  1. you might get to 8.0 if someone can take that, whatever, off the back cover. Otherwise a grade or 2 worse.
  2. 4.0/4.5 seems like there's yellowing of the paper, which brings me in the lower VG range.
  3. A crease that damages the paper is essentially the same as a color breaking crease. Those could be lighter bends, so pressed it might be >9.2
  4. Look like a little light, thin dust/sun shadow along that top edge. 9.2±0.2
  5. what's the little spot of something above the postage?
  6. 6.0/6.5. The light, but color breaking creasing around the outer edges has me below 7. Also a little concerned about the apparent tanning of the back cover.
  7. Nice results, especially since the ASM has a small bindery tear at the top
  8. Back faster than I expected. CGC might be turning on the afterburners to purge the backlog before convention season goes into full swing. I was hesitant to send this one b/c my presser had balked at it several times. If it wasn't a newsstand, I might not have sent it b/c of the risk of "losing" money. Anyhow, I'm impressed with how close most of you got to the assigned grade. I guessed 9.2, but was mentally preparing for a much lower grade b/c of the bindery tear & reasons.
  9. 7.0/7.5 & I'm thinking the 7.0 is more likely. The number of defects could be present in a higher grade, but those stress lines are a little long & right smack dab in the darkest parts of the cover. Likewise the tear/crease along the top is highlighted perfectly on the black background.
  10. In CGC's guide, the spine split is one of the defects that the range of grades is frustratingly broad with the middle not described in detail. It says 9.4 (small) to 1.8 (full). So definitely between those two numbers. I'm not seeing a lot in the photos except the split and some grime on the back. If that cleaned up and the general indentions/bending around the split pressed out, it would look like an 8.0 or better unless I'm missing something. I'm at 6.0/6.5 with successful work. And a very outside shot at 7.0. If the price is right, this would look good in a slab. One of those presents better than the grade books. Having a nice looking copy without breaking the bank.
  11. If you're in on this contest, copy this list and add your name to the end like so: 1. ADAMANTIUM 2. zzutak 3. scburdet
  12. Around 5.0. Some evidence they go a little easy on these books targeted toward the youngest readers
  13. CGC guide gives a wide range. 6.0-9.6 depending on severity & whether there's staining on the paper. This doesn't seem like the worst example, but still moderate. I'd guess 7.5±0.5
  14. kind of hard to be too sure on the white background, but looks >9.2
