Very nice!
When I was a child the grizzled proprietor of my local newsstand added a copy for free to books I was purchasing. He said "thanks for being a regular, take it on the side". He probably also knew 1.50 was way out of my league.

Share an experience, including photos, of a comic you thought was ok, but when you took a closer look there was a nasty defect.
Here's my example. On the weekend I went to a closing down sale of a store over here in Brisbane, Australia. The shop was packed with people. As a Jim Lee fan I was happy to find an Alpha Flight 51, Jim Lee's 1st art for Marvel, while digging through the bins. It looked solid and for $4 I didn't bother pulling it out of the bag & board to inspect it.
When I got it home I found this on the back cover.
It looks a combined mould food stain. A shock twistI feel your pain. We've all had it happen

I have 5 books that were CGC graded/slabbed in 2024
Just pulled them. 4/5 have the warping :(. The other is not a standard sized comic and currently appears ok.
Of the 4, the grade dates are:
Jan 31 2024 - 2
Mar 14 2024 - 1
June 12 2024 - 1@CGC Mike appears the 4 I have with warping the comics have not yet suffered spine damage. I am not the original submitter of any of them. I do hope they can sent back before the soon and inevitable damage occurs

I have books I'd like to send to cgc but thisnis a concern. If there is conformation that these inner wells have been taken out of production; then I'll send them here.
Is there a definite answer to this??
Based on past history, at very best expect it to be a long wait for any official response.
The good news is DC Digests due to the nature of their size are not affected

I’d like to know - is the CGC intending to continue damaging high value books with this defective encapsulation approach? Has it truly been fixed? I have multiple high value books recently submitted… should I have my fees refunded and books shipped back rather than having them potentially damaged through encapsulation (which is intended to protect them)? Is it worth sending my book in-hand back for re-encapsulation if this has not been corrected?
At this juncture CGC has not even acknowledged there is an issue. Its going to get much worse

182 missing stamp... likley will fetch just as much unslabbed. If 181 I'd say go for it.

Okay - in agreement then. My biggest issue here is what appears to be awareness of the risk (given time frames) and continuation of encapsulating books when it could be doing more harm than good. If big $ books are getting impacted, this is ripe for … well, let’s just say it will be highly problematic for CGC.
Not as long as they have no viable competition...

Those pages are awesome!!! I used to have quite a few but ended up selling them. Now they're a lot more expensive to try to get back.
They went from throw-in type pages to keepers due to increased Spider-Man Demand! The only "remotely affordable" 1970 Spider-Man pages still left.

Whatnot has declined by a lot since COVID ended. Sales are way down for the majority of sellers whether they are dealers you have heard of or the bedroom warriors selling their ASM 300 in raw VG condition that they think is rare.
whatnot and the uniformed comic bandwagon buyers on that platform are both on the down slope. Unlike the whatnot hype/spin makers state its likely a death spiral.
Droves of uninformed buyers have left a hobby they never should have been in, replacements for them are almost non existent
Depending on uninformed buyers to make a profit in comics is short term + unsustainable and may no longer even be cyclical.
The blazingbob or even better anthonysnyder [not for comic art] business models are ones that are viable to make a living or nice living in what is the new normal and how it will evolve...

I don't want to keep bringing this book up but holy cow is it dropping fast all the sudden. It really seemed to be holding at the $3K mark for the longest time......Heritage just sold for under $2.2k. Looking at GPA there are still a lot of recent sales in the upper 2s.....maybe Heritage is just not the place for sellers of this book right now (and yes....these books are for sale every week it seems on Heritage so I get that aspect too)
Noticing those here who vehemently and sometimes nastily insisted book was a sound investment at 5K are totally quiet.
Direct Sale in 9.8w will negatively and consistently breach 2000 mark possible as early as later this year.

I have a FF 4 in 3.5, as long as it doesn't drop under the price I paid for it 20 years ago then all good.
Another book is Avengers 1
During the boom a 6.5 sold for something crazy like $14k
I think it's dropped to around the $6.5k
As long as it doesn't drop to $800 then all good
That does not account for inflation. To break even a book needs to be liquid at 2x the price from 20 years ago. Even then to break even Compared to the S&P 500 a book needs to be liquid at least 5x or is it 6-7x the original cost.
At 6500 appears you are close to even overall from an investment standpoint.

@MAR1979 might have focused in on them for a while, I don't think grading will make too much difference in that they will take a while to sell, $10 a piece is usually the tipping point when I've seen them for sale and next time they're missing and I guess sold.
I'm not up on the market other than they sell, but idk to whom nor why but then again they have a niche
Agreed.
Here's how I see it in my total opinion:
They must score 9.8w in order to at least break even. Unless you reel in 2 competing registry collectors at auction don't expect to pull in a profit.
Even when Groo peaked in 2022, from what I said then and still do was a nothing burger announcement, the only books that really benefited were the "Keys".

Drinking a random unopened Coke that just appears in front of you no questions asked is the most unbelievable part of this whole commercial.
Folks teach your Daughters never ever to do that its extremely stupid as a great way to get roof-ied.. Not to mention thoroughly disgusting.
Ad is way too long for TV, must be Theatrical.100 of these commercials will not impede prices from their OVERALL continuing free-fall, which will last until end of decade.

I've cracked and re-submitted 3 original (circa 2000/2001) CGC slab/label books over the years here were my results.
Original Grade | Resub Grade
9.6w | 9.6w
9.6ow/w | 9.8w
9.6ow/w | 9.6w2 of the 3 received page quality bumps! 1 went up in numerical grade. The only 1 of the 3 I had pressed retained it's original grade and page quality.
I'm not alone in receiving page quality increases, to the point I feel it's a joke that people pay extra for White compared to Off White-White on pre 1981 comics when appears all CGC does is flip a coin to decide.
