Not sure if I got my facts straight- but I think the animation was done in Toronto back in the day - so if anyone there knows the company -maybe there is a way to get that art.
Also - if you haven't seen the Family Guy take on this Here it is.

Then I don’t think either you know or we agree on definition.
It was mentioned earlier in the other thread why it’s different too. The “attempted flip” is buying it in auction and instantly putting out for more artificially. I bought an asset being undervalued and put it back into a 1 dollar opening bid no reserve market. I attempted nothing, I forced no one to pay an outlandish upgraded price. Wouldn't qualify imo for that thread.
So since I am the one who brought up the doubling from clink - wanted to clarify - I mentioned it not as a criticism. Only as a fact about price that I found interesting (as a matter of following trends). It's a page I personally liked and followed - and I thought it was interesting to see how the price on it went up over a short time.

$5 tops. it would be cool to get the paper and then commission an artist draw something around that.

The recent thread regarding heritage auctions brought up the idea of A level vs B level art and how A level just soared past B level art.
It would be great for any here that have knowledge or opinions on the subject to share some examples of what they consider B or C level art.
That could be a combination of artist and title.
As a starting point -(that is one example only) feel free to argue against this - would folks agree that regardless of artist - all amazing Spider-Man art would be A art, while say marvel team-up is only B or C art depending on the artist?
Are there other titles that come to mind? Perhaps A vs B could also be within the same series depending on the stories in a long running title? But in general are there title that are without a doubt B list. I am thing as an example here - guardian of the galaxy - the movie was a hit - but the comic was never a huge hit. And while there was a bit more interest in the art after the movies - it's still all B run material?
Again - my hope in starting this thread is to identify what (in your opinions) is B list art. I think many of us instinctively know what is A art -but with rising prices it's become harder to define what is B art.

I have no idea of value but not enjoying cyclops on this one. Its enough to keep me looking at other art. Not as bad as the submariner on the iron man subby #1 cover - but still a detracting factor for me. Still if anyone has nostalgia - that can be overcome.

Yes, I know this is in the shallow end of the pool. However, whomever bought the McGuinness 5 Ronin Deadpool cover got it at a nice price. The style McGuinness used on that cover reflected how he used to draw the character when he first started working in comics in the 1990's.
Wow. $630 - great deal for sure. Won't be surprised if it was bought by a dealer or flipper and we see it for 2-3x on some site soon

Bah, underbidder on the piece I was really after. There were a few pauses when I was winning where I thought I might take it.
Funnily enough, my limit is actually HA's PayPal/credit card limit. I have a ton in PayPal and being in canada I just leave it in as taking it out means exchange rate costs (twice).
If the limit was higher I would have bid more and maybe win!
Malvin
Ha has a credit card limit? What is the limit? As far as I know if you pay the 3% fee - they will accept a lot. Feel free to educate.

I suspect that price has more to do with it being the test market cover with the different logo than being a general commentary on Maguire JL artwork.
I was underbidder - I love that cover - test logo and all - but there are too many other fine things that can be bought for that amount of coin. Congrats to the winner.

Nice frame.
I was actually wondering how much the cost of the frame was built into the 325,000 price.

I hope it kills bidding, but unfortunately I know that won't be the case.
I have been paying tax on HA for a while - and it goes into the calculation I make to see how high I can bid.

Looking for opinions from those in the know.
Priced at 325k on comiclink exchange. Is it a good value, too much? Too low? What makes one frazetta more desirable than another? Artistically - it's nice.Clink listing here

If you were a kid in the 1980s (or older) you may remember a marvel magazine called Marvel Age. It looked a lot like a comic from the outside but cost a fraction of the price and was a marketing propaganda item for Marvel. This was before the internet however - so getting news on your favorite comic was exciting and fun.
Just added the cover to #6 by Rick Leonardi featuring Cloak and Dagger.
Getting a Leonardi C&D page was a bucket list item for me for several years now. Couldn't be happier to scratch that itch with this fun example.
Held off posting as I was waiting to buy a scanner. After the recent discovery of the Cam scanner app here on the boards - it was time to post. Not bad for a phone app.

Interesting that it was in the display case at sdcc marked with an estimated auction price of 29k. So clearly now we know where that # came from. I was wondering how it could have such a high estimate given the bidding was around $200.
Also interesting how 2 different boardies saw the price. One with BP and one without. It goes to show that the BP as a separate line item is not always captured/easily recognized by bidders - even though most folks on here say the BP is not a factor since they always factor it in.

frenz spidey poster art was quoted to me at 75k by Bechara...i'd have seriously considered buying it if it were 50.
He quoted at 50 at sdcc - but previous (2017) sdcc he asked 48.
Not positive - but also seemed to have a bit of waviness (water damage? ) at top.
While I love it - Frenz is alive and doing decent commissions for reasonable rates - so if it doesn't have to be published- that might he a more affordable way to go than a paying bechera future prices today.

Been trying out camscanner app. I use android - it creates pdfs. If there is a setting to have the images come out as jpegs - would love to know. Updated a bunch of CAF art already.
With respect to the comment that lighting/shadows is tricky - I usedthe setting to have the flash/torch on. I put the art vertical on my desk, leaning to the wall and shot the pictures. A real pleasure to see the app adjust the image so it flattens out.

Spend $5-7k on a trip to San Diego? Or spend $5-$7K on art?
Not sure where you live - but it cost me around $1000 to attend this year.

The OFFICIAL "This week in your ORIGINAL ART collection?"
in Original Comic Art
Posted · Edited by Panelfan1
Now a days - political correctness - is at an all time high - so not sure how this piece would play if it were produced today, rather than in 1987. Personally, I have been after comic art featuring characters from old time cartoons (like Space Ghost, Spiderman and his amazing friends, super friends, etc..) for a while now. Long before I ever held a comic in my hands, I fell in love with cartoons. So comics based on cartoons were a natural attraction for me. Here is a racy yet simultaneously innocent pin up of Jezebel Jade and the Jonny Quest gang from back in the day.
see it HERE.
