  1. A rare CW post sighting, so I need to bump this . I helped at CW's booth the whole day and it was non stop busy and quite fun. A pair of collectors bought a stack of keys (FF12, FF52, two FF 67s, ASM 121, Hero for Hire 1, ASM 194) all in one swift deal. FF 48 was a popular book that was asked for all day and the FF50 on the wall was mistakenly perceived by a several shoppers as the first app of SS. Both Marvel Super Heroes 13s sold within a few hours of the show opening. I did not know that was such a wanted book. Other books that moved briskly were all the 50 cent bargains, Capt Marvel 28, any BA 30 cent variants, NM 14, ASM 238 newsstand w/tat, and Byrne X-Mens. Oddly, slabs don't seem to sell much or get any looks from what I can tell. Raw books sell great here which is probably a reflection of the old school con that this is--all comics and no cosplay or video games. Thanks to HOC and Wormboy for another standout gathering.
  2. I know of a copy that sold privately in the 30 range last year and then changed hands again for more.
  3. Are you on the road to Heroes Con now?
  4. I have felt 50/50 on that too. Although, I think they have been looser on grading but tighter on PQ in some cases.
  5. Looks OW to me, but Steve is the PQ expert Nice pick up Sam.
  6. Harold, you needed to bid a little more than $100
  7. I have seen Tec 31s (Sept 1939 cover date) with "Aug" date stamps on their covers if that helps to explain...Daring Mystery 1 (cover date JAN 1940) was released late OCT 1939....
  8. yah, that's another mystery behind Goodman. I would have preferred the unused Subby cover to be used for Marvel 2 at the very least. We all know Goodman had a thing for the Angel and he expected him to be the star of the title.
  9. OCT = test run NOV = real, official print run
  10. I have always read that the OCT copies were distributed in local regions and that's likely NYC (I am guessing NJ, NY boroughs, maybe Philly areas at the very least)..this would make sense because Goodman received feedback quickly (had to have been phone calls or letters) by the week's end that all the OCT copies were sold out already, prompting him to distribute more copies (NOV ed.) nationwide. Goodman's print shop for both OCT/NOV copies were in NJ. I've always though any OCT copies holed up still would be found in or around the 5 boroughs of NY and NJ. The mystique and history of Goodman and MC 1 never ceases to amaze me.
