  1. Based on the limited description text it was deceit. Claim say very little and hope for a rube or 2. If seller knew they were real the description would have been far more well descriptive
  2. Interesting. Guess some sources are wrong; http://perez.comicbookseries.info/checklist-20/marvel-comics/f-o-o-m/f-o-o-m-22-fall-1978 Excellent work by Budiansky!
  3. Its a subset of slabs that display the rings which means no excuse for getting back to customer like that. They simply need to inspect and reslab. CGC simply has abandoned quality control to pad the blackrocks execs bonus'. CGC may be the current market leader but much of their product looks cheap and unprofessional. Partly due to defenders and apologists they have no incentive to do anything other than raise prices Regarding physics, to put it mildly gravity is one of its very pillars. Does this mean when CGC drops a slab and sends it to us damaged and broken that we should be OK with that as it was due to gravity which too is physics? IMHO it is same as newton rings; reslab it so it looks nice and professional and then and only then send it to the paying customer.
  4. What I've never understood is the first SA solo Dr Fate and first SA solo Hour-man story is contained in this issue but unlike for Green Lantern it's never mentioned...
  5. They also now own auction houses. The fix is sooo in. Not to mention PSA doles out higher grades to their large partners and there are quota's for everyone else- this allows them to maintain census population %'s thus fooling the submitting rubes.
  6. On same page is also a "Quasar" and "Star-Hawk"
  7. The Pérez/Sinnott Back Cover to #22 deserves to be seen!
  8. This was a 1997 raw purchase from Harley. What attracted me to the book were the deep rich colors and fresh snow white pages. I had this graded as "NM-" in my personal spreadsheet so I'm not disagreeing with the grade but I own so many worse looking books in CGC 9.4 slabs and a bunch in 9.6 slabs that I figured a 9.4 was quite probable. I generally do not submit my Silver Age books as I prefer to send in the Coppers I purchased new as child since for me they have deepest memories attached. However due to my immense enjoyment of the Season 1 & 2 of Stargirl I decided to move this into my submit pile late last year. The black ink on the inside front cover is so strong (deep black) even with the dark front cover it shows through. The effect is far more pronounced in the slab than it was raw. IMHO a Classic Murphy Anderson cover!
  9. Hi, Tighter for many like myself is the reason we purchase RAW from you. MCS' perception in that regard is world class, but that perception can be lost very easily and is far more difficult to re-gain than lose!
  10. That would be huge. PSA needs a good kick in the posterior.
  11. From what i've seen over the past 20 years at least at cons Boracks primary interest is purchasing Comics or Art from one table then looking to sell them at another table (or seemingly anyone he talks to, like me many times) for a profit. He always seems like a decent guy but that has zero to do on his acumen as a professional business person. If what you said is true, then that is very scary and yeah they might be toast. I had wanted them to succeed very much but they lost the battle of perception years ago. BTW as long as he sticks strictly to Consignment end, it could be perfect role for him?
  12. It's still going to cost WATA solid coin to defend themselves, possibly heavily alter the future perception of their firm, and perhaps evidence into the arrangement with Haspel will be brought to light. One can only hope!
  13. Perfect for his flipper supreme mentality unlike his role at CBCS.
  14. Looks like krap so yeah I'm dissin' it . CGC costs at all-time highs and rising and they have NO interest in resolving a CHRONIC issue that does not seem to affect their competitors. While I did get stuck with a few I refuse to purchase any CGC slabs with Newton rings, something that has become exceedingly more difficult due to their proliferation.
  15. Every issue of Fantasy Masterpieces v2 had a direct sale counterpart.
  16. As i recall there are no/zero episode adaptions in the GK series. The first couple of artists only exposure to the TV show was in the form of Stills
  17. Agreed ! In fairness the double cover was 9.4 outside, 9.8 inner. I personally don't care if book has quadruple covers I'm not going to spend 9.8 money for something that slabbed presents as 9.4 A month or 2 back in Evaniers blog he mentioned rights being optioned etc are all BAU and he stated seldom comes to fruition. A harsh lesson for those who spent 1.8K (9.8) on a book that will may very well be under $550 by year end. My guess is in 1-2 years the book settles at 350-400 unless some huge miracle occurs and property gets animated then somehow becomes successful. Investments that depend on miracles are already lost investments
  18. This was originally a $5.00 raw purchase in the 90's. First magazine sized book I sent to CGC just after they expanded in to the mag size arena. IIRC at the time it was the highest graded but no more. There was a time back then when The Kirby issue #11 was one of the most sought after issues of the title. Times have changed. As for the original post: My opinion: I just don't see any of the issues hitting 10K except as an outlier. Even if #10 did in 9.8 not sure it would hold there? They really ain't comics and I feel for many simply lack the required cachet. Now if there were enough in High Grade to be manipulated into the next hot thing well then who knows
  19. Battlestar Galactica #1 - Late least year the regular/standard edition CGC 9.8W was around $100, the Whitman 3-Pack Distributed w/diamond price area + blank UPC was $150-$200. I see now the standard is going for $410-$430. They are all from same seller which gives me some cause for pause but the CGC certs numbers were different https://www.ebay.com/itm/265669147158 https://www.ebay.com/itm/265660949404 https://www.ebay.com/itm/265644747285 The book has the Census Pop sweet spot numbers Speculators and Flippers love. Enough high grade supply to easily manipulate, but not enough that the book is everywhere. Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 1. Battlestar Galactica 1 (3/79, Marvel Comics) Adaptation of the first episode of the television series, part 1 of 3 Universal 1,476 9.29 1 509 405 183 98 85 63 34 39 13 11 9 6 11 3 2 2 1 1 Wish I had held out for a copy with a perfect wrap of the classic Cockrum cover but I got negotiated a nice deal on this one in 2021 when book was cold, so no complaints. P.S. My avatar on this forum was taken from a Galactica #1 cover scan but in my case the image is a nod to Avengers 181.
  20. 60 days ago in March's Iron Man he was portrayed as hero.... At this point not sure why the character/property should have any fans as he's portrayed 180 degrees differently at the drop of a hat.
  21. As child I got a copy of #9 from the discount bins of my LCS. The corner box was the first image of Adam Warlock I ever saw and I was like why does that dude look so mad...
