beast. That tells me something.
  8. The Karnak solo book is the only one I'm really enjoying (when it comes out) but that's got a lot to do with me being a Warren Ellis fan more than a Karnak fan. Uncanny Inhumans is a distant second & All-New has already been All-Dropped from my pull list. I really REALLY gave the Inhumans a chance but it's been really really mediocre at best. Marvel really just needs to give up on trying to replace the Mutants with Inhumans. I know they won't because the corporate overlords will keep pushing until it happens or until comic movies cease making money. But they really ought to give it up.
  9. Someone has a stick wedged far too deeply within an orifice if they can't appreciate or even chuckle when they're the target of a joke.
  10. According to JSC's twitter, the B&W is totally sold out. So I'm guessing that means he won't be restocking. Only holding back a few copies for replacement in the event of damage but unlikely to put them back up for sale in the foreseeable future.
  11. 62324556798 That's metric though, so you will need to convert it. I feel compelled to make a "metric system is a commie plot!" joke here.
  12. Ordered a set of the color/b&w unsigned on the Iron MJ variant. Also grabbed one of the Betty & Veronica color variants, because it was just a cool freaking cover. Being on the mailing list certainly was nice for the extra bonus discount. Pretty much covered shipping costs.
  13. If there's rust, then sand & paint. If it's just dirty? Soap & water. Maybe a cleaner of some sort. It won't really matter. If you paint though & plan to paint the rack portion itself, you might want to go with one of those rubberized spray options like Plasti-Dip or something. I could see that holding up better over time since the wire rack bends a little (and most paints... you know... don't?) & the original finish was likely a more latex-based paint than most sprays you'd find these days. But I'd do the base with a more conventional spray option. And probably a matte finish paint too.
  14. Some wonky stuff there between these 2-3 auctions. A couple garage graded books. But it looks like the 999 one got ended (not sold), and if I'm not jumping to conclusions, he turned around, realized he listed it too low, added 50% onto the price & relisted. Still sold relatively fast. Because it looks like the same books in both auctions. At least the same photos showing the same serial #. As for the Siege? That one just looks like a fraud waiting to happen. Cut off the label so nobody can without-a-doubt say "that's my book. He stole my pictures. I have that serial # book in my collection right here" like we've seen happen before. Either that or it's an unverified/unwitnessed sig. But I'm actually leaning more towards "if I cut off the label number in this picture I stole, I got a better chance of my auction not getting taken down"
  15. There's so much jackwagon-ery in this thread at the moment, that at least it gives me a chance to distract myself from my pre-SCF Game 5 excitement for a few minutes. That made my morning.
  16. is he sketching at SDCC? Inquiring minds want to know *cough*and throw money until he draws a sketch cover for me*cough*
  17. Rogue wasn't in it because she would either not have been born yet or just been born. MOvie takes place in 1983, and she was 17 in the 2000 movie. She was actually there in the background after the school evacuation. Or at the very least, someone that looked suspiciously like 80's short-ish hair Rogue.
  18. Stumbled onto the 2nd cover of Stormwatch 5 today. The Apollo & Midnighter cover. For some reason, I didn't have that one yet. $2. Not bad. Also grabbed another of the StormWatch 1 Voyager Pack for $1.50
  19. I try to look at it as this: Pretend that Alex is the older brother. Then assume that time moves 3-5x faster while people age at the same rate or people in the X-Men universe age at 1/3-1/5 the rate. Either way. Like 70-100-day long years or whatever. Then it mostly is understandable. Otherwise Alex is 45 with a 16-year-old brother & Magneto is 70 and being played by Fassenbender.
  20. It was alright. Not great. Not awful. Maybe a little below First Class? Definitely not as good as DoFP but still eminently watchable. There was a lot of Handwavium involved & a lot of stuff that they just kinda expect you to just go with that didn't bother me, but did bother my friend that watched it with me. A lot of the "wait, how did Apocalypse get that tech in ancient egypt?", I had to explain "oh, they kinda just stuck it in there but had to hand-wave it away by hoping you don't ask too many questions about it because they're not allowed to answer that question" and a few other things, but overall? It wasn't bad. This one relied a little more on "just ask your nerd friend to explain those other things to you" than other X-Movies is about the only real complaint I had on a story level. Still didn't really like the look they went with for Apocalypse and that the team was rocking the black biker body-armor look again. I still think the "flight suits" from First Class were the best. But it's Singer and he's allergic to colorful costumes of any sort. So I didn't really expect much else. What I did like tho was young Jean. I dug a lot of the other characters but really liked the new Jean. Not a big fan of the kid they cast as Scott because he looked like he was about to cry the whole time, but he was still good. Kinda hate-loved the Flock of Seagulls meets Michael Jackson Thriller Nightcrawler look though. And understood that they were going a little blue-people-heavy so they didn't do Archangel blue too. It was fun though. And surprisingly emotional at the end. It's one I'll re-watch if it's on TV.
  21. I grabbed most of these a few years back when I was making a big dent in my "complete Wildstorm Universe from Start to Finish" project. There was a whole set of polybagged versions. they were referred to as Voyager Packs during the Wildstorm: New Horizons line-wide thing. They include: Divine Right #1 DV8 #14 Gen13 (1995) #25 Phantom Guard #1 StormWatch (1997) #1 Wetworks (1994) #32 WildC.A.T.s: Covert Action Teams #40 Wildcore #1
  22. Kinda bummed I missed the original prices for the X-Men 92 variant set, so I broke down & bought one on ebay for a (relatively?) reasonable price last night. Still more than I would have liked to blow, but not awful.
  23. Bought a hand full of late-silver X-books off Ed & the transaction couldn't have been better. Great prices, excellent grading, super-secure packaging & a great dude. Would highly recommend!
  24. you'd think people were talking about Captain America the gay Nazi. Hail Hydra! Hail Hydro-Man! Wait, that's not what's going on? That sucks. I miss hydro-man vs sandman vs spidey issues.
