  1. Read the pinned thread about posting guidelines and edit accordingly.
  2. I can't make out the spine wear you reference. Sometimes books have fraying to varying degrees at the fold. IDK if that's what you're seeing. If you post more detail photos, like a side-on view, it might help. I have an Heir to the Empire 1 with some spine fraying that came in a 9.6. I think the decision to grade depends on what you plan to do and risk aversion. The difference between the FMV of 9.6/9.8 and grades lower is significant. If it comes in a 9.2, you're looking at close to 50% invested in grading of the FMV.
  3. based on the GSXM this is a 9.8 or better. I think a 9.0/9.2 is about right regardless.
  4. Agree. The detachment here doesn't matter b/c of the other defects.
  5. >9.2 as-is. 8.0 after Todd manhandles it during a signing. Not speaking from experience
  6. I see things that could be something, could be nothing. Really hard to tell the difference between 9.2-9.8 on here. The little corner thing could be the tiniest bindery chip that wouldn't hurt much
  7. Enlarged pics are pretty blurry. It would be useful to have better images when trying to look for small defects, which are the most likely thing (other than the soiling) to count against this book. I'd give this an 8.5/9.0 as-is, possible a grade or more better if the stuff on the back cover can be cleaned off. It's possible there are defects hiding in the blurriness of the photos though.
  8. A fully split spine is a max 1.8. If it's glued back together, CGC might stick it with a Restored label. I'm not 100% on this. I know a glued split will get a purple label (I had an unexpected Restored for a resealed 3" split). Now, the full split may be a sufficiently low grade that the added glue might not be counted. I'm not sure how to parse the CGC rules on this one.
  9. I see this as around 5.0 now. Surface cleaning is more likely to help this book out than pressing. Get someone experienced with these older books. Some of the dirt looks like it might be more than that, but if anything comes off, it's going to look better. Nice book.
  10. Read the pinned instructions & edit your post as needed
  11. Needs pressed to get rid of the stacking bend? along the back spine. 9.4ish after.
  12. 9.2/9.4 with c/p. If it's a light stain, 8ish.
  13. Blue label b/c it's inside. 5.5/6.0 maybe. Not sure how much the shock & awe of seeing one boosts the grade. The spine creasing definitely looks like a 5s max situation.
  14. Is the piece of paper hanging off "extra" or a piece from the inside hanging out?
  15. Not sure what that little dark spot is on the BLBC. Need some info b/c if it's a light stain, that's going to be a bigger issuse
  16. 9.2/9.4 after c/p. The back isn't nearly as nice as the front unfortunatley
  17. The line looks like a printing imperfection to me. I'd give this a 7.5 as-is. Maybe into the 8s if the back cover is cleanable,
  18. 3.5/4.0. Leaning lower than higher b/c of the little pieces out
