It all depends if the millimetre that was visible in the listing

Oh... how many times I've bought up big lots of stuff due to a tiny corner of something or other popping out from the back...

I guess that's the sign of a true collector.  You're willing to go through the trash to find what you seek!  :foryou:

    fill in the whitespace

Do you know how to make the "dot-fade" that appears in the title?  For my photoshop program, first place a gradient on a new layer, then go over to your "color halftone" filter (I found mine under the "pixelate" filter set) and set the channels to some combination of 90/90/90/45 (90/45/90/90, etc).  There should also be a size adjustment for the size of the dots.  Here's a quick gradient fill of the background, and then a capture so you can see the layers:

You'll notice that I have two gradient layers...  It might be more interesting to angle the gradient as was done on your title...

"Enter the Bestower" text, so I simplified that

I like that new one better.  Nice.

  3. I absolutely love the half-tone dot fade in the title font!!

Have you ever tried just hand inking on a lightbox?  Taking a photo and hitting the "find edges" filter in photoshop seems to lessen the impact of the images for me.  There's something special about a human hand making marks on paper....

Too much background white/emptiness.  Maybe you can throw some "manga" speed lines back there radiating out from your center character.  And if the title is going to be color, maybe drop some hues behind your figure art.

  4. I attended a San Jose convention many years ago where the first 100 attendees were given a freebie comic.  I was near the front of the line when a sealed/stapled box of this issue was opened up for the first time since leaving the printer shop.  Unreal seeing all those NM uncirculated copies being handed out.  I still have my copy, but I want to add a graded copy to my collection at some point.

what do you guys suggest I do next?

Cool books!  I also collected the series as it came out and followed the triangle numbering across all the various titles.

If your goal is to acquire the best Death and Return of Superman set in CGC grades... forget it!!  Iconic1s has us all beat.  BUT, finding high grade (9.8) copies from this run can be done on the cheap for the most-part.  There are specific variants (second printings, third, fourth, newsstand copies, etc) that are harder to find than others and typically command a premium price.  Do the bag and boarding of your personal collection, but don't send these in for grading unless you have a sentimental attachment to those specific copies (or are VERY good at grading).

I would recommend checking out the registry sets that other collectors here compete in.  Here it is:
