  1. I have wondered why WF #91 is less scarce than all the issues around it? A simple answer would be about differing print runs but that seems unlikely to me. Unless it's just that I happen to have seen more of #91 than other numbers around it! Don't know, but that certainly is a nicer one than generally seen! (thumbs u
  2. This was either recycled into or from a Turok cover. Hmmmmmm. Well the composition and feel does indeed resemble Four Color 596 which came out four years earlier:
  3. Cool! I'm a fan of any cover featuring Batwoman, Bat-Girl or Bat-Hound! That dour killjoy Julius Schwartz eliminated those characters in 1964 upon becoming editor of the Batman titles. (thumbs u
  4. I think I'm among the biggest fans of the Howdy Doody run on this board. Here are scans of four of my File copies: 13 20
  5. I've always loved the cover of #83. From the days when comics weren't afraid to be comics! I also have a thing for bright pink covers and #91 does the job for me on that score. (thumbs u
  6. Here are a couple more scans of World's Finest books from my collection:
  7. Russ Heath did some fabulous war books for DC. He's my second favourite DC war genre artist after Joe Kubert with Ross Andru being third. Well if you like war comics you might like these even though they're not by Heath:
  8. Methinks it was more the case that the editors at DC were dainty to the point of being supercilious.
  9. Me I'm not greedy. I just want one really nice copy of whatever books I like.
  10. Here are scans of my Hawkman from my collection of the Brave & the Bolds showcasing Hawkman: My favourite two covers of the lot are #35 and #42.
  11. I'll have to ask the thread originator whether post code books are allowed in this thread. I'll withhold my praise for your book until after we get an answer.
  12. Two more scans from my collection:
  13. Here are scans from my collection of some Superman books from 1962: The #156 was heavily advertised in other DC mags and I remember waiting for it to hit the stands with eager anticipation.
  14. Here then are scans of my last three Indian Chief books: 21 22 31
  15. Here are scans of three more of my Capt. Storm books:
  16. Here are scans of my five earliest issues:
  17. Alright then. I'll post three more: 15 16 17
  18. Wow! That's the highest graded CGC copy posted yet on this thread I believe! How deeply are you into the remainder of the Silver Age Green Lantern run?
  19. Overall the art isn't as slick as you find in the DC war books from the late fifties and on. Generally just one out of the four stories in each book is pencilled by Lee Elias. What's really interesting though is that the stories in Warfront aren't gung-ho "war is a picnic" ones like the ones in Sgt. Fury for example. The feature character of the stories is actually killed sometimes. The stories therefore don't necessarily have happy endings and the Americans don't win every encounter.
  20. It's one of my all-time favourites as well. Julius Schwartz must have been prejudiced aginst dalmatians to keep them off any other cover.
  21. Hopefully the *^@%^&% that sent the kids to those camps ended up good and solidly interned themselves for those actions.
  22. Has Strange Adventures now joined the ranks of titles that have fallen into disfavour? If so, I'll take that as my cue to parade out scans of some of mine.
