  1. SwipeGate? Tablegate??? You think this is what BLASTAAR meant when he asked “Thoughts on Arthur Suydam?”
  2. Bird, for Cornette de Saint Cyr what would honor look like? Not destroying another work of art with poor packaging methods? Or declining to sell presumed stolen goods?
  3. You're fine buddy. Most have been in your shoes.I hope you make a bundle and get your truly desired page. As usual here on the boards, " if we're not hating, we're not trying."
  4. I met him a few times. He only had prints for sale which I don't collect. I fondly remember his work in Epic Magazine and the Marvel Zombies. Very distinct style of artistry.
  5. A great resource for those Jake Killby “original” drawings we see pop up on “reputable” auction sites.
  6. I went through ten issues from 1994 but could not locate this image. I know how frustrating that can be. Maybe Ron Lim remembers?
  7. I actually bought a piece I didn’t like to try and replace one I let get away. Early 2000’s I sold a four panel John Buscema/ Dan Adkins Silver Surfer Page for good money. Later on, missing the page, I found a Marvel Fanfare Page by Buscema with inks by Jack Abel. I did not like the inking but it was affordable. My thinking was that prices were going up on The Silver Surfer original series and I might not ever afford another page. So despite my misgivings I bought the Marvel Fanfare Page: I tried to love it. When I received it in the mail it looked worse in person then the photo online. The inking was dreadful. I kept it for two years then sold it for a small profit. Later on a miracle took place and I landed what many collectors have told me is their grail interior John Buscema Silver Surfer Page. This made me whole. Its not crazy to bite on a page you don’t necessarily love. I suspect you at some point will let it go if you get it. Unless it grows on you which is possible. I’ve never collected from a completist perspective. Because it fits into the way you like to collect I will urge you to go ahead and win that page. 🍇 🦍
  8. Art values have appreciated beyond what I ever dreamed possible. The best stuff in a safety deposit box. That’s a shame and defeats the purpose of why I got in to collecting. at home I rotate 3-4 sketches and keep a portfolio book of con sketches from 1979-today.

  10. Wow thank you. This is a high quality collection. Love the cover, slip case and all the delicious art inside. I still have my 1975 Frazetta that my dad got me when I was 7....
  11. 2019 at auction sold for $23.8 K 2020 CLink sold for $8,100 The curse of the mysterious “assistant(s)” may have contributed to the drop in price.
  12. You’re right Terry. I hope the new owner had some inkling on the various thoughts existing about these works. If they still bid they are probably happy. If they didn’t know.... I understand the desire to have something representative of the all time great Kirby covers. That being said, I have to put my money on 100% verifiable artist attributed art work. Is this a correction that waits in store for any of the other Kirby recreations of the time period circa Sotheby’s Auction. We will only know if they come to auction or are listed for sale. We know about Sotheby’s sale price, the T O S 39 has changed hands at least twice since its first auction. Where’s the AF 15 ? I am positive I saw it listed on a dealers sight 10 + years ago for maybe $80 K. Well, this is here for reference. If any other of the Kirby recreations of that time period sell I would appreciate it if it could be listed to this thread.
  13. What a majestic cover. Frenz and Sinnott.
  14. I hope you’re on CAF because these are the kind of descriptions I Long for to go with the art. Great passion and perspective. Cheers, 🍇 🦍
