  1. I just don't really have anything to donate. I recently "donated" all of my excess books, that I didn't want to keep, to my younger brother. Next year may be different. Sometimes I get caught between, "do I want a run of issues or its omnibus", and those stragglers may be up for giveaway in 2019.
  2. Agreed. The condition of the slab (if old) has also had no effect on my decision unless it's not discounted by $15-20 for future re-slabbing. The condition of the book is all that matters to me.
  3. LMFAO. Ultimatums and deadlines are definitely incentives for sellers to be receptive of your discounted price... Not. I would sell a book (or anything) for less to someone with class and manners. I think these poor manners stem from never working in the customer service field. You really learn to appreciate (and use) manners and respect when dealing with nice people vs b-holes. I am far from a "nice" person but I will be on my best behavior when trying to get something for a discounted price. Whether it's because I value it for less, or just don't have the budget close enough, doesn't matter. Sellers are people, too.
  4. How many times have we read this story..? When I first started, I thought that most comics I buy off-the-shelf would just naturally be a 9.8. Do you know how rare that actually is? They're probably 8.5s-9.2s when you buy 'em. I have no problems with this. When you get an actual 9.8, you begin to realize how much small imperfections can rack up to a lower grade. My coworker recently gifted me some comics he used for drawing-detail purposes. Bought 'em in 1990, bagged and boarded them, and didn't really stress the books out. There's no way any of them are even 8.0s. They're not beat up but they aren't close to mint. Nobody's perfect, and that includes CGC, but they have a good reputation and I rarely, very rarely, disagree with grades they've (metaphorically) stamped on their slabs.
  5. "Hey guys just wondering what you usually set aside in your monthly budget for comics?" About $2k give/take $500. "How much do you spend on back issues vs new comics?" Back issues easily outweigh new comics. Outside of DC titles, Marvel's reboots kinda suck other than ASM and X-Men. Getting into current stories (or art) is pretty difficult. Edit: Captain America is not bad right now. "Do you buy them through ebay? Do you get subscriptions or buy from a shop?" I buy a lot off of eBay. Mainly full runs or TPBs. I have a couple of shops for single issues. All CGC books I get from here or eBay.
  6. I've heard similar opinions on The Flash. I really love the New 52 Justice League run. I've heard that Aquaman and The Flash were the highlights for the solo characters, and that the Trinity had good runs as well. It looks like the titles that ended around issue #40 were "replaced" with new titles released for Wave 2. The New 52 is a good place to start for me in collecting whole runs. They're all around 55-65 issues, and complete stories (and very relatively new - making them fairly cheap to buy). I did a good amount of research in putting this list together. I think it's pretty accuate and complete. Some of my sources may have been incomplete, though, so just double-checking.
  7. You can't tell him what to do you're not his dad! But, yes, I would return this book...
  8. I'm interested in collecting all of DC's New 52 runs that went the distance from Genesis to Revelation. I already have all of Justice League. I'm hoping that the community here can verify, or correct, this list's accuracy on the subject. So... The original list is based on volume size (50+ issues), so I'm sure that there will be inaccuracies right off-the-bat. All of your collected help is appreciated! I will update the list as corrections are posted. Here are the 52 titles they began in 2011 (bolded are the ones that did not end prior to 2016): Action Comics All-Star Western Animal Man Aquaman Batgirl Batman Batman and Robin* Batman: The Dark Knight Batwoman* Batwing Birds of Prey Blackhawks Blue Beetle Captain Atom Catwoman DC Universe Presents Deathstroke Demon Knights Detective Comics The Flash Frankenstein, Agent of SHADE The Fury of Firestorm Green Arrow Green Lantern Green Lantern Corps* Green Lantern: New Guardians* Grifter Hawk & Dove I, Vampire Justice League Justice League Dark* Justice League International Legion Lost Legion of Super-Heroes Men of War Mister Terrific Nightwing OMAC Red Hood and the Outlaws* Red Lanterns* Resurrection Man The Savage Hawkman Static Shock Stormwatch Suicide Squad Superboy Supergirl* Superman Swamp Thing Teen Titans Voodoo Wonder Woman 12/52 titles would be a bad losing % if accurate... (20 titles with 40+ issues runs.)
  9. Is that a picture of the re-neg "buyer" in your avatar..?
