  1. 6.5 in my book all day but for CGC it could get 7.0
  2. I had it at 5.0 before viewing back so I will drop down to the 4.0-4.5 range
  3. I wouldn't say premium but I think they are super cool. I will post my ASM 100 I bought last year of a boardie for what I felt was a solid price. Star stamp, National Diamond insert (Mark Jewellers got nothing on NDIs!) and was a solid 7.0-7.5 range copy for around $250. Looking at current prices on regular ASM 100s and Id say this is around par/a decent deal plus the added bonus included.
  4. Hey if anyone is interested, you can purchase my drek....ahem, I mean business....for half he price! Heck for 1/100 the price!
  5. Is this yours???? Man I just sent in a copy that looks better so I guess I can expect a 10.0
  6. Welcome to the boards! So generally, writing on an older comic (like 1970s or older) is not factored in negatively, and at worse might bump a comic 0.5 grade. A tiny date written, a name neatly written....it is very possible to still obtain a high grade with such a defect because it pertains to the history of the comic (a lot of collectors, myself included, like a date stamp or even a neatly written identifier). Scribbles all over a cover, well that is obviously a different story because that would distract from the appeal of the book much more significantly. Now, in this book's case, I personally would NOT want any of those things (except maybe a date stamp). Why? It is from the "modern" era, a time when books were being collected and should be pristine to warrant high grade. So in your example, it appears CGC has lessened the stance on such a thing and apply it to every book. I am a bit surprised tho to see this and would have thought 9.0-9.2 would make more sense for such a marking. Can you clearly read "Tyler"? It is hard to see. If it were an ink blotch from printing (that just happens to appear to spell a name), well that is unfortunate but because it is a printing defect, it also does not factor in (aside from keeping a book a 9.8 which, again if this is just an ink spot from printing would mean that is why this book is not 9.8) Certain collectors think such ink markings should be hit harder (and they can be when they are severe on a book and really distract from the book overall) but CGCs stance on printing defects is to not have them hinder the grade. Unlike grading cards where it is ALL about how nicely a card is printed, centered, etc.
  7. Alas, the exception to the probably rule (of not being able to get a 5.0 or lower book up into the 8's or 9's. This book is confusing as I do not see how they simply reattached it by opening the staples and reattaching. The detached pages must have slid out perfectly or in a way that they could even be reassembled and had something to hold onto.
  8. 7.5 Doubt the stain can be removed without some serious soaking and bathing done by a real pro which....for this book, why would ya bother. Plenty of nicer copies around these parts!
  9. If that small crease top of spine on front cover breaks colour, 9.2 for me. If not and can be pressed out, higher.
  10. The craziest bump I have ever seen on the higher grade side was a 7.5 copy of New Mutants 98 that was bumped after a press and clean to a 9.6 The original notes on the 7.5 stated "multiple crease to the center of the front cover". These were obviously not colour breaking (and must have been numerous) for it to get a bump like this. Oh and another...a 6.5 to a 9.0 on a Marvel Premiere 28. No notes on the original 6.5 copy but obviously had similar creasing issues as the New Mutants that could be pressed out.
  11. I think when pressing low grade books, the best you can hope for is a 0.5-1.0 grade bump. Even for a book at the higher end of low grade (like a 5.0), it would be unlikely to ever see one pressed into VF range or better (unless it was littered with non colour breaking flaws and was dirty). I would say 7.0-9.0 range books are the best bets for being bumped up 1-2 grade ranges or better.
  12. Pictures would be a HUGE help The finger bends and writing SHOULD be cleanable and pressable. That being said, the tear and creasing and tanning are not and those defects may be why it falls where it did. At best, I think a 0.5 bump would be possible. So weigh the risks. Maybe you spends $150 and get the same grade....maybe you spend $150, get a grade bump and up the value x amount. You can weigh the pros and cons there.
  13. I am also of the 4.0-4.5 camp. Mayybbeeee a 5.0 is possible after some love
  14. I’m seconding this. McFarlane being the newbie who came along and spray painted something awesome on these guys on the mountain tho.
  15. My best round Bullseye on Sensation and Strange Tales. I was a 5.5 on War Action, a 6.5 on Surfer and a 9.2 on 101….oh so close
  16. This has definitely happened Imagine being a kid back in the day. You miss grabbing Hulk 180 from the rack but your buddy has a copy so you trade for it because everyone is talking about this great new character. You rush home to read it and are flipping through and get to the last page and....your friend cut out Wolverine! So you STILL have no clue who he is or what he looks like!!!!!
  17. I'm still intrigued at what it would sell for...if you do ever list someplace, link it here. Or perhaps divulge the price of a private sale
  18. Probably taped the image on the first page of their Hulk 181 to reallllly make sure that became the first appearance.
  19. Yes Is that asking too much? I think not. I don't know how they enter grader notes in but one would assume they have a database of prepopulated comments they select (if they don't they really should for efficiency and simplicity). All you would need are the following comments for interior cutouts "missing Marvel Value stamp" "missing ad cut out, affects/does not affects story" "image cut out on Page ___, affects/does not affect story" "large chunk missing from interior page, affects/does not affect story" Boom...grader selects comment 3 in this case, edits to say affects and maybe in brackets puts (Wolverine)
  20. Wow hahaha So yeah....while I don't expect CGC to note exactly what is cut out, I should think that in this case they should have put "entire image of Wolverine cut out from Page 16" somewhere in the notes at least Moreso the question is now what the heck does this even sell for? Inquiring minds want to know!
  21. Ditto, don't believe this ish had multiple printings 6.5-7.0 range
  22. 6.5 here also A book I need too....eventually
  23. 8.0-8.5 Stains kills modern books. Any books really
  24. 2.0 Cover essentially detached. Exactly the copy I expect to one day own though, beauty!
