  1. Ha, well I'll trade them all to be 25 again! I'm somewhat amazed how some of them held up so well. Obviously I knew some had value , I mean I bought someoff the wall for $10-$20 so I knew they were 'keys'. But they all went into the long boxes in my closet for ~15-20 years - only air conditioned when the wall unit was plugged in. Eventually I moved them to the basement of the house I bought where they basically sat until 2 years ago although I re-organized them a couple of times. All of them in the bags 30+ years old. Luckily some of them were bought in mylars to begin with. Wonder of modern dry cleaning & pressing too I suppose (the ones I slabbed not the Thors posted here ; they were prob $1-$2 I found in the back issue bins)
  2. I believe it was the one who passed away
  3. took another look, no - there's a touch of red by the black order down the spine. Maybe that plays a part but the staple is clean thanks
  4. I'll take Spider-man 2 over the Thomas Jane Punisher for 2004
  5. i was thinking 7.5 with all the spine tics and the ULC/LLC
  6. Sold Josh a Daredevil Miller run - had a quite enjoyable email conversation during the sale. A pleasure to deal with.
  7. another old Thor/Galactus book I found in the dollar bin back in the day just 'cause I loved search out Galactus appearances. thanks
  8. a while ago I had put up 168 - so here's it's partner thanks!
  9. 100% agree. Just watched it. Nice job on the effects.
  10. Sounds like the prefect time for that person who started the 'Help Desk' thread to chime in...
  11. I'm not sure how much CGC deducts due the CF, but this one looks nicer than your other Doom Patrol comic ,so I'll say 5.0-5.5
  12. I'll say 4.5-5.0 due to the CF being detached at one staple. otherwise a nice looking copy. Love that drug store stamp. I stated collecting at the back of a local drug store off the spinner racks back in the day.
  13. You mean Fantastic Four 48? GPA Analysis offers a free look at sales for FF 48 https://comics.gpanalysis.com/try-out
  14. It depends on what Fair Market Value (FMV) you select when filling out the submittal form and selecting 'tier' level For books in the condition of what you are describing, you would use the Value tier ($27 per book to grade), plus a $5 fee and shipping back to you. Your FMV guides that cost if u want USPS registered mail (~$35 for the pair according to a CGC shipping chart) That is prob close to what those books are worth in ~2.0 condition
  15. As far as potential value, go to eBay and use their 'sold items' filter to go thru recent sales, though pay attention to the condition. There's also free sites like comicspriceguide (raw) or goCollect (slabs; some info requires a subscription) Attics are not a good place to store comics. You can also post pics/scans in the Buddy Can You Spare a Grade forum. That ASM 129 should prob be the 1st one to investigate. Note that most comics, even relatively old ones, aren't particularly valuable.
  16. Glad I went looking thru the previous pages - only 8 years late for a reply. That place was my LCS which I just referenced in the thread about Remembering 1st Comic Shop. It was by Solly playground on Bustleton. I still remember the sign they had by the cash register about his death. I never knew their last names; when I started collecting I went there every week for a few years. They never said that much to me. One day one of them stopped in late at a Burger King I was working at and brought back some soggy fries to complain when he recognized me. So I made him a fresh batch which made him quite happy. I don't know why I still remember that. Probably all of the book I submitted to CGC came from there. One, X-Men 94, had slight color touch. I wonder now if they 'enhanced' that one. They certainly had a large back issue collection. I never knew about that accident.
  17. My 1st "comic store" would be the spinner rack at the back of a local pharmacy where I'd meet the friend who got me into collecting. Occasionally we'd take the bus/train into Center City Philly to hit Fat Jack's Comic Crypt and whatever else may have been nearby. Not long after a LCS opened about 3 miles from my house where I'd ride the bike to weekly. Even if I knew no new comics were coming out, I'd go just to look thru the back issue bins
  18. I see CGC videos of them handling comics and they're not wearing gloves (not sure of their specific olicy, there just individual videos) I don't though I do wash my hands first. I wish I had done that as a kid when I first bought them
  19. Tiny corner crease front URC. Are those spots of black on the spine from a slight miswrap? I'll say 9.4+
  20. Ouch. Are you reaching out to CGC? Maybe they can press it for you free of charge. Did you have any pics of it raw?
  21. My 1st was prob this which I found in the back issue bins of my local LCS back around 1980 as a bonus, I found this when I got it home and opened it up. I collected from the late 70's to the late 80's. Out of the 1500 or so I have, this is the only one with a signature
