  1. Who cares about the inserts...are those signed by Ross Andru??? (His signature is harder to find than Ditko's!) If they are, I would be interested in at least one if you decide to sell them.
  2. I wish DCs were as easy to find as Marvels. I need the $$$.
  3. So, are you saying that the variations happened within the same issue number of the comic(like a variant cover, or in this case a variant centerfold insert?)? Or that the variations happened over the course of the run of issues they were in(Like the Mark Jewelers inserts)? Like MVL 7-71 had an Overseas Diamond "outer" wrap and was in ASM #100, while MVL 1-72 had a different outer wrap, etc.?
  4. That's 12 boxes of DC comics with the inserts? I have a HUGE MJI collection but closer to 12 issues of DC comics with the inserts...
  5. I guess I had a complete ASM military insert collection... Actually, after looking a bit closer, that's just what the MVL 7-71 insert looked like. It still says "National Diamond Sales" on the inside centerfold. Whoever graded that one ASM #100 went off of the first ad, rather than the centerfold ad when they classified it as "Overseas". It's the same insert that's in all of them and are usually classified as National Diamond Sales.
  6. I didn't want to go too far in promoting it for fear the post gets taken down. I figured you were all like me and had your favorite searches saved on that particular selling marketplace. My ads would surely show up if you did. And don't get turned off by my prices. Make an offer, as long as it's reasonable, I will probably take it. I often go high to help weed out the unsavory. RE: That particular marketplace: "I hate this place. I do. I’m telling you I hate it. I’m in a hostile environment, I am completely unprepared, I’m surrounded by people who probably want to kick my a s s. It’s like being back in high school!" <-------Cookie to who gets that reference!
  7. Not necessarily comics, but stress from eBay did contribute to our issues. I like to describe it like this... as our friendship waxed, our marriage waned. I was willing to see it through(couples therapy), however she was not(I now know women can go through mid-life crises as well). Other than that, it was amicable...and entirely possible that we come back together at some point. After we take some time to mourn the marriage, I'm hoping we can still stay friends at the very least. The funny part about the friendship is that's all I wanted when we first met, but I quickly became aware she wanted much more. And I liked her so much that I went along for the ride. Then nearly 2 decades passed...amazing how time does that!
  8. Just giving you nice people a friendly neighborhood heads up that I just recently went through a (mostly amicable) divorce after nearly 20 years of marriage(why you haven't seem me in a while). So... It's fire sale time! I will be putting on most of my doubles(including a lot of my prized ASM collection!) in the next few days and weeks...
  9. I always do that. That's what's crazy, I had the info in the title, the condition and the pictures. I'm not sure what else I could do to relay the message to the buyer. But thank you for the info about how eBay truncates the titles. That figures. For years they picked out the absolute worst portion of our satisfaction policy out of context as the truncated description that one would have to click on to see the whole thing. Not sure if they still do that, but it's infuriating. I can say one thing, our block list is way shorter than the ones I've seen on this thread. And I don't feel right about posting names just in case(as you pointed out could be possible) I'm wrong about why I decide to block someone.
  10. Interestingly, I bought from you just last year...
  11. With the crazy stuff I've read on this thread, you're going to single me out for this? If you can't read the title(let alone the description), I don't want to sell to you. Sorry.
  12. I also block users who ask questions already answered in the title and text of an ad. Recently, I had an ad that explicitly stated in the title and description that it was missing the MVS, someone asked me "Does this have the Marvel Value Stamp"? If they can take the time to type a question, surely they can take the time to read the title. It calls into question their ability to comprehend things, and whether they would be able to comprehend if I did my job well as a seller or not. They could have mental challenges, and I wish them the best if they do, but eBay doesn't take that into consideration, which means I can't either if I want to protect my business's reputation. If they don't have mental challenges then I don't get it. Too lazy to read an ad, but not too lazy to type a question. Either way, blocked.
  13. FOOM had become Marvel Age by that time, and I'm pretty sure there was no preview of Spider-Kid in that mag. There was zero possibility the character increased sales one iota, so I would never expect payment for my "contribution". For me, it's just cool to have possibly had a hand in a character that appeared a couple of times in my favorite title. Osnick had appeared as Kid Ock before that and then became the Steel Spider, which is fine by me since his Spider-Kid was a far cry from my original idea of a serious character called Spider-Kid.
  14. I know from personal experience that Marvel "stole" ideas from letter writers/character submitters all the time. Tom DeFalco has even admitted to this during his run on Amazing Spider-Man. For my ( very small ) part, when I was 11 I sent in a very crude drawing of a character with Spider-Man's costume and spider legs coming out of his sides, I called him "Spider-Kid". A few months later... Where's my check, Marvel???
  15. 2...so I guess it's not as long as that run...
  16. This book came out a few days before I was born so it was on the stands as I entered this realm! Yeah I know, born in 1972 so I'm...
  17. Newest double cover! From 2012(Checked GPA and found one that has been certified, so I'm sure it's legit). First Nightwing double(favorite DC character other than Batman and the Joker).
  18. For you and me? No. For your average collector however, it seems pretty shiny colors are all they care about.
  19. Send it to CGC...Restored C-1 "Small amount of color touch on cover."
  20. Getting a bit impatient in my old age, I guess. Still, dropping a line would have been nice. I usually get two types of auction winners: The ones who pay immediately, and the one or two who don't pay at all. It's rare that they wait until eBay's deadline to pay so I may have put his books back in stock, .
  21. "Areas"(plural). I'd be afraid if you remove that one spot, there would be more you didn't see so all that would happen is the grade goes down with still a purple label. And that bottom right corner looks pretty crinkled, I doubt it gets any higher, just possibly blue instead of purple labeled. Nice looking book, I'd leave it alone if it were me.
  22. Curious, I block auction winners who don't pay but would you consider blocking a buyer who wins an auction, is completely radio silent for 3 Days, 23 hours and 59 min then pays just in the nick of time? Not even a semi-courteous "will pay Tuesday for a hamburger today"? Oh and then after waiting all that time with nary a message, they request that you ship it a certain way...
  23. Older case, so grader notes may not have been as extensive? Or it's just that "small amount" encompasses way too wide a range of color touch magnitude. Either way, I really wish CGC would adopt light and dark purple labels to differentiate between what I mentioned above. Light purple(maybe even more blue than red in the color?) to classify a book as having light amateur to moderate professional and dark(deep? ) purple to classify a book as having moderate amateur to extensive professional resto. Because when it really comes down to it, in life we want the cool colors...
  24. That's an older case, so I'm not sure what CGC's somewhat fluid standards were then, but I'm certain there's more than just that spot. If that's the only spot, it probably would have gotten the "Very small amount of color touch on cover" notation. Because "small amount" is kind of like the "Good" grade...not so good and not a small amount. Unless they decided to factor in the smudge that probably happened when they tried to touch up the spine on the first appearance of Thor...oops! (*cringes*)
