  1. I agree with making some kind of a change, but every change CGC makes to their cases costs one hundred billion dollars to implement, so I doubt we see anything soon.
  2. No. 10k maybe. As someone pointed out, now that they have been outed as scammers, some heroes are "winning" these books by overbidding as a way to police this seller.
  3. By this method, I can say at most of the MJI books this seller has been recently selling are legit MJI copies...just not necessarily legit 9.6/9.8 grades(the ASM 252 is laughable). So I think they are inserting actual MJI variants into the regular 9.8 copy holders, resealing them, then sending them off as MEs(Mechanical Errors).
  4. I've been buying/selling MJ insert copies for years now. I will say there is a way to verify some books(not all) as MJ insert copies without looking at the inside of the book. Obviously there is simply seeing the insert is there by looking at the edges, but there is also another way to make sure the insert wasn't simply thrown into a regular copy. As I have pointed out on the MJI thread here multiple times. If I was able to figure this out, I would have to assume a company whose sole purpose is to grade and verify comics could have figured this out as well. Just my ...
  5. Just saw this thread. Crazy. If there is a loophole, you can guarantee someone will exploit it. But my general rule of thumb is this: if it looks too good to be true*, it probably is... (*like a FN/VF book getting a 9.8)
  6. Thank you for easing my mind. My worry was some hacker wiped CGC's servers...
  7. Actually submissions are not showing now. Hopefully some sort of maintenance and not a sign of impending apocalypse... My submissions page: "We haven't received any submissions from you in the last 8 months." By submission number: "An unexpected error has occurred. Please refresh the page to confirm that you are signed in and then try again."
  8. About a month ago, I was looking at the DD 131 I have and held it to a strong light and noticed many non color-breaking ripples along the spine, so I took it out, pressed it and sent it in: Before: After: Not a bad bump! At least it passed the only other recorded double cover(a 9.2) sold on GPA 15 years ago!
  9. Oh, yeah if you haven't noticed, I only speak gif.
  10. High Value went through like greased lightning. Still have a TMNT #1("Magazine") that got the to CGC the same day that is not checked in yet...
  11. Sure glad there wasn't much bleed thru! Do they use one of these?
  12. CGC Mike has informed me that Matt Nelson says it came back a Universal 6.5(Assuming 6.5 outer cover after the resto removal and still 5.5 inner cover). Thanks to Mike and Matt for such a great job making this right(even when I didn't ask for it!)!
  13. It stayed so nice because you read comics like this:
  14. I did alright. Made money on the big stuff and lost money on the cheap stuff, but that's way better than the other way around! I did have an incident on the Tomb of Dracula double with a MJ insert, though. The winning bidder circumvented being blocked by me by starting a new ID with an alias. I didn't catch it until I had shipped, but eBay caught it and banned him and cancelled the sale! I had to rush back to the post office and luckily they found it before it went out on the truck!
  15. The BK #1 is a black cover which shows more wear. Of the two, even with more defects, the BB #110 presents better(It would have looked even nicer if the small edge tear had been unfolded before it was encased) . Comics grading is a very superficial art. It's all about how it looks. There are no concepts like "inner beauty" in grading comics. Ugly is ugly and pretty is pretty. Regardless of the amount of different defects or their severity, those books are simply on the precipice of looking ugly...hence the 4.0 grade. Still, I would rather have a 4.0 that has general reading wear but looks solid like those two over an otherwise high grade copy with a corner piece missing or writing on the cover that drops it to 4.0. Nice books!
  16. No doubles, just a #49 signed by Steranko. Closest would be a mid grade Alpha Flight #1 double cover. Both are graded by the "distinguished" competition...
  17. OK. I give. I'm bailing a bit on the double cover biz, deciding to aim my focus on graded keys. I'm auctioning off a bunch of them(Most are Amazing Spideys...some 9.8s!) this week!
  18. Only 5 years after 65...is too young. Just like with Steve Ditko, I could not appreciate his art as a child but now look back on it with wonder. Ambush Bug was doing Deadpool-type things a decade and a half before he did. Thank you for adding so much to my growing years Mr. Giffen(JLI, Ambush Bug), you will be sorely missed!
  19. It's fine. It's for my personal collection so it's not time-sensitive. I always like the Prowler since he was the first character John Romita, Jr helped create when he was 13, then was resurrected by Todd McFarlane when I was a kid. Hmmm...invert the colors...change hue/saturation...move the colors around...change up the chest design a tad...add a dash of Batman and Ghost Rider...
  20. I have a new M.E. going out tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes. But when it told me to write "ME" all over the package, I couldn't help but think of this:
