  1. Not my pic, but the seller's. Always loved the original series.
  2. Always loved that cover. It looks like Tony is making off with a drunken bimbo from one wild party.
  3. Well, whomever won it, I hope he's happy with it. I personally hate that issue. I read the story and thought it was so idiotic and campy, it set Batman back about 10 years into the SA. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was the "real" Beatles, but it's not even that. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Bats 227 is all that good of a read either, but it was good enough to get reprinted at least twice.
  4. Well, 35 min to go and it's still hovering at $1900. Maybe the miswrap is hurting it afterall. Still not a bad price all things considered. That Bats 222 is pulling over a grand now. Too bad I just can't get into that book.
  5. Great book. I remember buying that off the newsstand when I was kid. Always thought Warlock was a cool character even back then. Well, I really liked the lightning bolt on his costume anyway. Looking back, I'm glad they got rid of it. It does look kind of campy.
  6. Just some crappy reader copies I found in the .50 cent bin of a LCS near me.
  7. I remember buying that book off the stands. As a kid, I didn't care that it was a reprint It was just a cool book with a great Gil Kane cover and fantastic Gene Colan insides. fun story too.
  8. My wins from the Sep CL auctions came in today. Not the most thrilling, but I'm happy. The Tec 422 is an upgrade book from my older 9.0 OW/W. The rest are just books I've wanted, but never really spent a lot of energy chasing (they were cheap pickups).
  9. I'm actually more taken back by what looks like scuffing towards the top right. The wrap has a lot of white, but it's not too bad as it's straight enough that it doesn't bother me too much.
  10. Great story, Brian48. I couldn't remember the pedigree it came from, I wish I could see a picture of it. I know that feeling of getting caught up in the bidding. One door closes and another opens, I always say. I saved a hi-res pic of it. Looks more like a 9.4 to me, but I'm a PQ snob. http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/Jarhead/tec395.htm
  11. That was the Twin Cities pedigree from last year. It was a rather weak 9.6, but PQ was W. I bid about $3300 or so on it myself. Was about submit an even higher bid, but internet lag with the live auction during the last few minutes were so bad, the auction was over by the time I reconnected. Not entirely disappointed. It was probably for the best because after the book reached passed $2500, I was running on testosterone and bidding just to win versus me actually wanting to own the book itself. The wife would have killed me if I had won.
  12. This was just listed today on the Link. http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2FNewItems%2Easp%3FType%3D%26f1%3Di%2ELastUpdate%26ODire1%3DDESC&id=950319 Pricetag is a bit frothy. $2K? Well, good luck to him.
  13. OK. So anyone here win either the 9.2 or 9.6? The 9.2 actually went a little higher than what I thought it would go. Both would be nice pick-ups though.
  14. I guess I'll have to pass on this then Oh well. Nice to dream for a bit. Saving the scan anyway
  15. Not Bats 227, but has anyone noticed the really nice looking Tec 31 CGC 4.0 OW/W over at Comicconnect's upcoming auction? Does anyone know what was the last sale on this book in any condition? I'm wondering if it's going to be in my affordability range. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=451023
  16. Looks like the Sparklecity auction on eBay has a 9.8 up for bidding. Does anyone know if ithis is an "old" 9.8 or whether it's one that has been recently slabbed? Sparklecity Bats 9.8
  17. I really liked both flicks. I hope this happens.
  18. I agree witth everything Teddie has said and no its not my copy either but i have held it in my hand about 2 years ago but the owner wasnt willing to sell. From memory the first things that occured to me were the fact that it was a bright clean copy, had sharp corners and that it had White pages. I didnt really take much notice of the date stamp simply because date stamps dont bother me. As for the QP it really isnt as bad as what some people think. The one's i really take a dislike to are the ones that appear like the Western Penn Avengers #116 coming up in the next foucused auction on Comiclink http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview%2Easp%3Fcode%3D2012sept%26session%3D4%26pg%3D6%23Item%5F945156&id=945156 that for me is too obvious. I think that the only things stopping it from getting a 9.8 is probably the date stamp and possibly the slight wear top left. Certainly one of the better 9.6's ive seen recently. Where's the datestamp on this book?
  19. I think the price is going to lower simply because it's got a little competition this month. This 9.2 is going up at the same time. Not a bad wrap albeit the PQ is not as good. and for comparison.
  20. Yeah, those corners are beautiful. The date smudge does bother me though. I'm not a big fan of date stamps to begin with, but will accept them if they're neat. This one is not.
