Ridiculously Rare DC Giveaways And Premiums

Based on my research these were apparently part of a promo kit that were sent to Video Game stores back in 1996. I know of one particular store that gave one away as part of a contest along with some other promo stuff. I contacted someone over on the Twisted Metal Forum that has been looking for 5 years with no luck so this is definitely a toughie.

I am incredibly honoured that Paul Levitz sent me their only file copy. Otherwise I could be searching for the next five years to no avail.

Could some kind soul please re-post it so that it shows up on the screen itself, rather than as an attachment.

For future reference:

Just click on your attachment....copy the URL......click on Image .....paste that URL.....press OK. thumbsup2.gif

Man, here I was, going to be a wiseass and put up a picture of someone flipping the bird and say something like "See? Like that." But after a quick Google "image" search for "finger", I think I'm going to throw up.

I was expecting maybe a little porn and various pictures of fat men giving the one-finger salute, but that was freaking nasty. Like "PMs with Greggy" nasty.

This thread has one deceptive title. I was thinking Ian was gonna be giving away some rare DC's.

Oh REALLY ???????

That's VERY logical.

Well you do have tons of spares... confused-smiley-013.gif

Many of us have given away freebies for any number of reasons. Sometimes a board member will hold a contest and offer a prize. Sometimes it's just a "first one to PM me gets a treat" kinda thing. So it's not illogical. However, it's by no means something one has to do.

I was just thinking of the miserable two hours a day I have to spend on e-bay scanning through every DC listed just to pick up the occasional oddball preview or giveaway, how few ever turn up that I don't have, how tedious it gets, and then picturing the notion of me starting a thread on here to just give them all away again........

I don't think so somehow...............

Well it's a Superman comic with a fabulous cover, made in 1988 as a special commissioned gift for a kid by his obviously affluent father by special arrangement with DC. Only 100 ever printed, and ninety eight of those sent to the Father. I've seen the cover and it's awesome. i think it just MIGHT be worth more than three bucks of anybody's money. I already offered five hundred for it.

To correct this, when I finally got my copy and spoke to Daniel Bradman himself, he told me there were only twenty five.

I had ORIGINALLY heard there were 100 from Jerome Wenker. He was wrong.

Is the "Adventures With The DC Superheroes" giveaway that's suddenly turned up on e-Bay a new giveaway or an old one that's suddenly turned up out of nowhere.

It looks like the old one given away with milk, but this one is from Con-Edison and the cover is totally different to the milk one, although the logos are the same.

This is a new promo. There is also a second one called "JLA starring Batman". Send an e-mail to jlastarringbatman@coned.com w/ your name, email and phone# and they will send you one for free. Not sure they will ship to the UK though....

I've had the JLA Starring Batman giveaway from Con-Edison for over six months.

What fascinates me about Adventures With The DC Super Heroes, is that it's got the old Adventure Comics logo, the same as the 1999 giveaway with milk.

Talking of Adventure Comics, which ran for nearly forty years and over five hundred issues, WHY OH WHY won't they bring it back and recontinue the numbers from number 504 as a special Seventieth Birthday treat for all of us long time DC collectors.

If people have collected their comics for forty years, don't you think that DC should feel that their loyal collector base are entitled to the occasional perk ????

They should do like Marvel, and re-number the series starting with #1. stooges.gif

You mean like they did millions of times with the Teen Titans, Swamp Thing, Challengers Of The Unknown, Legion Of Super Heroes, Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, The Demon, The Creeper, Doom Patrol, Aquaman, Hawkman, JLA, Catwoman, Green Arrow, and even Superman ??????

I pray you were joking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course! What sort of protoge would I be if I wasn't?

If you're my protege, then can you find me my missing comic - New Adventure 26 ???

Or failing that, as this thread is about rare giveaways, "The Aquateers Meet The Super Friends", or The Flash promo TV Brochure, or the Batman Rain-Blo gum personalised comic, or the two different sets of Looney Tunes mini-comics given away with Tyson chicken, or "Supergear", or "What Do You Know About This Comic's Seal Of Approval", or the brochure to the 1960s Superman Musical "It's A Bird", or the second 1944 Superman Christmas Adventure, or the supposed Warlord Remco mini-comic, or even just a Batman 608 RRP edition.
