  1. Welcome to the forums. #3 is the same for all collectibles. I collect(ed) playing cards for the fun of using them, but bought 2 of each deck knowing/hoping they'd retain value if I wanted/needed to sell them at some point.
  2. This is generally a great outlook for collecting, but, sometimes the "right" copy just isn't available and you may have to "settle". I watched the markets for 2+ years on Adventures of Superman #497 signed by Jerry Ordway, and the only copy on the market in that span (that I'm aware of) was a 9.6, despite desiring a 9.8. Considering the low SS count on the Census I had to jump on that when my budget opened for it. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult filtering through this site to find exactly what you're looking for, because there are a lot of sellers with a lot of great books. Patience is a virtue, though. Bob's advice is very solid.
  3. This is actually a great method. Being able to remove the book from 1 mylar to see the back cover without exposing it to the elements. I store my non-slabbed comic books flat and in boxes, alternating right-side-up to upside-down, so that staple-side is never repeating. As far as I understand that is the best method. When selling, obviously you want them standing in-box, so that way they can be flipped through.
  4. Thank you! The user has made attempts to belittle me, among other people, and I have no interest in "getting along" with such a jabroni. 99% of this board is full of funny and informal people. I specifically did not quote his post so that I could avoid him continuing to annoy me. Thanks for the suggestion, but he obviously has no interest in being more than an immature child.
  5. Take a note from this guy. Be funny instead of a b-hole.
  6. I know. You think it's funny that hundreds of people respect my opinions and recommendations. I talk to dozens of co-workers through 4 different companies, my family, my friends, and acquaintances through other forums. They spread the word to their co-workers and friends, and the majority of these people take my word on movies and TV shows. They typically agree with my assessments and opinions on these things and I tend to save them time and money on things I/they would rather avoid. I'm not claiming that I have hundreds of friends or anything, but, my opinions do reach hundreds of people. Most of these people are casual moviegoers and casual TV watchers. They have almost identical interests in what they want from stories, themes, and action. 95% of the time, if I tell them it's a waste of time and money, they take my word and watch for "free" on TV later.
  7. No idea who that is. I don't really see the humor. Just because people don't agree with or respect your opinion on movies and shows, doesn't mean that other people experience the same.
  8. In what world does, "too much too fast", not mean that he thinks extended production would lead to better results..? This is remedial English. The Disney CEO is not the leader for Lucasfilms, who has implied, and internally decided that Johnson will not helm a post-IX trilogy. I couldn't care less about this article's lack of information. His track record for understanding the market obviously isn't that great if he's admitting that he didn't understand how rushed production would harm the film's financial gains... Most casual Star Wars fans only care about the current "Skywalker Saga". The main episodic films. If they bomb, casual fans don't care for a crappy follow-up tweener movies (Rogue One and Solo). Every casual person I know of saw Rogue One because The Force Awakens was, at minimum, a good movie. I'll be seeing Episode IX once. If it's great, I'll see it many times, and my critical film opinions are regarded positively by everyone I share them with. Hundreds of people do or do not see movies at my recommendation. So, yes, money will be put where mouths and faith are. Iger wins at life because he's Chairman and CEO of Disney. If Episode IX sucks, Disney/Lucasfilm will not "win", because for hundreds of people I know that would be the final blow to modern Star Wars culture.
  9. Stop responding to my posts, insect. Is there a block list that I can add this nuisance to?
  10. If they were inked. Like when you get fingerprinted by law enforcement. Otherwise wtf?
  11. This must be the "Notice Me, Senpai, Notice Me" guy. Maybe not, because that guy is actually funny.
  12. I'm very proud of most of the females in my life during the election, because they all basically had the same line of thinking, "Do you really want her to be the first female President of the US?" I'll end it at that because no politics.
  13. Please accept my very amateur opinion of 4.0.
  14. Jerkfro's response is good. IMO, most books pre-Modern (before ~1975) are more valuable unsigned. That's a personal opinion of mine, and the market may disagree. Also IMO, any Modern books you get signed, you should 100% get them witnessed and slabbed by CGC. You may not intend on selling any signed books in the future, but if you have to, the Signature Series books will have no question about their validity as long as there is no tampering with the encapsulation.
  15. Oh, I couldn't care less about Solo. I don't think any amount of extended production time could make that film much more money. The financial loss on Solo is partly based on the fanbase being screwed by Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi. Almost every person I know or talked to said they weren't going to see Solo for that reason. We wanted to put our money where our mouths are and it seems to have paid off by Johnson's post-IX trilogy being "cancelled". If the CEO is just taking blame for Solo's financial loss by thinking a December release would've made things whole or better, then he's misunderstanding half of why it was a loss. I would've gone to see Solo, even multiple times, regardless of trailers/etc if Episode XIII was any good. It wasn't, and Disney/Lucasfilms missed out on hundreds of my dollars just because of that.
  16. This. Again, I also love the Dawn of Justice Director's Cut. I think it's a great second act for the Superman trilogy. He was also specifically great in Justice League, despite Justice League being a very middling movie altogether. I wouldn't say any movie with Cavill's Superman is "godawful". Even the Theatrical Version of BvS wasn't that bad.
  17. I'm sick of all the SJW and "feminist" in Hollywood. Most of the women/girls in my life can't stand it either. Said sentence is null if this is actually based on an all-female comic. I'm just not a fan of the people who loved Wonder Woman "because she's a female", and who seemingly love Captain Marvel "because she's a female". Wonder Woman was great because it was a good story and directed well. Captain Marvel looks good because it's in the MCU and they hit mostly everything out of the park (especially recently). Sorry, I always go on this rant, because my brother's fiance literally only loved the Wonder Woman movie because of her gender. She defends the 3rd act because it was a "great leap for women" or something like that... [/end]
