  1. I don't see how the same person can make two offers on the same book at the same time , unless they have two different accounts with MCS
  2. It's only unethical if they say they wont charge you until the service is rendered but they do charge you ahead of time. In item 5 of the Service Terms and Conditions, they say fees are due at time of submission...therefore, these are terms you agree to when you submit (by the act of submission). Personally, I am happy they changed their policy to charging right away, at least I know it's all paid for when submitted.
  3. If you got economy, which is the most common , then 6 months is about 132 days (22 working days per month). 6 months ago TAT was about 180 days , so you still have a couple months to go. I submitted 7 books 6 months ago and still waiting but I figure I have two more months also
  4. I like the service at MCS (it's overall a great relationship)..I have noticed that buyers seem to pay more on MCS overall, maybe from a perception that MCS undergrades.
  5. I just recently sent 8 comics to MCS...these are all comics that I bought from them over the past two years. They graded most (all but one) of them significantly under the grade I bought them (eg. bought at 6.5, regraded at 5.5 or 5.0). So I just had them returned. I think I will hold off sending them issues I bought from them unless I get them CGC'ed. My experience with slabbing MCS raws is that CGC always grades a little higher, especially around the VF ranges. I usually send MCS, comics that I bought elsewhere, with no grade. I know they tend to grade lower than most places but they usually grade them close to what I think they are. Overall, I have been pretty happy with their consignment service, especially the auctions
  6. Those defects look like damage a book would get if you were not careful in de-slabbing ..I have de-slabbed about 20 books myself and injured a couple in doing so early on. This is one of my biggest fears with CGC..why I wont send them books to be reholdered..even for second signings.
  7. me too, I feel better being able to see my submissions and their progress...but although, for me, 220 days (44 weeks) is just too long to wait
  8. I will add....a comic book collector should have all their valuable books imaged...just for insurance purposes
  9. I had a reholdered book that CGC reduced from 9.0 to 8.0 ...it was originally graded a while back in the 2000's ...the case was old and the grade was bleached...it did not look like a 9.0 from the number of spine color breaks , so I expected a reduction as I dont think they graded it properly the first time....but from 9.6 to 7.5?
  10. My SS submissions are always sent directly to CCS (or it says so) from the date of opening if I bought 'pressing'....I don't know if it actually goes to CCS or if it's some way of tracking SS submission with 'pressing' ...If I don't get pressing it always says "scheduled for grading',...trying to figure out how CGC works is a job in itself
  11. I have probably sent over 20 SS submissions over the past three years..I know how it works..they open the box within a few days and they assign it 'received at CCS' if going to be pressed and 'scheduled for grading' if no pressing..there is no submission status but I know the box has been received because you can check on that on the submissions page using the tracking number. Maybe the box has been opened but it hasn't been formally submitted, which would be very odd, since they state this: "Your package has been delivered and is securely stored in our facility. It will appear in the Submission Tracking tool once it has been opened." ..either way it hasn't been inputted into the submissions page...which is unusual for three weeks..and it's concerning..and yes, I made sure I put the initials on the box ..all over the box...I am wondering if someone mistakenly put this box in the economy stacks to be opened much later or if there is just a major delay in opening SS boxes..maybe they are using a different method for March signings..no idea.
  12. My Chris Claremont SS submission with press was received on Feb 2nd at CGC but they haven't opened it yet..has anyone else experienced really long delays in opening of SS submissions?..usually they do it within a couple days ..the entire reason why we are told to put initials on the box.
  13. I am in a conversation about this very topic on a FB posting. There seems to be this misconception among a few that green labels destroy value...yeah, a little but I would say destroy is not the right word. I always tell people look on gocollect and see if you can find any green label/unwitnessed sigs ...especially for auctions...since auctions involve more parties interested in the issue. And a green label isn't going to lessen the value anymore than if you sold it raw...for obvious reasons. So basically, the comic has a value somewhere between raw and blue label. If I were in this situation (so far I haven't had to worry about a green label when selling), I would probably go the same route you did...post it with a best offer. I have found that MCS 'buy it now' is a good top value indicator of comics...maybe a little more than FMV but a good guideline either way.
  14. hope they can do all that in the timeframe you would need
  15. the email return is privatesignings@cgccomics.com I included my order number from my submissions panel
  16. Sure Thing "We are writing you today with sad and unfortunate news, that due to George Perez's health CGC will no longer be able to host this signing. Our thoughts are with George and his family during this difficult and private time. So many fans have submitted books for this final signing with George Perez and we know all will be heartbroken with this news. And with that we appreciate your patience as we try to work through all of your submissions and get your valued collectibles back into your hands. CGC has a few options for you to consider. Please reply to this email and let us know which option you would like to proceed with. Option 1 - You can have your book graded as regular Universal grade with no signature. If you select this option, CGC will lower the grading fee by $5 per book. The George Perez label is still available with a Universal grade. If you selected this originally, we will keep it on your order. Shipping and handling fees will still apply. Option 2 – You may have your book routed to another Private Signing with Marv Wolfman or Jim Starlin. If you selected a George Perez label originally, we will keep it on your order. Shipping and handling fees will still apply. Option 3 - We will return your book(s) to you RAW - ungraded. CGC will return your collectibles using the original shipping method selected on your order form. If you select this option, CGC will cover the cost of return shipping. Option 4 - If your books(s) were previously graded and cracked out, CGC will reholder your book(s) and return them to you. If you selected a George Perez label, you will be charged for the label, but there will be no charge for the reholder. CGC will return your collectibles using the original shipping method selected on your order form. If you select this option, CGC will cover the cost of return shipping. In all cases (except Option #2,) CGC will refund all signature fees paid. Please respond back at your earliest convenience and let the Signature Series team know your preferred option. We will process your submission as quickly as we can. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you for participating in this event to remember and commemorate the incredible legacy of George Perez"
  17. The accounting dept , which is in NJ I believe, does not seem to get payment changes from new orders...so you have to contact them directly to change your account details. I have talked to them on several occasions about strange billing (including them using an old card). They are easy to work with and it always gets resolved. But I have been trying to call them this week and can never get through, which has never happened before.
  18. Yeah, just too many things. ...perfect storm. I had a ten comic book order ready to ship to CGC ...but after thinking about it for a day...the ten month current turnaround time is just not worth it...and... why contribute to the problem? I think I will just enjoy my raws and check back this summer.
  19. yep, I was charged a day after I told them to send my raw back. I sent an email three days ago and no word back. I have been trying to get through to accounting , which is usually pretty quick...but no success. My guess is that the accounting office (which is in NJ i think) is processing all the payments for the signings in one lump batch and then they will refund the ones who did not select option two of the email, individually.
  20. CGC just charged me for this signing...a day after I got their email and told them to return my raw
  21. so this book is actually reprinting Spider-Man 1 from 1990? ..wouldn't be the first time CGC made a mistake..they grade a lot of books, bound to happen every now and then cool sigs and nice book
