A little more on the Bradman Superman comic.

I believe that when you push the "start" button on the press and, as fast as

you can, you press the "stop" button, you wind up with at least 100 copies.

Ian indicates that 25 were sent to the family. I suspect the others were

distributed among DC employees at the time. One friend of mine was friends

with DC and got a copy. An employee sent me a copy (long story) which

is how I got it.

It is good to know the correct number sent to England. So there are,

or were, about 100 copies printed. At least that is what I think. I could

be wrong.

You guys are going to hate me.

I never heard of the Superman "This Island Bradman" comic until now, when I stumbled across this thread for the very first time. The comic intrigued me because it was a private commission, and because of its apparent rarity - only 100 copies or so, according to jerome34. Of course, I never thought I'd get to see an actual copy live and in person, let alone own one. However... just for the heck of it, I decided to search for it on Ebay.

I found one copy, which the seller was offering as a "Buy It Now." The price?

$1.00.

One.

Dollar.

Here's the link... but don't get too excited.

Or jealous, for that matter. The seller now claims he no longer has the book. In his words:

I am sorry to say that I do not have this item any longer. It must have been re-listed by accident. ( I use turbo lister and sometimes this happens.) I feel really bad for the trouble. If you end up buying anything else from me I would give you 10% of on the whole order as a way of saying sorry. In the meantime I will send your money back right away. Once again I am sorry for the trouble.

Someone here probably saw your post and made a deal for the book behind your back. I would neg the seller.

If that DID happen, it would be unfortunate.

I don't think we know when the auction was held though...

It wasn't an auction... it was a "Buy It Now" deal.

And it's highly unlikely that fanfourforever's scenario came to pass... I didn't post until about 30 minutes after I had "bought it now."

I'm very disappointed... I really was looking forward to reading the book...

Huh? After you posted here, I could have emailed the seller and offered him $250 for the book. He sells to me outside of Ebay and tells you the listing was in error. Seems very likely to me.

Agreed - you've definitely been gazumped - neg the seller immediately. In fact, this kind of thing really riles me as it's happened to me before.

The guy should sell to you!

It's still one of the rarest comics ever made in the entire history of our hobby.

But where the hell did he get that picture of it ??

That's not taken off mine, and I'm sure it's not taken off Jerome's.

So, Flying Donut is a man of his word, and my holy grail of the DC promos finally arrived after so many years.

Dan thankyou. I so appreciate it.

I actually had given up on ever owning a "Supergear" and now I do. There's not that much else that I need now that I know about of the promos and giveaways.
