  1. WTF is up with Aquaman? It looks like he posing in an Abercrombie & Fitch commercial.
  2. I think if this really turns out to be Lex Jr, this would make a lot of sense. If Bruce Wayne is older, why not Lex Sr?
  3. A bargain bin find for me. I've got scans of the back and interior over at the "Spare a grade" forum.
  4. Vol 1 is a slight upgrade from my existing copy, but Vol 2 is new. Both are in the best shape I've seen so far for these books.
  5. I stopped at EP2. Thought the show had a good, but not great start. Don't hate the show, but I'm finding it hard to stay interested enough to keep watching. I guess it's because Jessica Jones is a new character for me and I just don't know any of the history. I had left comics back in the early '80s. That, and I've never been a big Luke Cage fan either. At least with DD, I was familiar with the Miller run so this kept me somewhat interested.
  6. Really great book. I remember my parents buying me a copy of that issue off the rack when I was in the first or second grade.
  7. Yes! They should change it to World's Finest. The title that it should have had to begin with. My #2 needs a boost in market value
  8. I care, but not enough to pay for HBO.
  9. He's not in this universe. Evil, but not convicted in the eyes of the public or the law.
  10. Like everyone else, I thought the look of Doomsday was terrible, but one of the shows on Youtube mentioned this "might" be OK. In the comic book, the boney protrusions that gave Doomsday his distinctive look grew as he got stronger and fought Supes. If this is the approach that Snyder is taking, I'm fine with this. Otherwise, I think he really up the design for this monstere character.
  11. I kinda hated it. I am already sick of Eisenberg as Lex and he was onscreen for like 30 seconds. It just felt joyless, overly dark, and somehow low budget (which I know makes little sense). I know DC is going for a different feel than Marvel (and they should), but I did not care for Man of Steel, and this seems like it is going the same direction. Both Batman and Superman came across as completely unlikable and gloomy (Batman is allowed to be, but not Superman). Then they throw an over the top campy Lex at you which seems 100% out of place with an otherwise very serious universe. +1 I really hope this movie doesn't suck.
  12. Ya know, I just noticed something in this nightmare sequence that's really cool and is something I've haven't seen yet in any Batman movie. Batman's wearing a cowl that actually allows him to move his head in a natural manner. Nolan's Batman addressed this issue by making the upper portion of the cowl into a helmet while keeping neck portion separate. Although it worked, it never really looked right to me. It gave Bale's Batman the "swelled head" look. About time.
  13. thats what i'm think it could be a nightmare. plus i do like seeing some of the elements of injustice comic. + 1 It has to be a dream of things that could come, if Clark lost control. The toy version of this Batman costume is called the "Knightmare Batman" which I think pretty much confirms this is a nightmare sequence with Bruce Wayne.

    Gotham

Agreed! I enjoy every episode. The show might be significantly better now, but in all fairness, Season 1 was very lukewarm at best and the victim of it's own hype. This was Batman territory. People expected it to awesome from the start and when it was "just OK", there's bound to be a lot of disappointment and negativity.

Glad they seem to be taking the original approach to Freeze's origin rather than the retcon'd New 52 version. Nora will actually be his wife and not some unrelated girl that's the victim of Freeze's stalker obsession. I thought this was a huge mistake with the New 52.
  16. Yeah, I've notice that's she actually much hotter now than she was during her Firefly days. I think she's one of these gals that actually age like wine (i,e Jane Seymour, Linda Carter, etc.).
  17. A recent pick up. Don't buy too many Copper Age books. Althought not an independent, this title was super hot when it first came out. Astounded I was able to pick up VF/NM issues #1-10 for .50 cents each this past weekend. Was there a warehouse find or something with this book back in the late '80s or '90s that I don't know about?
  18. Just before I left comics in the early '80s, this title was all rage. I thought #1 (and especially #2 which was supposedly scarce for some stupid reason) would be worth over $100 one day. Anyway, I just picked up a VF/NM run of #1-10. Price was .50 cents each.
  19. I only recently started collecting again in 2010 so I really don't have a lot of old books from either my childhood or my earlier collecting days back in the late '70s/early '80s. That said, my earliest childhood memories seem to be this book. Either my dad or uncle bought it for me as I started first grade in school. I remember bringing it into class one day and showing my teacher, who told me who the character was. Couldn't really read all of it, but I loved the pictures. Anyway, I re-acquired it again a few years ago. I also came across the original artwork for this cover last year at a LCS while on vacation in NH (or it might have been ME), but alas, the owner would not sell it to me.
  20. Then again, Whitmans were direct sales version anyway so I guess the term applies. Used to see a lot Whitmans at local retail stores like Woolworths and Kresge before they became Kmart. Never saw them in comic shops though.
  21. I don't think Treasury Editions ever made it to direct sales. Worked in comic shop for 2 years before leaving for the USMC in '85. We never got any treasury size books from either DC or Marvel.
  22. Some drek box finds this past week. Being out of touch for so long, I haven't heard of this relaunch attempt either. Not really giving any thought to it other than cheap reading, I was braced for luke warm writing and art like what I saw towards the tail end of the SSoC run. To my surprise, these were very well written stories with a very early SSoC feel to them. Artwork was a mixed bag, but that may be just me not liking one style over the other. Of course, the Rudy Nebres stuff was top notch as always. I guess the improvement in quality was still not enough to resurrect the genre or the character with Marvel.
  23. Yeah. I think Tec 402s are very under rated books and seem to be much harder to find in higher grade than 400. Mine doesn't have perfect centering, but I'm happy to have it.
  24. I think Whitman only did multipacks with regular size comics, which makes sense I suppose due to the size of these Treasury books. All the Star Wars Whitmans have the UPC. This one really surprised me. I can't seem to find much info about them.
