  1. My prior post acknowledged that both actually sold at a small fraction of guide, I just couldn't remember what guide was. Anyone, nobody cared about Eternals until recently. They barely cared about sme 15.
  2. I am responding to something here. I am not paying attention to where we are. Just looked in my 2013 guide...eternals $30, SME 15..$285. no comparison.
  3. get 7 different ebay names and use each 50 item free store for them for each type of item you are selling. someone here does that, what's his name?? (I know his name)
  4. Awean, do you think more back issue comics are sold via Amazon than ebay? You can guesstimate sold listings on ebay, not sure about Amazon. So you use stock images and just try to be the lowest priced copy?
  5. Hit or miss. You occasionally find a seller who is not delusional. It's a lot of work though. If I see someone with sane prices I usually give them a shout out for being rational even when I'm not interested in the books. Maybe a subtle message to the other sellers who think they can price at 2-3x ebay and nobody will notice.
  6. If spreading your money around on less expensive books and not just a key makes you happy, do that. Those cheap books sometimes become keys or semis too. I personally get a kick going to a show and coming back with the best $1-$5 box books I could scrounge. Treasure hunt. Once upon a time I looked for more "big" books ($25-$150.. Real money in the 90s!) And some cheapies. It's all good.
  7. I actually find this surprising as a cgc case is hardly permanent. Otoh, Never call a book a 9.8? Even if I think it looks perfect I never say more than 9.6-9.8. I know it doesn't protect much, but some people read things very literally. If it comes back a 9.6 they shouldn't be mad.
  8. I am surprised nobody here assaulted you over your choice of the word "defining," but then again, the crotchety types here who think anything post 1966 or 1976 is doo doo are probably not reading the modern section.
  9. No, y'all need to continue with the buy buy buy. At least if I am selling.
  10. Mycs sales, if they report, may better show the market
  11. Fred left several years before they closed. What's his name moved to Florida a long time ago. It might be that I have so much work to do for my real job and stress over that it is sucking joy out of other stuff.
  12. Eternals 1 was a $1-2 book forever and was maybe $15-20 in guide? MSE was a $15-30 book (which was like $90 in guide) for a long time.
  13. It may also be lack of energy because I am doing a bone broth intermittent fast and only eat one meal a day and almost no carbs.
  14. You see why I miss my old shop??? Admittedly, in the last few years he got better about checking stuff on ebay before giving up on them in the cheap box.
  15. Yes. I got this also probably at the same time given where I found them. I did not even know I had it for years. My guess is it did not sell for whatever price when it was released and he just said f-it and tossed it in the box.
  16. No, I did not give birth.... But I'm feeling "mehhh" about comics. I enjoyed going over there a few times a week, BSing, going through the boxes. Midtown is a bit further away and doesn't have a sense of a community. Have dropped by a few places, just not the same. At least I have you guys. I
  17. If I am going to pay full rack retail for a new comic I inspect the heck out of it and try to get it in a bag and board as soon as possible afterward. I wonder if there is a beachbum type service for raw books? Like they only charge $1 or $2 extra for a new comic that they think is a 9.8.
  18. I don't think insurance would cover this sort of slow (sped up by heat) degradation. If something suddenly exploded and destroyed everything, maybe. I shut the radiator off in my comic room to avoid it getting too hot or potentially leaking/spitting hot water/steam (it is also behind a bunch of non-comic stuff). It is perfectly pleasant up there during the winter as the radiator in the room below creates enough heat to take the chill out (I also like it cold anyway). I also always have the curtains down to avoid sunlight.
  19. Skullkickers #1, the Hulk 1 inspired cover, has the same sort of "damage" printed into the cover.
  20. I need one all the time to keep all of that massiveness in one place. Or maybe that's just my innards popping out through a hernia?
  21. Were they XXXXXX large? I know I have trouble finding that size for my jock strap and even then it is tight.
  22. Printers creases, binder tear, etc. I think you need to describe outright because some folks aren't going to like a nm book with a big printers crease even if cgc would be cool with it. I am not sure what to do with the early 90s books afflicted with the waviness on the top. It is so common, but they weren't sold like that?
