  1. Maybe going over $50k involved a substantial additional premium or that was the max amount with the carrier.
  2. Not this kind of legal thread. Particularly one about cgc's lawyer!
  3. My wife's negotiation technique is a cross between the nastiest b==tch in queens and a hustler on 47th street. It is abusive and terrifying. She got it from her mother, who should have played someone's homicidal aunt on the sopranos.
  4. Since my wife buys like $10K worth of a month on amazon (or so it seems) would that help her seller rating, or are they unrelated? Some of those Amazon prices are funny. 2X the going rate on ebay. I guess folks who don't know what they're doing buy on Amazon. Maybe that is where facebook people get their prices. I need to check it out...
  5. I hope he didn't go to SUNY Stonybrook? They are good a not diagnosing appendicitis and waiting until you're almost dead before realizing what it is. (personal experience)
  6. The irony is that it is harder and harder to find this stuff at shows for $2-3, much less the good old $1 box, yet people seem to expect to be able to buy for $1 and flip for $5-10...
  7. I think Dan would do fine here doing that and his last $3 sale was not that long ago. This is stuff he puts up for $5 on ebay I would assume.
  8. You're doing great. I was just kidding about the stack. I'd be more afraid of knocking it over accidentally.
  9. I agree, when I list $5 auctions I am fine with selling those books for $5. I always have a hope for multiple wins or it directing traffic to my store.
  10. So fixed price listings on Amazon? Don't they charge $40 a month to sell there?
  11. Donut lists a bunch of $5 auctions every week or so with nearly $7 shipping and obviously does a lot of action. But he is not listing drek and a lot of the books have some upward mobility past the $5.
  12. I have not done as well on a lot of these as I had hoped. A fair amount of $2 books bought here and at shows I decided were not keepers that I thought would be good sales..not so much.. I thought of certain books as pretty ebayable at $4.99 starting bids, and not much action, even with 100 other auctions going. Maybe 5-10 sell? Mind you, I think a lot of them would sell for $5, eventually, if I stuck them in an ebay store, but I don't want to fill up store slots on $5 books.
  13. Are they at least coughing up on the $50K insurance?
  14. Zaid works on fun cases. Maybe when I am sufficiently vested with my pension I will retire from my job and pursue some fun cases.
  15. You're not supposed to show us that stack and have us all thinking spine roll/curl.
  16. I just feel like the 10-20 minutes of time each sale probably consumes (between the time to list it, pack it, and waddle to the post office truck parked in front of my office (in my case)) ought to factor in there somewhere.
  17. I don't think you can really make such broad generalizations about 2018 vs. 2019 when you may have had much better stuff to sell in 2018? If your bread and butter was selling $1-$5 books on ebay and shows, yeah, I think you can compare, but when you hit the jackpot on a few books like that, not so much.
  18. The problem with doing $5 auctions is when those books sell for $5 and you have to ship them.
  19. And how many people actually complete the deal and send money? But yeah, I see a lot of silly pricing on facebook. I didn't think sales at those silly prices were actually being completed.
  20. I am fine with not huge numbers of people here. I don't need the ebay buying population deciding that everything can be found in a 50 cent box like half the people here think.
  21. Eternals in any kind of shape was no longer a genuine $1 book by the time the movie news first popped. It had graduated to $2 boxes. I remember passing on mid-grade copies in $2 boxes like 5 or 6 years ago thinking I already had a bunch of these, didn't need more in so so shape. Genius. Along with the 10-15 copies of Marvel Special Edition 15 in 9.0-9.4 I got about $25-$30 each for. More genius.
