Am I correct in understanding there is no Cartoon Books reprint of 27? I looked at the catalogues of covers on comics.org, mycomicshop, milehigh, etc., and don’t see this anywhere, but it seemed odd that there’s be no CB version of this sole issue.

Thanks for any pointers!

You’re correct. Only Image printed #27 which was the final issue of the Dragonslayer storyline. Every other issue from #1 to #26 was printed at least twice with different cover art by both Cartoon Books & Image and some with different colored titles (Cartoon Books #1-12 & #14).

In addition, CGC mistakenly slabbed a few Cartoon Books printings with labels that said Image Comics (#30, 31, and 33) but these are clearly wrong.

I've never seen any info about the distribution difference between the red labeled and the gold labeled versions of #13 1/2. If I remember correctly, the red label was given to people who sent in the "mail-in" coupon from Wizard while the gold version went to anyone who also subscribed to any of the Wizard Press magazines at the time. I'll guess that there are less Golds around but who really knows?

This was a 9.8 all day long. Another big thank you to Rich Henn!

Something a little different this week: Jeff Smith Autograph Card from the Bone Series 2 Chromium set. Comic Images decided to put five times as many Autograph chase cards in this set compared with the sketch card from Series 1 so they were much easier to find. Unfortunately, they must have been stacking them on top of each other while Jeff signed them because they all have smudged signatures and ink on the backside of the card lol

I don't think I ever bought a pack from this set or Series 3 but I remember buying tons of Series 1 (sketch card was incredibly elusive). I bought this on eBay about a decade ago. Any of you have the trading cards or remember collecting them?

I have an unopened box of Bone cards, copyrighted 1994. I also have some chase cards and I believe I have some regular cards but can’t find them at this point.

Those bring back memories :cloud9:

I’d advise against opening it if you’re ever tempted to find a sketch card. They came at a rate of 1 per 300 boxes

The comic below sat in a 9.6 slab for many years. I finally got a group of similar looking books in a single submission and sent them out last Spring. I couldn't even detect a finger bend but got it pressed anyway just in case. Thankfully, it came back as a 9.8 :)

Was signed at the 2014 Heroes Con and Jeff did a nice head sketch of Fone Bone as well.

The book below originally came back to me as a 9.4. In the slab, it looked near perfect to me so I recently sent it back to be pressed & regraded. I didn't remember if it had any internal issues so it was a bit of a risk but I ended up scoring :)

This is one of the Cartoon Books reprints of issues #21-26 which were first printed by Image Comics. The original Image cover is crucial since it's the first appearance of Bartleby (he's featured with Fone) but this one is a bit more dynamic. Very few of the "second attempt" covers were better than the first as only three of them immediately come to mind. Any of you prefer the newer Image or CB covers?

Is C1 correct? I thought 161 previewed #5.
I'm probably mis-remembering.

Yeah, it was #3. It’s my favorite issue in the whole series which is the only reason I remember.

Boneville.com revealed the cover to More Tall Tales a couple days ago. Unfortunately it won't be released until September 5th but it looks like it'll be a fun read:

I've seen all of Jeff's pages, and some of the guest art for this book..it's gorgeous all the way around. Excited to read it in September!

What's the sketch card you're referring to? Is it still elusive?

I’m sure most of the people who read this thread know but just in case: the auction on Heritage tonight was for a CGC 9.8 2nd print of #11. Both the CGC label and the auction title didn’t mention this.

I bought a 1st print #11 in 9.8 from Heritage a couple months ago, and this one went for double what I paid! Crazy!!
