This is one of my favorite newsstand shots of all time!  It's a real beauty. Love the early Fox books intermingled with Fawcett and DC.

Let's see, there's that Friday which was a short-lived publication from Lev Gleason and Dan Gillmor that was supposed to be a left wing version of Time and lost a million dollars in its short run, first issue dated 1940-03-15 (and that's not the first issue, not sure of the date), so we are looking at a later time frame, say June-ish 1940.

This one?  Might be a different issue considering the dates of the others

The First Romance is December 53

The Beware is January 54

This Magazine is Haunted February 54

Musta been a later episode than 1952. 

This Magazine is Haunted #15 has an indicia date of February 1954, meaning it must have been available at the stands around December of '53.

That's Batman #81 with a February 1954 cover date so it's definitely a 1954 episode.

Bob's Spa in Jamaica Plain Massachusetts in 1952

Before large supermarket chains, most people shopped at grocery or variety stores. Disposable periodicals such as newspapers, magazines and comics were sold along with groceries. Bob’s Spa was a variety store that was operated by the Ristuccia family for over 90 years in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood in Boston Massachusetts. The patriarch of Bob’s Spa was Bartholomew Ristuccia who was born in 1891 from the village of Malfa on the island of Salina off the coast of Sicily. He emigrated to Sydney Australia in 1908 to join a cousin who owned a fruit store. After learning the fruit business he joined other cousins who owned a fruit store in Jamaica Plain in 1910. In 1912 Bartholomew who had taken the name Bob, partnered with his cousins in a new fruit store at 128 South St and later bought out his cousins and renamed the store as “Bob’s Spa”. Batholomew married Rosalina Caravalio and had 4 kids, John, Robert, Rose and Mary all of whom, along with their spouses, at one time or another worked in the store. Over the years, the fruit store expanded in size and offerings to become a fully stocked grocery store, sandwich shop, fountain, newsstand and cigar store. The store thrived in a growing neighborhood where a gas company facility, streetcar maintenance yard, new housing developments and schools were located nearby. The store was also a popular gathering place and had many loyal customers due to Bob’s extension of credit for purchases. The family sold the business in 2001 and after several changes in ownership, the location is now the Happy Market & Spirits grocery store.

That Witches Tales caught my eye, but I'm not sure it's #16.  Looks more like it could be #14 or #15.  I only say that because the background behind the text "WEIRD YARNS OF UNSEEN TERROR" is also as black as the black background meaning, they were more than likely the same color (black).  In a b&w photo, I'm guessing the background behind the same text would show up lighter since it's a different color than black.  Also, the text itself is black on that issue, so it wouldn't show up as "white" or a lighter color on a b&w photo.  Or, that's what I think anyway. lol.

Nice job, though!

At first glance was thinking no ECs!  On far right side,  I see Wings #118 and probably Shock Suspenstories #7 - there also may be a different EC on top if the SSS #7.

Hard to see aren't they, some of them. I meant to look for this one too, with the 'R'  It looks very familiar....
