  1. Just curious, what is Bob Storm's website? I am unfamiliar with him. Thanks! Great books, all!!! Really top notch!
  2. One of the top 10 coolest individual comics I have seen posted. What a gem. I am a big fan of the "woman in glass tube" motif (for ex: CAPTAIN AMERICA #3) ... this SCIENCE issue is a prime example!!! And look at the colors! Well done, Jon B! We would expect no less than the best!!
  3. Now that is an attractive selection of books, Ciorac!! Seeing those together makes to want to own a small batch of DC's myself... NO!! Must ... resist... broadening... collecting... tastes...
  4. HOT STUFF Steve~! Dang, those are some nice books. Lucky for you I didn't find that KDF 20 first... that is a beaut. That 18 is nothing to sneeze at as well!! I love that EYE cover!!
  5. Way ahead of you. I have already bid on it six times. Doubt I will win it though, especially after you decided to post the link here. OOOPS... I done bad? just trying to help!!
  6. I spotted this SCIENCE COMICS #4 on Ebay yesterday... prices are climbing quite rapidly!! Anyways, thought maybe one of you might be interested... its such a great cover, and the grade is really nice. Nice Kirby "Cosmic Carson" story inside, and cover by Simon. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1 Good luck!
  7. Thanks, Ryan! Nope, the Superman #6 is my major purchase and that will do it for me for awhile. Well...for this week anyway. Well, OK...for today. Actually, right after midnight I might hit the BIN on something..... I know how that goes! I know!!! I feel like I'm on newsprint crack!! I'll stop after this one... really... (what can I pawn??)
  8. "Slightly brittle pages"? OK then, I'll take a chance on Sub-Mariner. I could live with slightly brittle. (BTW, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to PointFive!!! Any birthday GA book wishes come true today??)
  9. Thanks for your comments one and all... it makes me feel a little more secure about dropping $$$ on a heavily restored book. I am still blown away by the cover art... just as I was when I first saw it in the Overstreet cover gallery in the back of the price guide (the edition was the one with the L.B. Cole cover feature I believe)!
  10. ... and this #2 is going out to CentaurMan, who has posted some really amazing GA sci-covers in the last 24 hours. I think this is one of the best, and a robot cover to boot!! Its a low grade copy, but no restoration, and is solid. With #1 and 2 under my belt, I would love to start picking away at a MYSTERY MEN run of issues #1 to 12... How do I stop myself??
  11. Just received these via FedEx today... The first one is going out to PointFive, who started the thread. A MYSTERY MEN #1, extensive pro restoration, but nice eye appeal, and the only way I would be able to afford this book (in decent condition anyways)! I have always loved the cover... and being a key #1 issue, I couldn't resist. I took a chance on the fact it was restored (it was slabbed until about ten minutes ago)... maybe I should post it in the "Favorite Restored Book" thread as well. To me, I'm just happy I own the book, and hopefully I didn't pay too much for it (its an app. 5.0 ext. resto)... paper quality is really nice... anyways, it's mine now!! (PointFive: no snide remarks from you about my golden age addiction!! You know I need professional help!)
  12. X 2 Dang!! Can't think of anything snappy to say... However , Steve, you have succeeded in making me squirm!
  13. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH SEEING THIS SCAN MAKES ME WANT THIS BOOK... That is in incredible book CM!!! Did you mention somewhere it was a recent purchase? Absolutely stunning. That could be THE best Everett Sci-Fi cover from that era! What beautiful line work. Greytone? I don't think so... looks like black ink without any other color passes over it. True greytone would have a visible "texture" to it, like the AMF 2/5 cover, with the fine mechanical lines or cross hatching. Of course, I wouldn't know for sure, never having OWNED these books... Would be curious to know more about this issue of AMF... what IS the pedigree?
  14. Brilliant books, CM!! I have always liked these early sci-fi DC covers, you just don't see enough of them... and what condition too!! MIND BLOWING!!! They are so nice to see. Thanks so much for posting those! Your collection must be a sight to behold when its spread out on the living room floor. Do you ever scatter them on the floor and just swim through them, like Uncle Scrooge swimming in his money lake?
