  1. Oh, yeah if you haven't noticed, I only speak gif.
  2. High Value went through like greased lightning. Still have a TMNT #1("Magazine") that got the to CGC the same day that is not checked in yet...
  3. Sure glad there wasn't much bleed thru! Do they use one of these?
  4. CGC Mike has informed me that Matt Nelson says it came back a Universal 6.5(Assuming 6.5 outer cover after the resto removal and still 5.5 inner cover). Thanks to Mike and Matt for such a great job making this right(even when I didn't ask for it!)!
  5. It stayed so nice because you read comics like this:
  6. I did alright. Made money on the big stuff and lost money on the cheap stuff, but that's way better than the other way around! I did have an incident on the Tomb of Dracula double with a MJ insert, though. The winning bidder circumvented being blocked by me by starting a new ID with an alias. I didn't catch it until I had shipped, but eBay caught it and banned him and cancelled the sale! I had to rush back to the post office and luckily they found it before it went out on the truck!
  7. The BK #1 is a black cover which shows more wear. Of the two, even with more defects, the BB #110 presents better(It would have looked even nicer if the small edge tear had been unfolded before it was encased) . Comics grading is a very superficial art. It's all about how it looks. There are no concepts like "inner beauty" in grading comics. Ugly is ugly and pretty is pretty. Regardless of the amount of different defects or their severity, those books are simply on the precipice of looking ugly...hence the 4.0 grade. Still, I would rather have a 4.0 that has general reading wear but looks solid like those two over an otherwise high grade copy with a corner piece missing or writing on the cover that drops it to 4.0. Nice books!
  8. No doubles, just a #49 signed by Steranko. Closest would be a mid grade Alpha Flight #1 double cover. Both are graded by the "distinguished" competition...
  9. OK. I give. I'm bailing a bit on the double cover biz, deciding to aim my focus on graded keys. I'm auctioning off a bunch of them(Most are Amazing Spideys...some 9.8s!) this week!
  10. Only 5 years after 65...is too young. Just like with Steve Ditko, I could not appreciate his art as a child but now look back on it with wonder. Ambush Bug was doing Deadpool-type things a decade and a half before he did. Thank you for adding so much to my growing years Mr. Giffen(JLI, Ambush Bug), you will be sorely missed!
  11. It's fine. It's for my personal collection so it's not time-sensitive. I always like the Prowler since he was the first character John Romita, Jr helped create when he was 13, then was resurrected by Todd McFarlane when I was a kid. Hmmm...invert the colors...change hue/saturation...move the colors around...change up the chest design a tad...add a dash of Batman and Ghost Rider...
  12. I have a new M.E. going out tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes. But when it told me to write "ME" all over the package, I couldn't help but think of this:
  13. Got a pm from CGC Mike. They are offering to remove the resto and give me a blue label for free. So I took them up on it. It might come back a 5.5, but at least it will be unquestionably what it is. Thanks CGC!!!
  14. Actually the inner cover was also restored with a piece replaced. I removed the piece in an effort to get a blue label. But apparently the outer cover had resto. But you make a good point. if you remove the outer cover it would be a 5.5 universal grade. 7.5 purple...5.5 blue...
  15. I knew I was getting a book back that had been classified as restored, so when I received it, I thought to myself, "I hope they screwed up and gave me a blue label too". No, not a blue label...a yellow one. It was in QC for days too...now I'm left wondering how they could have missed the mistake. Not sending it back in to be fixed, since this is for my personal collection and I'll take a yellow label over purple any day and twice on Sunday.
  16. Possibly trimmed. But still could be simply a reverse spine roll situation as well---probably incidental, but if they cleaned and replaced the staples, they could have purposefully done this to "hide" spine damage...I don't think CGC notes that, though they should. I'm giving CGC the benefit of the doubt...
  17. The cover miswrap is the very reason why the right edge of the cover is cut off. The text and comics code stamp on this particular issue are too close to the edge even on a well-centered copy.
  18. Mine are all shipped now, so that should ease the load on their servers.
  19. I love when sellers over grade then provide so many closeup pictures of how horrible the grade is! This one's not on that level, but it's a huge key so it caught my attention(and with great closeups of how crappy---er, nice it is!)... Hmmm, is that tape at the top of the spine? Why, yes...yes it is! And here's a closeup of the tape repair on this "high grade" key book! Nothing says high grade more than tape repair!!!
  20. Apparently they didn't just mess with the interior cover.
