  1. I too plan on getting a couple early numbers graded and into the registry,.. someday... just for fun !! ... now if only squeggs would sell me his #1 CGC 1.0
  2. I think "War Action" #14 is right up there with all his best !!!!!!
  3. A brand new modern art museum opened in East Lansing a few years ago ,.. the building architecture itself is the only thing that is not completely unremarkable. I could write a novel dispelling this museums so called "modern art" but a few examples. : a whole medium sized room was filled with typewritten pages,.... I asked the guy working there what it was? come to find out , some nobody had another person record every single word that the nobody said for an entire week, and printed it out on 8X11 pages that now fill the entire room of an art museum. this was not art,... it was pure garbage, and 100% conceited garbage at that. another example,... in a large room was a very nondescript, long, pinkish plastic snake-like thing with white things on the top of it, it took the entire length of the room.. I asked the guy what it was and come to find out it was about 5000 used dentures connected and half-melted, I felt ashamed to be in the same room as this piece of "spoon" and left,.. these are just normal everyday example of the so-called modern art in this museum. will give more examples later.....
  4. Bernie the Brain first appearance !!! there might be a movie in the works !!!
  5. I really Like pink colored war comics too like issue SSWS #69.... those floating tanks were unfortunately pure death traps.
  6. The one issue I bought was pretty bad, can't remember what number it was,... maybe 18 months ago..... it had a tiger in it, and exactly one panel of zombies. it was pure DREK except the only good thing was that Jesus was also in that issue.....
  7. Gator some boardie just told me the golden age ended in 1945 and that OAAW #1 is a silver age comic I go by the ebay listings so I certainly wouldn't look for 1952 comics in the silver age section heck I would never find them there what are your golden age, year criteria?
  8. My second favorite cover from the 1-80 run
  9. Hi Andy, thank you for teaching me the photo-bucket! I enjoy reading military history as a hobby except I have never read much about frogmen, I believe the Italians may have sunk a couple of British ships in the Mediterranean, maybe even a heavy cruiser, I may have to read about their exploits someday,... right now I am in the middle of a great book on Midway called "Shattered Sword". If this is not an actual frogman cover (The cover says: Diary of a frogman) it is as close as it get in the OAAW pre Sgt Rock 1-80 run
  10. Thank you again for this beauty Andy! Yes , beautiful color schemes on this all around great comic cover and also a rarely depicted "Korean War" cover !! DC big 5 war comics almost never depicted the Korean War.... this might just be the only one !!, Now Atlas War on the other hand....the majority was Korean War
  11. It is documented that on the Russian front, when a situation arose like that pictured in GI Combat #76, and the tank commander knew of the foxhole he would quickly ride on top of the foxhole, apply the brake to one of the tracks and do 360 degree spin circles, giving the soldier no chance to apply his bomb and grinding the hole and soldier into oblivion
  12. Yes GI Combat rules !!!! even though I collect OAAW This is my favorite war cover of them all.......... brilliant, horrifying, realistic, amazing, thought provoking ,...too many more adjectives to list.........
  13. Yes GI Combat has the incredible run of wash tone covers from in the 70's and all others are awesome too , The pre DC covers also have a slew of cool covers especially the first three issues GI COMBAT #1 has possible THEE most shockingly violent cover of all war comics as it appears a US solder has been shot through the head with his brains blown out - gruesome
  14. Vey nice! I was the underbidder on the Heritage #1 in 8.0 You know, I got confused over which day that one was going to come up. I thought it went low. It would definitely have sold for more if I had been on the ball. Edited to add: I think it was the same copy that sold on HA and then was available for offers on that site. If so, it sold for less than I offered through the site. Squeggs now that you have this CGC copy will you sell me your under copy ??
  15. I'll teach you on Monday. It's easy. (thumbs u ...and I think that's a diver and not a frogman. Thanks ! I always did consider frogmen/ combat divers to be one of the same. the cover does mention a frogman story , it is odd that on the cover of OAAW #27 he is in such shallow water. I'm sure the inside story explains it and i can almost guarantee he survives the encounter and shoots the enemy with his own gun !
  16. OAAW #27 A frogman in very shallow water has just been stepped on by a marching enemy soldier- yellow cover, a pretty unique cover especially for OAAW. someday i will learn how to post photo's
  17. Sorry about your Grandma...I hope she taught you some of her wisdom ..... I hope she had a nice life
  18. there is only one frogman cover from the OAAW 1-80 run can, anyone guess it or picture it's cover without looking? [/
  19. I was fortunate to pick up a great example of OAAW #1 CGC 6.5 and while I can't yet figure out how to put pictures on the boards, my registry set has been completed. [/
  20. As a young collector going to my LCS in the 70's, silver age Flash and Sgt Rock were the only DC comics I really enjoyed reading and collecting.
  21. wow where is peoples patience ?? nine days is nothing...I wish nine days was a long time