  15. Wow, a beautiful book SS! What was your previous copy graded at? (Also, your scan is super sharp!! I haven't been able to get nice crisp scans like that ... is there a trick?) congrats!
  16. You're welcome pb66 - since the 1/2 is so hard to find, consider Amazing Adventure Funnies # 1 which reprints the story (along with a bunch of other terrific Centaur stories...I highly recommend the issue). STEVE (Luvin' Larson) Firstly, great purchase SS!! I have been eyeing that issue for about a year now... great cover!! Secondly, I will back up Steve's statement about AMAZING ADVENTURE FUNNIES #1... the art inside is actually the best you will find in any Centaur (IMO), as it contains multiple stories by Everett, Burgos and Gustavson... there is a fantastic story where the Fantom battles a giant white prehistoric ape, previously frozen. Please keep the Centaur's coming!! Its great to see these books come out of the woodwork!!
  17. Very nice, Steve. Why did I sell my copy?? ARGHHH!
  18. Given that I've got the strength of a man half my size, I'll pass on the tempting offer. I will say, I picked the worst day to be laid up in bed sick. I'm missing 3 Keen Detective Funnies to finish the full run of 24, and that #20 is one of the three. Obviously, if either of you guys want to move your copy, I've got some very cool stuff I'd trade you for it...... Hope you are feeling better , CM ... I kind of thought you must have been laid up with the avian flu or WORSE, since you seem to have radar for Centaurs! Of course you know that you are my first call if I sell the #20.
  19. Thanks P5! There are still lots of nice Centaurs on the Pedigree site... Damn! Just when I told myself I was going to slow it down, these types of books show up!! P5 knows what I'm talking about. Probably paid too much for the A-MAN 8, but its not common, and its the right condition/price range for me, so what the heck!! The only other ones I've seen for sale are real dogs on ebay, or the Mile High copy for $6,000,000.
  20. My only regret is I own most of the cool cover books... would love to buy more at those prices. Someone please buy that A-MAN #11 (purple cover)!!! And that A-MAN #6 is one of my all time fav's... would pick that puppy up if I had the extra $$$. But, very happy with my purchase, SS!! Cheers! (Steve: please tell me you will be slab-cracking as soon as your book gets to you!!)
  21. The Church KDF 20 - Now I'm the one who is envious (congrat's, I had no idea you had that book ). Yeah, I got it - if CentaurMan wants a bloodbath, he'll have to come over to my house. My sister weighs 350 lbs and he's going to have to go through HER to get to ME. Pedigree comics is mainly known as a SA dealer - kudos to Silver Surfer for the heads up. STEVE (making mine Larson) Hey Steve, I only threw that scan in there as that is my only "money" book... it pales in comparison to your collection. Congratulations on a great find!! That is one "swell" book. What a beauty copy. I'm jealous and I already own one!! Well, my bid on the A-MAN #8 just went through, so I am very happy to land that book! I'll second the kudos to SilverSurfer!! (insert scratchy record of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" here)
  22. Oh man, if I didn't already have the Church copy I'd be ALL OVER that Larson A-Man 6. Don't tell RyanH, but THE classic Eye Sees cover (Keen Detective Funnies # 20) has already been sold - and it's the Larson copy. HEY! WHATTA LOOKING AT ME FOR!?! STEVE (making mine Larson) Well, for *spoon*'s sakes... Why didn't someone tell me sooner??? Just kidding... Steve, did you snag the Larson KDF #20? If CentaurMan finds out there will be a bloodbath. That is a beaut copy. It would have been tempting to pull the trigger on that one for a grand, its such a nice comic, and a Larson copy yet!! (its ok Steve... I have the Church KDF #20): I did just hit the BIN button on the A-MAN #8 (2.0), thank you very much SilverSurfer!! Hopefully the bid goes through ok... that is on my short list! I DID NOT know about Pedigree comics.... is this new?
  23. Where are these A-MAN books listed? Inquiring minds want to know.
