  1. I like it, but I'm very surprised at how vivid the green and purple colors are, I mean, this is a Zack Snyder film right? where's the muted color tones? btw, how did purple and green come to represent both Lex and the Joker? strange.
  2. Which book in my top 5 does it displace? I believe question was 5 most valuable/expensive comics today? I guarantee you john would sell the book for 2 mil if anyone would offer that. Yet that would not place it in top 5, so not sure how anyone can think ow To expand my thoughts The mile high supes 1 would sell for more (#6 on my list) The 9.8 cap 1 would sell for more The 9.8 marvel 1 might sell for more The 8.5 action 1 would sell for more Etc That's why I'm not sure it scratches top 10 that's a very solid extended list. I sometimes forget about the MH Supes #1, it's an 8.0 correct?
  3. Yup. I disagree, they are not bad covers, they are both very dynamic covers that perfectly introduce two huge characters in comics history, Superman showing his strength and Batman swinging from buildings. the art is not on the same level as say a Neal Adams, but for the time period they work well. and it could have been worse, like the cover art to Fantastic Comics #9 or so.
  4. no posts in this thread since Christmas?! what the?! in the club for the first time
  5. there is a blue label CGC .5 in the current Heritage auction.
  6. I should have held onto this copy I had back in 2009. ended up selling it for $2,275. I sold it becuz there was talk on the boards at that time about SC4 being a dead book, and that it may even drop over time. lesson learned about not listening to all the "board banter" and stick with what you believe. wonder where it is today and what it would sell for, as it was a nice presenting 3.0 copy.
  7. I'm diggin it like a madman. here's why: first up, the first few opening scenes feel like Watchmen to me. looks like at some point Supes has taken over as some sort of dictator to save us from ourselves. sorta like "Brave new Metropolis" from S:TAS. or Superman: Red Son, or many other comic storylines with the same theme. the troops who bow down before him have the "S" symbol on their uniforms so I guess Supes has his own army, maybe also in conjunction with the government as well. ala TDKR storyline, no one trusts him, Luthor helps Bats confront him. this is all just guesses based on this trailer, I haven't kept up on all the rumored storylines, etc. so I may be waaaay off base. but, I love Superman, love Batman, can't wait.
  8. 9.4 copies are breaking $300 now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-CGC-9-4-WHITE-Pgs-/311312244782?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=TtWDsvdm4uDLt5e4qVWF0pddCME%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-CGC-9-4-1977-Original-Marvel-Series-HOT-/351322462983?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51cc735b07&nma=true&si=TtWDsvdm4uDLt5e4qVWF0pddCME%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  9. And your point here is ..... ? The Boards still have integrity. It's a tough crowd! No doubt. It's a litmus test. Either the boards are cheap, which they are, or $1500 is high. I don't know what the rationale is. It was just an observation. Lord knows I've sold numerous book elsewhere for higher prices (even accounting for sales fees) that the prices offered here on the boards. definitely, I've offered books here that I'm glad didn't sell because I ended up getting more for it elsewhere. I think board members are the last to accept a books "higher realized pricing".
  10. Same "winning" bidder in two of those three auctions, and the under - bidder who drove up the price in the middle auction as well. -J. not me, I swear I've already got my copies.
  11. 9.4 copies are now consistently above the $300 mark. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-comic-Marvel-1977-CGC-9-4-white-pages-/221698331237?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=cZfIQ%252BnOLpGNt49eEQIdRUjKIU0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-CGC-9-4-WHITE-Pages-A-New-Hope-Jul-1977-Marvel-/251849841835?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=cZfIQ%252BnOLpGNt49eEQIdRUjKIU0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-CGC-Graded-9-4-Beautiful-WHITE-PAGES-New-Movie-Release-HOT-/351318909295?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51cc3d216f&nma=true&si=cZfIQ%252BnOLpGNt49eEQIdRUjKIU0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  12. As a side note the comic link regular 9.8 copy went for $1,500 (20% below the manipulated ebay auctions that reached "$1,875"), and copies are starting to appear on ebay at this particular price point now as well. -J. pricing isn't always an escalator, sometimes it's a roller coaster. I felt the way you do when this was happening to BA12, and I thought prices would come way down after everyone realized that these books are EVERYWHERE. but there is just so much focus on keys right now.
  13. sweet books Silver. (thumbs u
  14. I haven't been watching the 9.8 copies, but I have been watching (and buying) the 9.6 and 9.4 copies, and the book is up in all grades, 9.6, could be had for $300 two months ago, now they sell for $600 or slightly above, and the 9.4 copies during the same time were selling for $150-$200, they are now selling for $225-$275. I think the 9.8s are catching thier breath, after such a fast upswing in price, the top end copies are always hard to peg, this book reminds me of the pattern BA12 took a year and a half ago. I wasn't paying attention to BA12 at the time so I'll take your word for it. yeah, to be more clear on that , it took some time for BA12 in 9.8 to be accepted as a $1000-$1,500 book. Star Wars 1 may follow the same path.

  16. 1. this is a KEY book, it's the first appearance of Darth Vader in Green Helmet, and Princess Leia's hotter red headed sister. 2. print runs no longer matter, look at BA12 or NM98. to me those books are way overpriced, maybe since I, along with the rest of you can remember when those were dollar bin books. but I decided a long time ago, to not try to make sense of this hobby but to go with "what is" and right now Star Wars #1 is a hot book.
  17. well, this one is getting closer to $2k http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAR-WARS-1-CGC-9-8-WHITE-PAGES-1977-MINT-CASE-MOVIES-FIRST-PRINT-MARVEL/231479894655?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28797%26meid%3D5019bb0d7734401db2310790a53d5b5c%26pid%3D100034%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D8%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D301523126398
  18. number 8?!?! so jealous, looks great.
  19. The next 9.8 will get listed after these 2 9.6s go for around 700 each. These books going for a lot only solidifys the 9.8 being 1800-2K books. A 9.6 also sold for a $600 B.I.N. yesterday. man o man, just a month ago 9.6 copies were sitting unsold at $300, can 9.4s be next?
