If you are a premium CAF member, you can upload larger images. You can see the result on my Bastian work:

    Cursed Pirate Girl herself

    Pirate Ship

    JB’s First CPG Commission

You should a black bar under the image saying to click on the image to enlarge it.

Of course, you have to be a Premium member; I find that worthwhile.

I agree with this. Plus as a premium member you are helping support something that should give you a lot of pleasure. To corrupt a well known quote " don't ask what a free website can do for you . Ask what you can do for your favorite website."

Yup. And you can’t buy everything. Hesitation is my new best friend, keeping me focused on my collecting goals. I haven’t bought anything published since last November. A meaningful cover I want, a meaningful cover I shall have. (Although I saw some nice Bronze Age pages at L.A.)

Hesitation.. or in the case of online bidding - poor internet connectivity can also help keep spending down.

  3. Instead of using a scanner - Yesterday a friend showed me an app for your phone called Scanbot.  It allows you to scan nice images with a single click of your camera. It also helps for minor editing. Especially handy for oversize art.  Haven't had a chance to try it myself yet - wondering if anyone here has? Or if anyone is using another app that they like to recommend.

It's not a twist--it's confirmation.  Albert indicated he recovered most of them--so some have ended up in HA and some in his sale inventory.  No mystery.

having spoken to Albert - the explanation is - since heritage was largely to thank for helping him get the art back - he let some of the pieces sell on HA as a thank you to them ( instead of saying - thanks for the art - see you later).

I made the mistake of buying something a week beforehand, so I rolled in without a bankroll.  Next year I'll be ready. Was a lot of good stuff there.

consider yourself lucky. your story makes me think of that saying 'a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the Bush.

you can't predict what you can get and when. deals fall apart all the time etc.. so if you passed up on the first opportunity - you may still not have gotten anything at the event.  as long as the first item you got was something you love!

I agree.  Phone bidding works fine.  You give them all your lots ahead of time and the day before they call you to make sure your number is working.  If the lots are separated by too many in between, after the first batch is done they'll hang up and they will then call you back for the next batch of lots.

I try to work out with my Rep as soon as he calls what my vocabulary/word choice will be and what I am planning ahead of time on each lot right before we get to it (eg, "jump in as soon as lot opens" vs "don't jump in as soon as lot opens and let's see where it goes").  Sometimes I use "bid," sometimes I use "yes" and I tell the Rep what words I'll use when I'm thinking about my options or when I'm done/out.

Sometimes the Rep has helped by reminding me that a cut bid was available and I've used it (but it has never won me the piece).

But as stated above, it still moves fast and you need to know your mind ahead of time. If it's just down to you and another bidder, then being on the phone can allow you a few extra seconds as the auctioneer will check with your Rep if you want to bid again and won't close the lot.

That being said, I have recently switched back to HA Live internet bidding and that has also worked fine (I won my last 3 pieces that way, all of which had aggressive live bidding) (Note, I was on a desktop not on my iPad or iPhone).

Thanks for the detailed response.  expecting to have poor internet service so the phone option is great to know about.

just to be clear - they will say the price and you then say your agreed upon word (like yes or bid) ?

    1. it's also possible that the covers may have a stigma to them? as art that misrepresented several months hyped story that fizzled. when you see the Janin cover now - what comes to mind is DC lyed to fans with the wedding hype they created.

The interior garcia Lopez splash and some others in the book that stand alone and have nothing to do with the wedding per se - should command long term interest - as examples of Catwoman with Bats art.

    HI, all;

I know most of the discussion surrounding HA auctions deals with their amazing quarterly auction material, and no doubt about it, they have been stellar over the past few years and I'm always surprised at all the good stuff coming to the market.  Lately, the good stuff hasn't been isolated to their quarterly auctions as more and more great material is appearing in their weekly auctions, too.

In addition to the strong results for more Aparo B&B, Adventure, Phantom Stranger etc pages, here are a few examples:

    • John Buscema Savage Sword of Conan = $7.2K
    • John Buscema Wolverine #10 panel page = $2.8K
    • Colan DD 90 page = $3.8K
    • Infantino Star Wars 27 panel page = $2.8K
    • Gil Kane Micronauts #44 cover = $18K !!!!

Also some good deals to be had such as the Bagley ASM page, Keown Hulk, Sienkiewicz Moon Knight page, Ditko Avengers Annual page and others.

Definitely worth keeping a closer watch! :)

that micronaughts deal makes the one on ebay by coolines seem like a decent price?

I have a very tight, large color comp for this movie by Peak. I'm asking only $6000

hi Mitch - I saw this previously on your site and though it seemed a bit different from the final poster - but actually thought the difference was adjusted in the printing stage. now I know it was a prelim.

I have had  copy of  the theatre poster of this on my wall since I was a teen. great movie and great image.  having said that - I am not in the market for film art.

finally -opening this up to anyone reading this - I am confident I saw this art in a photo hanging in someone's living room or basement - either here in a thread or on caf.  if anyone has the link - please post.
