  1. I hear ya, and I'm guilty of doing a little flipping myself. My question is where the heck are these books hiding? You can find decent Marvels anytime but even mid-grade DC's keys seem to be a challenge to find.
  2. I get where you're coming from. Curious though why that particular sale troubles you, since there are plenty of record price sales?
  3. Everytime I drop in I get hypnotized by the flashing red letters next to my name and forget why I came
  4. Aren't these photos similar one of the notorious sellers we've been comparing them to?
  5. Don't get me wrong, I've found some real treasures raw on ebay. It's just gotten harder to find them lately. Could be more people looking, bidding up the raw, albeit riskier auctions. In truth, I've only ever bought one book that had (undisclosed) restoration, and it wasn't a high-grade or expensive book. I even bought a raw GA book that turned out to be CGC's highest graded copy.
  6. Too much hassle, for what it's worth besides, I'm not confident in my own ability to determine if there was resto or not, so most likely I would have to send it out. I just read in another thread that the seller recycles cdpaoli, bijoubaby books, which is to say, restored books sold by scammers, so likely it's best I lost the auction.
  7. That's all I needed to hear, to keep me away I'm starting to feel lucky I lost that SC #8
  8. Unlike Charlize Theron, there will be another just like it or better Seriously, everything happens for a reason. A next one will be even better Cheer up (thumbs u
  9. I thought so too, but I was hesitant to pay nearly a grand for a book with only a 3 day return policy I'm batting 1000 lately
  10. Too bad. I think a book like that one might even have done better if it were graded, depending of course on the extent of the restoration it revealed. Anyone else agree that a decent book like this one, if it only had minor color touch probably could have fetched more than the closing price? On the subject of raw SC's, did anyone see this SC #8 raw that sold on ebay last night? Another book that,IMHO if unrestored, could have fetched a lot more if graded. The doubt factor kept me from going as high as I might have if there was definite proof it was unrestored. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=230581892358&si=mmiJOWUC%252F3axMO%252Fxe0sUwqlNWPM%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AONA%3AUS%3A1123#ht_4782wt_1141
  11. Thanks. He had a couple of nice raw books up for grabs last night (including a SC #8). IMHO, the prices went a bit high for raw books on ebay. I guess enough people have confidence in this seller to bid it up.
  12. Did a search of this seller, collectors_comics, and besides this thread all I could find was a thread with the usual welcome wagon extended for noobies (message board handle "the dean"). Anyone have any recent experiences with this seller?
  13. Could be a nice copy at the right price. Who knows, maybe you could get the resto removed for a blue Either way it's sharp looking. Good luck if you try for it (thumbs u
  14. I've tried to figure if it's been trimmed, but it looks like it might not be. What a shame If it only has color touch, it looks like a nice copy. But I agree with Flash105, it's risky buying a big book raw on ebay
  15. Here's one that caught my eye, until I read the listing and discovered it has color touch and who knows what else. Nice looking copy. But it's a buy-it-at-your-own-risk kind of deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/SHOWCASE-4-1956-COMIC-VG-4-5-/110646845811?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c310e173#ht_928wt_1262
  16. Curious, why do you think it's trimmed on top and not on bottom where GL's foot is cut off?
  17. Yeah, I think I said that previously, I pulled it out to scan last night and noticed that. Bob Regarding the 5.0. I say leave the SC22 5.0 as is and let everyone guess the potential. (thumbs u I think you're righ . I do want to get it re-holdered. The slab is a little worn.
  18. A new 3.5 CR/OW hit comiclink link What'cha think?
  19. Thanks for the compliments (thumbs u Yeah, I think I said that previously, I pulled it out to scan last night and noticed that. Bob
  20. That one is the 4.5 but yeah, that one's nice too. In fact, I really, really thought it was a 5.0, but CGC disagreed. The PQ bump was nice though.
  21. This is my 4.5 after being re-subbed and receiving a PQ bump. I found it hard to adjust the colors to the way they appear on the book, without it getting too dark. The green of GL's costume always looks too yellow in my scans. So, keep in mind the phots here are darker than they appear in person, but the colors are truer, if anyone call follow this logic
  22. Talk about separated at birth . . . I present my new acquisition, or "this is what your book would look like in a slab." The miswrap is indeed, ahem, distracting.
  23. Granted How's this for an original name for the comic version - "The Mile High Club"
  24. They have a car club downtown NYC, pay an annual fee and get to drive Porches, Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, Lambos, Maseratis, Corvettes, Vipers and even some exotics like the Tesla - working downtown I see the cars all the time.
