  1. this is the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen. Tarzan? really? They will make more solo Tarzan movies over solo Superman movies these next 5 years! Why? The audience can`t relate to Superman for some reason. The new Tarzan looks modern and relevant. the Tarzan movie (movies) might do well, who knows, but as for the mainstream American culture as a whole? I think that's stretching a bit. Worldwide audience for Tarzan is huge! Plus we all know Superman With a solo Ben Afflect Batman movie and Batman leading the Justice League in the Justice League movie the hype for Batman #1/Detective Comics #27 will be off the charts! in regards to your "spoiler" post um, Henry Cavill is in the JL pt. 1 cast, so.. he will be in movies soon.

  3. this is the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen. Tarzan? really? your posts are always so "in the moment", when Iron Man was hot, you posted he would be the Number 1 hero due to his 'technology angle" being hot with millennials, then when both Spider-man reboots did less then Man of Steel domestically, you proclaimed Superman was starting to overtake Spider-man in popularity, so which is it? and now your claiming the critics problem with BATSvSUPES is Superman? no, it's not, they almost all cite story, -script, movie not being focused, movie being too dark and no sense of fun, etc. I've seen a few critics not liking Afflecks Batman for being too violent and bitter. and Tec 27 held the number one GA book spot for a few years from the 1989 Batman movie, but Action 1 regained the number one spot sometime in the 90's, so why was that? don't seem to recall any Superman movies in the 90's. While there were 3 Batman movies in that time, (albeit bad ones) I think Superman will be just fine in the next 100 years. DUDE that was not the 90s but 2000s Action 1 has some high grade copys that busted records thats why. I only saw 1 8.0 copy of Tec 27 sell in 40 years and there are few high grade Action 1s as of last 10 years. I told Mitch if a 9.0 w page Tec 27 was to hit the market it would break all records. you made me bust out my Overstreet guide didn't you (sigh), I'm looking at it right now, the 25th edition of OS guide, mine has the Yellow Kid and X-men on the cover, it says in the "Top Golden Age books" section, Tec27 was #1 in 1994 and Action 1 was #2. then the very next year 1995 Action 1 regained the #1 spot, so how is that not in the 90's? my point is that while Batman had several movies in the 90s, Superman had none, so what exactly was it that made Action #1 take back the #1 spot that year? anywho, I know you have a Tec 27, so off course you want to see that book do well, which it will of course, I have niether book, I think we get a little movie crazy at times, BTW, a Tec 31 was listed at $16k in NM in 1995 OS.

  5. I knew I liked you, pretty much how I felt, after reading the reviews, I went in and kept waiting for it to suck, but it never did.
  6. the audience I was with clapped as well at the end, can't remember the last time that happened, uh, Gladiator maybe? I dunno.
  7. ok, just got back from seeing the movie with my 12 yr old son, and I expected the worst from everything I've heard leading up to the release, however, we both loved it, I really can't understand the bad reviews, the only thing I think might warrant them would be the different plot points, characters, DC story history stuff going on. the film is not a linear one, it does tend to shoot off into different directions, but not in a distracting way at all at least I felt. want to see it again before the theatrical run is over. for comparison sake, I really didn't care for "Man of Steel" movie, but feel this one is a major step up.
  8. a few GA books posted in the FS section. link
  9. happy bday dude hey thanks man. Happy Birthday fellow Kentuckian! and thanks for not buying my Bat 1 few years back in Cincy! thanks Leroy and your Bat 1 is very nice, I was serious about buying it that day, but I could tell you didn't want to sell since you had just got it. smart move.
  10. so, lower than expected, higher than expected or right in line with current market value? Batman #1 CGC 1.0 Slight (A) slightly brittle.
  11. looks great, but dirty pool putting Queen music over top of that, as anything would look good with Queen music over top of it.
  12. not really getting the joke, my birthday is in January and I'm 47 years old. Jeff Bridges. The Dude. Born December 4, 1949. 66 years ago. Ah, THE dude. Got it.

  14. You could say the same thing about Star Wars: A New Hope. we knew NOTHING and had no back story of the characters or the world they lived in, George just dropped us right in the middle of the action and counted on the audience to fill in the blanks or figure it out, which is what I loved about it. wasn't that the appeal for a long time as well with Wolverine and his unknown Origins, until, that is, Marvel made his origins known. I don't mind not having every thing set up or explained to me before hand. I really enjoyed the Death of Supes storyline and the Funeral for a friend follow up. it's what got me back into comics as a young adult. I did NOT like the Four Supermen storyline that followed, (Cyborg, Superboy, Eradicator, and Steel), I think you're cherry picking some phrases in the criticism. The bottom line is that there's nothing established within the story either. You can pass on "setup" if your story reveals what the reader needs to know. The Death of Superman storyline didn't do that, from what I remember. not necessarily talking about just the setup, but the entire world of Star Wars was foreign to us without much explanation, my point was/is does everything need to be known to enjoy the story? we didn't know much of what "the force" was until of course Midiclorians, (ugh), some of my favorite movies/TV shows/stories are those that don't lay everything out for you. 2001 space odyssey, 12 Monkeys, just to name a few.

  19. yes Leroy, still have mine, and your right, you had yours priced high that year, but I still was serious about buying it at that price, cuz I knew with Action 1, Tec 27 and Supes 1 out of reach for most collectors, that Batman #1 would be next.
  20. That is one horrible, gnarly, hot mess of a Batman 1 I agree, already sitting at $6k.
  21. should be interesting to see where this ends up. Batman #1
