  1. I took a friend of mine to a comic convention in Chicago.  I think it was still called Wizard World at that time.  While my friend wasn't really into comics, he did love himself some Transformers.  And I told him he might find something.

Well, we get there and he finds this uber cool Optimus Prime statue.  No price tag.  So I told him to ask the dealer about it.  He did and this dealer couldn't have been more rude to him.  Totally condescending and patronizing.  My friend got pretty upset and yelled at him, "If you don't want to sell it then why did you even put it out?" and walked away.  My friend then came back to me and said, "NEVER bring me to one of these things again."

Recently started consigning some slabs on MCS (via auctions) and am really happy with how easy it all went. On that note, I thought I saw somewhere that winners of auctions have 15 days to pay? Can someone confirm? What happens when they don't pay after that? Does a book/slab go back into another auction?

    @mycomicshop

Yes, auction winners have at least three weeks to pay (which I personally find super annoying).  This is allowed because if someone wants to bid and win auctions in the following week, they can pay for two or three weeks worth of auctions and get combined shipping.  However, if you wind up with a deadbeat bidder who hasn't paid after three weeks, contact Este or Andrea and they'll allow you to relist the book for auction and ban the deadbeat bidder.

I will note that FedEx delivered the box to the house next door. My family and I barely know these folks as they very recently purchased the home. The FedEx driver apparently signed for the box, leaving it on the front porch of the house, because I was informed upon collecting the box, the neighbors alerted me when I arrived home, that no one by the name that was signed resides there. FedEx in my area, except for one driver, is dreadful in the extreme. Clearly the driver that delivered the box did not care in the slightest about the box/delivery, etc.

I can certainly empathize.  I remember receiving an e-mail that my CGC package had been delivered.  Thing is, if the Fed Ex person was here, my dogs would have started barking and I would have a package by the front door.  Neither of those things happened.  So I called the local delivery unit and asked what gives?  About an hour later I had my package.  The Fed Ex driver originally delivered it to an Auto Body shop just down the street.  Thankfully it was still unopened.

  4. @CGC Mike

    Hi Mike,..

Is there something wrong with the phone system?  I've been attempting to call customer service this morning.  After I push the button to speak to a CSA, I'm put on hold and get the CGC anthem until an agent is available.  But after about 10 seconds, it stops.  Then there's silence for about another 5 seconds and then you hear a message that says, "An application error has occurred.  Goodbye" and then I'm disconnected.

    What is going on?

    Thank you!

Hopefully they can get things figured out this year, but who knows if they ever will.

Whatever the status, things are moving at a glacial pace (at least from my perspective).  That's why I'm trying to make every effort to get what I can sent in prior to SDCC 2023.  Intakes at cons pretty much mess up the time it takes to process submissions.  But SDCC 2023, you probably won't see your submissions until leaves starting falling from the trees.

Geez... I've had 1 book ME SFG since 6/1.  Absolutely no movement.

Seen numerous MEs that arrived weeks later being done already, ugh.

I can empathize.  I've had 1 book ME SFG since 5/12 with no movement.  Just a simple label correction.  I sent a note to submissions@cgccomics.com last week and as of this writing, no response.

Based on posted comments, like yours, and the movement of my submissions, CGC's processing of submissions appears to have slowed down substantially in my experience from last month. Granted, some posters did note in months past that their submissions in, for example, the late lamented Economy tier, at least by me, in many instances took over a year to head back home. Of course, years ago, if I correctly recall, my Modern tier submissions took on average two months to complete. Factors such as CGC comic con attendance, of course, add time to the processing of many, but likely not all (e.g., folks who monthly submit in large volume and/or income may depend on sales of CGC graded comic books) submissions.

    Well said, well spoken :)

    2023-07-07    G/QC.  Looks like they'll ship Monday.

Oh, so someone is working there.  Nothing is moving on my end and I just figured CGC employees extended their vacations beyond the 4th and there's only a skeleton crew still working the remainder of the week.

I fear it will be a bloodbath once SDCC comes around and submitting books could be a nightmare on turnaround times.

I think that ship has already sailed.  I've had submissions delivered to CGC within the last two weeks and none of them have been opened by Receiving.  Receiving must have off on 'business day' Fridays.
