  1. I traded my 4.5 copy at just under $2900 ppp about nine years ago.
  2. It was at $6700 til the last 20 seconds...bam bam bam...
  3. Old label and maybe the seller was not up on FMV? Good for the new owner.
  4. far from it! From being bitter that is...
  5. I bought a Marvel Mystery 9 in 1997 for under $4k. All Select 1 would have been been another sound choice for me.
  6. I would have included FF1, but I doubt think a copy can be had for $800 anymore
  7. From a collecting standpoint with $800, I'd go for a FF 2-6, 12, Hulk 2,3, Spidey 2-4...you might even make a few bucks on any one of these down the road...
  8. Could have been an OCD with the stamper or randomness.
  9. Did the 5cent price make up for the missing top cover?
  10. $83k for the HA 1.0 with part of the BC missing...still up up and away
  11. Agreed. And that's when the retailer tore off the top 1/3 of the front covers so they could get a credit for any unsold comics.
  12. I've seen some copper age books with the occasional stamps, but the stamps seem to have stopped when the newsstand (barcode)/direct copies started distributing (circa 1976)
  13. The store that received the comics (drug store, candy store, newsstand, etc) would be the party doing the stamping. The arrival stamp would tell them when the book arrived. The publishing month on the comic's cover would tell them when to pull the book and expect the next issue.
