I think there might have been more money to be made if those had been around longer. If there's no restoration on that SC #4, it looks like a 3.5 at least. possibly a 4.0 if the spine is better than it appears in the photos. They are a little blurry to be sure. But IMHO it's possible both buyer and seller did ok @ $2800.

From the scan, the Showcase 4 is a soft 6.0. That may be, but the colors are quite strong. I'd suffer with it

That's an apt comparison. Interesting that Marvel didn't continue to use AF as it's "showcase" for new super-heros. I agree with what Richard says, that the first appearances are more sought after. In fact, I think Spider-Man #1 suffers from it not being anything more than the first time Spidey appeared in his own title, and not the first appearance ever.

I wish you had me doing a double-take Mine is a 4.0 LT/CR. It's probably too close to call for me to bid on that raw to try to upgrade

Might be a good selling strategy, a red-hot key, scarce in grades higher than 4.5, listed auction-style on ebay with a starting price just outside the edge of reason

I think that Showcase #4 looks pretty decent, but I question whether it would grade much higher than the one I have. Although the PQ looks pretty decent. It looks like an OO set to me. What does anyone think it'd grade?

I sold off my 8, 13 & 14, I wasn't satisfied with the grades. Now I find myself wanting to replace them
